i hate how nikeid removes ur af1 ids after the option is gone..before, esp with the cement option, if u add to cart, u could order weeks and even a month after the option was long gone. missed out on the canvas/cement n now the snakeskins (didnt realize it wasnt pst midnight) :/

on another note, i got a pair of black supreme af1s that came out a few months ago n really tempted to paint the swoosh white with acrylic paint. anyone do this or have thoughts? i know some might think itd butcher em but think it could turn out dope...

^^^ I wouldn't paint them, rather bleach the swoosh so you can always dye it back to black if you don't like it...

Can anyone tell me if the UPC code on all Air Force 1s of the same model have to be the same in order to be authentic?

or is it just the style number that has to be the same?

lovin the canvas denver.. especially the royal blues. lol @ "not pristine" when they look just as new as the royal blue pair.

Lex- nothin like a raider colorway .. will be quick to jump on those when they pop up in 9.

Do you mean the number on the bottom right underneath the barcode - after the date?

If so, no. I think those numbers relate to the production runs (probably indicate factories too). I've looked at some of my doubles and often times the numbers are very close but not exact.

I know we have some tag experts in here - I am not one of them. Matt? Nadel? Erv?

A sort of cliffs notes post on tag reading would be very helpful. Style codes too.

I remember somebody being able to tell the location of production based on the numbers in the tags, for example. Any summary along those lines would be really helpful. While we're at it - style codes too. I know that certain numbers within the chain refer to certain colors and stuff - any sort of cheat sheet that anybody could put together would be a good resource.

Alright, I didnt think they have to be exact either, just wanted to double check

Thanks for the info!

Yeah they're pretty clean, but the right shoe has a faded spot right on the front of the toe and a snag in the canvas on the toebox as well. That's really my only beef. They do look fine, otherwise, and I'm happy to have 'em.

have you guys seen the most recent AF1 releases?

It seems like Nike will do anything to avoid putting leather on Air Forces nowadays

disgusting what they've done to their flagship shoe

I remember when I first started buying AF1s in the early 2000s, the OG NT members were already complaining about how the quality was going downhill compared to 90s era AF1s. Since 200*****05ish (around the same time Nike changed the box design) the quality has been abysmal and even the shape is off. They look like fakes now, it's a damn shame.

Agreed. IMO, it started to fall off around 2003 - but it was inconsistent. By about 2005, almost everything was turning to crap.

I think the shapes started to get a little inconsistent around 2002...Sambas (year of the horse) for example, nice quality, but the shape was definitely odd. The quality fell off by 2005, and then completely nosedived in '06...like, full-on tanked.

Amen brother, don't even get me started on that revisionist Lunar Force 1 junk. That's nothing more than an attempt to get the 'new jack' sneakerheads to jump on a cheaper to manufacture, all plastic, Hyperfuse AF1 takedown. GR AF1 has been plastic trash for the last decade - I remember when they quietly switched from genuine leather on the GR AF1 (non LE/Premium) in late '03. After that you had to buy 'Premium/Supreme' AF1 to get decent materials but that was at the expense of the overall shape.

The best recent AF1 release has been the jewel swoosh joints from last year. Tumbled leather + jewel checks + sale prices because they sat on shelves
