Would LeBron James leave Nike?

as i recall, reebok offered more, but nike ended up matching the money.

and Rap Sizzle.. in asia.. kobe sells more than lebron and jordan combined. so yes, he's the real cash cow.

Nat Turner Post some proof that SI has been wrong.

They cover up his tattoos and I think it's because of the religious views (or something like that) of SVSM

Really? Cause I think there was a story out in 2003 that Reebok offered him more $ than Nike, but LeBron said that Nike was his favourite so thats why he signed with them
if i remember correctly....... either adidas or reebok offered 10 million more.  i could be wrong.

Nah, that didn't happen. Nobody had as much money to offer as Nike. 100 mil before signing the Cleveland contract, apparently Adidas told him to "go for it".

Wrong.... Apparently reebok could've...... http://sportsillustrated....ine/MAG1028848/index.htm
That is not the first time that SI has been inaccurate in its reporting.

nike always has the best sig shoes and promotion for players. if he left nike he would be just like all the other big name players with a bunch of wack shoes that all end up at the outlet after a few months. just look at iverson, tmac, garnett, dwight howard, grant hill and even kobe. all kobe adidas were goin straight to the clearance rack even while he was winning championships...

The SI article is accurate - anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.  Although previous marquee endorsers such as Kevin Garnett and Andre Agassi have defected, I think it's a general consensus in the sports marketing industry that NIKE is still the global leader, especially for basketball.  LeBron is smart enough to recognize a good situation - I would be really surprised if he ever considered bolting.  I don't have sales figures in front of me, but I would guess that NIKE's investment in LeBron has broken even so far at the very least.  I live in one of the largest markets in the country, and I don't see his merchandise dominating on or off the court.  I think there are two main reasons for this:

- He's a great basketball player but he's not as interesting or exciting to watch as Jordan or even Kobe.  This will change if and when he wins a ring, but until then...

- His entire collection (footwear, apparel, equipment, and accessories) has seemed second-rate from a design standpoint.  I liked the Air Zoom Lebron III and the Zoom Lebron Soldier III but those were the exceptions to the rule.  His commercials have been kind of hit or miss.  That being said, I think the "What Should I Do" commercial was brilliant.  The Air Max Lebron VIII is a step in the right direction.  To me it has a very late 80's - early 90's influence - the upper, midsole, and cushioning look comfortable and durable.

Not really, it is about what the article does NOT say. Nike came back at the last minute upping the ante, thus my stating that the article not being accurate. Adidas wasn't going to match those numbers, thus telling LeBron to go and do his thing.

There is something about you fanboys on here that is quite disgusting. You read what you want to read, then understand only what you are willing to understand, just as long as it makes your employer/favorite company look good.

Also, with the wording of that article, it makes Nike look as if all LeBron wanted to do was to wear Nike all along, which is not true either.
What would the press look like if the supposed best footwear company, had to pay more than anyone else to convince the best player to come along since Jordan, to wear their shoes? It's called spin...and Nike does it very well.

You all can believe what keeps your dreams safe, but don't be surprised if LeBron jumps ship, especially if his next few sigs fail at the box office.
