Anybody get a car loan straight from the bank instead of going through dealer financing?

Thoughts? Is it any better or about the same rates?

Credit unions usually give you better rates, IMO. But it depends on your credit
yeah my credit is in the 700s and I already am leasing a BMW so I'm not too concerned about a high rate. I just read somewhere dealers put higher interest than banks would to make a profit from the loan instead of just being the middle man

I'm not in a credit union so I don't think I can apply?

you can apply. i joined penfed a few years ago just by donating $25 to some veterans charity, it was a promotion they had. at that time you were also able to join if you had a friend or family member who served. i ended up opening a savings account and they gave me a 1.75% loan rate on a used car. i have a similar credit score.

depends, I got a new car, so maybe it helped too.

BofA denied me, not even 5%.....

credit union wanted like $100 in an account just to give me a quote.

I got 0.9%/4-years with Toyota, credit score 755 & I put ~30% down payment, i don't know how much the down affects the rate.

I would have gone back to the credit union if I didn't get 0.9%

i really think i might sell my Evo and TL and loan the rest of the money (hopefully only in the 8 to 12 thousand range) to buy a used E92 M3.

Having surgery in February (i think, might be pushed to March) so once i'm recovered and back at work i'll really start looking into it

it actually happened in March of this year but i kept being told it was just a sprain. Finally after 9 months of complaining to my doctors that it wasn't healing and something was wrong i finally got an MRI last week

And being from Florida I hate that. Donk wasn't about the rims, but rather the way the trunk looked and how wide the car is.

What are you guys' average driving mileage per year?

For about 2-3 years, I was doing about 15,000/year. Put quote a toll on my car.

I recall watching a documentary and hearing the work "Donk" spawned from people misinterpreting the leaping impala on the Impala logo as a "Donkey". Dead srs.

Put 10k this past year on my new car. If I didn't drive all the time for snowboarding in the winter it would probably be near half that.

I feel the same way bruh

I thought Donks were only 71-76 Impala's and Caprice's
You are correct. The word "Donk" refers to the 71-76 body Impalas and Caprices.
Interesting. it's always seemed to me that people just refer to cars with giant wheels as Donks
Yes that has become a common usage.  Sort of like people calling all bandages "Band-Aid"s.  Donk has become a generic trademark if you will.
