**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

Dalembert is who we prolly end up with but that move is very status quo imo.  Does it make us better? Sure. Does it make us contenders? No.

We've made "all-in" moves, and I'd rather try swinging for the fences and do whatever possible to get Gasol/Oden/Jordan.  And I know Oden prolly won't even be able to play next year till Mid-Season and I'm fine with that.  Bynum has helped the Lakers to three straight finals while playing part-time basically.  As long as Oden can be healthy for to get us 16 wins coming May/June that is all that matters.

Not to say he is the same guy, I can recall another former Blazer center who barely ever played but managed to gut out 50 games and lead his team to a Championship.  Oden doesn't even need to all that, just hold down the paint and let Amar'e/Melo cook.

deandre would take a couple of mill less to be the main center on the team, i dont think he wants to play behind kaman. i'd go with...

1. deandre
2. dalembert
3. oden

And if brandon knight somehow falls in our laps in that 15-17 range, then we lucked the #@+! out.

Oden? really?

  • In sixth grade, Oden underwent surgery to repair his hip . Following the surgery, one leg was then longer than the other, resulting in his unusual gait which is often mistaken for a limp.
  • His senior year of high school, Oden underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his wrist , an injury that kept him out until December for his freshman year of college, after which he helped push his team to the NCAA Championship Game, only to fall short.
  • On September 13th, 2007, during preseason before his rookie season, he underwent microfracture surgery to repair his right knee. He would miss the entire 2007-2008 season.
  • He recovered from that and 2009-2010 was set to be his year. He was looking very much like finally the player he was supposed to be. Then on December 5th, 2009, he landed without contact on his left leg, and badly fractured his left patella . His recovery was projected to take him right up until training camp of 2010.

No thanks

I hate when dudes read Simmons and go wild. He said a small market team might as well try and turn trash into gold with Oden, cuz they aint getting anyone else.

When the !%%% did that apply to us? Greg Oden is contagious. You want Amar'e to die?

Deandre ain't coming man.

People aren't arguing that you throw 60 million over 5 years at Greg Oden or anything... but when discussing potential big men in FA, he should be a target if we can get him at a discount.

The issue with this team going forward if we have to make a decision, focus on getting a third max (or near max since it would be impossible thanks to Melo's big extension) OR get smaller pieces and forget about the 3rd superstar.

Greg Oden isn't contagious... so long as he doesn't bring along the Portland medical staff with him, he won't infect anyone else. The team has to make a decision, either shed salary again for the hopes of a 3rd superstar (which I disagree with) or try to find a PG and Center in the draft or free agency... and when looking at potential FA big men, there aren't a lot of viable options. Hopefully Jerome Jordan comes in next season and can be a contributing big man off the bench.

you never know the clips might not match him... they rarely pay to keep their players... the thing is other teams are going to want him too... and its a huge gamble to waive chauncey and not pickup deandre or any solid center in free agency and get stuck with no point guard or assets to trade for that potential third max...i just hope donnie signs that extension so he can make that decision... i believe in him

Allan Houston & Melo ruined my night last night. Went out to Providence & the line was around the corner to get in. I can't even speak about what I did after that, but where I went made me feel like a third or fourth class citizen.

And Phil Weber stole my taxi!

Congratulations to the Rangers. It's about time.

My homie told me bout it today. He was in the spot last night and said it was rockin, mad shorties lol. Said Anthony Mason and Chauncey were in there too. Friday nights at Providence are the move but u always gotta get there early fam. That line gets epics around 12

Clips have been trying to trade Kaman all year. Like I said, you lose because they are either going to over pay because you have to put an offer out there that the Clips won't match or you low ball him and he gets matched. You draft a center or sign one for a flyer this offseason and wait to see what Dwight does. That's how I'd play it *shrugs*

Dwight Howard will never come to the New York Knicks so there's no point in waiting to see what he does. I still wouldn't overpay Jordan, though, and give him a 5 year contract.

ok after just checking on stats and not watching the games these are my 3 centers in order for the knicks gasol, chandler, and deandre...theres definitely pros and cons for each player but ill name a few but not all... gasol averages 12 and 8, chandler averages 8 and 8 and deandre averages 5 and 5... deandre looks promising because he will eventually improve and hes the youngest out of the 3... chandler and gasol average better stats and even though they are slightly older they are also taller... i wouldn't mind any of those 3 to be honest....and i also forgot to add that gasol and deandre are a lot more durable than chandler... but like i said before to get 1 of these 3 guys would be a good look for the knicks.. and with dalembert as the potential last case scenario wouldn't be a bad plan either... just look at the bulls for example... they have 1 really great player in rose but thats about it but still get 50 wins and their front line is decent at best... we got amare so thats covered all we need is a decent center... bulls got boozer whos ok at best and noah whos a defensive specialist who rebounds the ball well... so with that being said our team has better players wise but we don't play defense, don't rebound and don't have big men....if we get a solid center we are straight...and a solid starting point guard or backup point guard would help also and what i mean by starting point is we need a decent one because we would have to give up chauncey to even sign a center via free agency

I say doubtful, after his most recent showing if he falls out of the lotto I'm shocked and we're very lucky.

"Kevin Garnett" is intense player -- every time he's not on the floor, his team is missing him,'' said Biyombo. "I want to (play) defense as a team. I want to help everybody on my team and I want to win the game ... That's what I heard from my first coach, that the good offense is defense. If I block a lot of shots then it's good offense. If I get a lot of rebounds, then it's good offense.''

@HoopConsultants: Bismack Biyombo can be a rugged tough NBA big. Plays too hard & is too committed to defensively not to be an NBA player

DraftExpress: This is a joke. Bismack Biyombo blocking shots with his elbow now. Who cares how old he is? How high does he go after this?

DraftExpress: Saer Sene couldn't get off the bench for Pepinster, the worst team in Belgium. Bismack Biyombo plays for a playoff team in Spain.

DraftExpress: For those saying Bismack Biyombo is just another Saer Sene, he's been doing this same stuff for a while now in the ACB. Totally different.

DraftExpress: Bismack Biyombo had zero experience, but came into ACB and immediately led the league in blocks. That's how you know he's something special

Depressing.

A guy to keep an eye on, Kyrylo Fesenko;

A legit 7'1 center. A defensive presence due to his size and decent rebounder-shot blocker. He's only 24 and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Likely won'r return to the Jazz from what I've read.
