This one should actually be a lot more mellow than the last release. The last release was three double IPAs in which one was a Cellarmaker collab and the other was All Citra Everything. Now there's a pilsner, a collab from a brewery not too many people know/care about, and a beer they've already done. I'm showing up early tomorrow, but it's for the convenience of getting in-and-out and arriving back to Long Island before noon.

Monkish has started doing those "NorthEast" IPA's and having can releases almost every week.
The last release was an IPA and a DIPA. They open at noon on Saturdays. There were people in line before 7am.

OH has some pretty nice can art. Props to whoever designs them 
Had a small bottleshare today at the office. Mostly sours but they were all pretty damn tasty!
Grimm Future Perfect. Coworker from NYC brought this. Not too funky or tart. Enjoyed this one very much!
Brothers Craft Brewing's Atramentous. Didn't know they made sour stouts but this one was actually very good. You don't really notice it's even a sour until the tartness at the end. My fave of the bunch.
SARA Fruit Punch V2. Most sour out of the bunch but tolerable for me haha. I know SARA are known for their sour beers and this one did not disappoint!
Boulevard Rye on Rye. Thought this was quite basic. Got a little bit of spice from the rye barrel but not much else.

I like dreamweapon and ended up with a lot of it. The SS-Cream was my first from Carton brewery and was a let down, especially for the price

Other Half release was actually a breeze today. They seem to really be getting their footing when it comes to running smooth can releases. I was 100+ deep in the line and still got in and out within about 15 minutes.

Really enjoying this one. First "pilsner" I've had from OH. This is honestly closer to an IPA with wheat and grits. Definitely tasting a good amount of nelson on this one. This is gonna be great to drink on a sunny day.

Welp...this is amazing:
Huge fruit juice flavors on this, but not too "soft" like other highly praised NY IPAs (Grimm, for example). One of the best collabs I've had from OH so far. Glad I maxed out today.

Final of the bunch:
Photo is from the first can release of Suparillo. This batch is considerably more transparent in appearance. Big notes of candied fruits/apricots. A very good beer, but it's hard to follow No Layups. It's like skating after Tony Hawk in a 90's vert contest. This is liquid Bob Burnquist.

Some of my friends are into trying different beers, ive found a few I like but would never order over a Corona if I were paying. Lagunitas are cool though.

I consider myself a beer snob, but I will pretty much drink anything. I'm at a friends party and all there is is Bud Light - I'm drinking it.
Corona is the one beer that I will not tolerate. I have drank water at a family party instead of drinking that swill.
Anyways, back to beer. Went to Firestone Walker Venice last night to check it out. They've been open a few months now.
Food was killer and if you like FW beers, you are in heaven. They had just tapped a keg of 18th Anniversary when I walked in.

Picasso, Try more, and more, and more, and MORE styles. Don't give up (unless you truly just want to enjoy what you like). Heck, find similar mexican style lagers, and give those a shot. Then expand out to Euro imports, and even your local or regional lager/pilsners. People get in a comfort zone, and that's cool. But there should be no reason to be totally content.. Heck, steal a few sips from friends drinks.
I'm down to drink dos equis in that sort of "dont think about it" party session sort of event. Other than that, I think I could easily settle on a top 10 rotation of beers I always want on hand. But anymore, its just so easy to have variety without much thought.
Today was a good day. Replenishing a depleted beer fridge
-HH relatively fresh at two months old..
-Sculpin ive sorta been craving too. Its actually the freshest Ive seen it in months. Expensive but worth a retry I suppose.
-Been on a real lager/pilsner craving lately. Some local lager/pilsners get thrown into the mix as well.
-Spotted an older bottle of Marble BBA imperial stout, 12/12 dated. Not bad for $14. No markup since it was released some 3 years ago. Talk about a shelf turd..
-La Cumbre Strawberry Gose. Real nice tartness with that one. I'll get some photos tomorrow, And of course their IPA. Core mainstay for sure

No ones touching that, or that mosaic promise beer (albeit that one was very solid). I just had to laugh. No one is touching that stuff

Its good. I dont drink a lot of brown ales but its one of the better ones ive had.

I think a thread like this is gonna mostly have craft beer heads and then occasionally people chiming in who just like to crush lagers at a bbq. I feel like it's like trying to compare the best slice of NY pizza you've ever had with dominos. They're not even close but when you're hungry, anybody will **** up some dominos. I'm not a fan of Coronas personally but I'll drink it to be polite. I don't mind a cold Miller High Life or Amstel light at a bbq or something though. I feel like if you like Corona, it's definitely worth it to try other lagers, you're bound to find others you like the same or more, which opens up your options.
Had both of these today. Quite a contrast with the Enjoy-By being a IIPA at like 9.2% and the Citra Sunshine slacker only at 4.5%. I much preferred the Stone EB, but I've been way more into IIPAs lately. Evil Twin and Singlecut have been in heavy rotation in my house lately, it's nice to have another option.

Getting back into beer, but a yuengling and a blue moon with the orange slice will never get old to me despite any craft beers. I'll still drink a corona and Heineken, but can't do too much anymore, just over saturated being Caribbean NYer.

Hell...you're close enough to Monson to warrant a trip out to Treehouse as well.

Definitely can't get behind some of these 4% beers costing the same as the bigger 7.5%ers. Sunshine slacker was available around my way. But every Evil Twin can/bottle is way overpriced (given its BA score). $10 for a four pack of 16 oz cans vs. $9 for a 7.2% IPA (same company has a 5.5% Hefe for the same $9, so take it for what it is I guess).
Then we have breweries in town that enforce a 3 beer limit very strictly. It doesnt matter how big or small you are, or really how big or small the beer is, you are cut off at 3. It sort of advocates drinking the heavier styles and getting your time/moneys worth. Total opposite effect imho.
I was out in CT/NH for many summers a couple years back. Then I got a real job. I can't believe I missed most of that greatness by about 3-5 years. Simply a ghost town in 2008/2009 on my last real visit. Even in 2012, I had a chance to go to VT. Family visited Alchemist without any issues. I hear they have a new building under construction. C Ford, how in tune are you with the NE forums on BA? My trip up to southern VT is a go for August. Wondering if I should post a topic asking for suggestions, or if you may be aware of the ins and outs.
Crazy, I take 5 days off from beer, and now I can't seem to drink more than 3 without wanting to take a breather. You think your body builds up some sort of endurance. But I don't think I believe it. 5 days off, I'm now a lightweight. Not a bad thing I guess
