Is the House of Hoops losing its mystique?

I've been meaning to make this thread for a minute but after the recent Kobe V release decided to actually push the New Topic button. Its been about three years since the first HoH opened in Harlem, New York and since then we've seen locations pop up in Chicago, LA, SF and Dallas to name a few. Although HoH NY is the "flagship" store it definitely doesn't appear to be that way now that I can just wait until shoes that were released there show up at Footlocker on 34th street in addition to it getting the short end of the stick when it comes to certain kicks.  With 100 more House of Hoops to be built and annexed to existing Footlockers by 2013 what's the point of having a House of Hoops?

Yes it is. Chicago really hasn't had much. NY has gotten the most exclusive stuff. And the expansion across the US is well documented. But hopefully change is on the way. Soon.

The SF / Daly city one has had nothing good except for Bin IX's, and Infrared package but that was almost a GR.. They need to have Limited HOH's and MORE Player edition shoes that are limited. NO more saturday releases, but quick strike releases. That would make the place more exclusive and would probably drive in more traffic during the regular week.

I like more HOHs...its better for a lot of us that work and have family....I don't need the "exclusive pair" to feel cool, but I'd also like my fair chance at it if I like it.....when kicks only dropped at hoh harlem it was next to impossible for anyone out of the area to get em....

I like that they are expanding. In Chicago, for instance, I'd have to drive to the outskirts of town to get a chance at some "limited" item. Now there will be a location dead in the center of downtown... with that said...

To answer the OP's question: Yes, the simple fact that 100 new locations are in the works does nullify the "mystique" and exclusivity of the original location(s). It's all going to be watered down product offerings under the guise of quality sneakerhead fodder.

yes but I think it has to do more with actual product if Nike puts out the right pairs it won't matter how many locations there are.

HOH never had a mystique..imo..it was just a cool store to have when you want those limited kicks that no one has..not that i care bout that stuff anymore..i like the fact that they are expandin..in all honesty it will enable more people to get what they truly like now..and when they expand the supply to footlockers in the future it will definitely b better..mainstream America will b able to get product they would not normally see in regular Footlockers..

I like the idea b/c it allows people with other obligations such as JOBS a chance to get the shoes in their own area. It also allows a wider range of people to grab a shoe they like without paying reseller prices. Sorry but the ENTIRE US shoe scene does not evolve around HoH NY even though most New Yorkers are quick to say it does...

should of never had any HOH's. Kicks are already very limited, now you make them exclusive to certain areas. wack!!!!!
