Anyone try Lagunitas citrusinensis pale ale? I got 2 sixers of those for the weekend, some month old Lagunitas Sucks, some Santa Fe Brewing Imperial Java Stout, and Elevated IPA.. I think I'm set.

I had Citrusinensis when it was part of the One-Hitter series. Good beer. Heavy on the orange/citrus flavor and dangerously drinkable for the ABV.

For me, yes. It's not like they are that much more expensive than regular stouts.
Barrel aged stouts are my perfect beer. I'll rephrase that. Bourbon barrel aged stouts are my perfect beer. Combining two things I love, beer and bourbon, into one drink? Sign me up.
And they range in ABV so you can have a "session" style like a Velvet Merkin and you can have a "what the eff did I do last night?" style like a Black Tuesday.
That being said, just like any other style of beer, you have some duds and you have beers that are damn near perfection in a glass.
My advice would be to start with a normal BBA stout (BCBS, Parabola, etc.). Stay away from adjuncts (KBS, BCBCS, Mocha Wednesday, etc.) just to start. It would be like having desert before dinner.

As a barrel-aged stout lover: I've been enjoying Apple Brandy barrel-aged beers a lot.
Hell..I prefer them to bourbon barrel-aged beers at this point. Prairie Apple Brandy Noir was honestly one of the best imperial stouts I've ever had.
My friend is dropping off my Apple Brandy BQE bottles this weekend. I'm reluctant to drink one because I want them to last forever.

Seems high. I've overpaid for a ton of beer over the years and way worse than that. I believe the Backwoods by me is around $14-15 if I remember correctly? Maybe it is $20. Got me thinking now. Speaking of overpriced:
Sucks too caused I'd buy the hell outta these.
I had this last night. Was very impressed to be honest. I could drink this all night. Only had one but its so smooth. It's obviously like a light Guinness with creamy coffee.

From what I can remember is the Nitro was a little bit stronger and not near as smooth. Almost like black coffee vs coffee w/ cream. When Sams says it's smooth and creamy, they mean it with that

My local store has the SA Nitro Coffee Stout, and I'm a big fan of Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout.

Nice. Impressively close to what I said on untappd. "Tart citrus elements there. Not really feeling overly sweet. Scary. Mid to low 4 range. I also did a tri blend of Death by Coconut, Xocovoveza, and FBS.. Crazy combination. Lagunitas Sucks, at just a month old is tasting remarkable. It's crazy how varied that beer can be.

I grabbed 1 more since I have one at home already. And a 4pk of the Guinness Nitro since the girl from Guinness asked if I wanted a sample lol she was hot. The nitro sample was good however

So I've done the FBS-Xoco mix. I did a KBS-Xoco mix last night. Wasn't that impressed to be honest. Oh well. Did get a nice buzz at least.
