Sounds like he waived his no trade clause because he was a Dodgers fan growing up.

Why does MLB even have a trade deadline?

That being said...O's are done.

Got a bright future, but they have to do something about the rotation.

Agreed about the trade deadline part.

The o's might be done this year but they'll be in the mix next season. I honestly thought they completely overachieved last season and kinda expected them to fall off hard this year so for them to be hanging around is a sign of consistency from them to me.

So close to the streak being over :smokin

Justin just showing up in the middle of the game

The fact that they actually are contending this year is the complete opposite of what I expected coming in to the season.

After so many years of ineptitude, I'll take a .500+ season any day as an O's fan.

I still don't think they'll get a WC spot, but hopefully I can jinx them like I did w/ my "Seeing the Yankees Struggle" statement a few years back

*Need to get a decent 4th/5th rotation guy going into next year. Feldman ain't it. Maybe Gausman gets the nod.

*edit*

funny thing about the O's is that their longest win streak this year is 5 games. I'd like to think they're due for a long one...and this is the time of the year when it would really matter.

Don't let the wins fool you Champ, he's being helped out enormously by this phenomenal defense and getting a ton of runs per game.

They need an ace or at least a #2, but the FA market will be really weak, and Bundy is out until the latter half of 2014. Someone will need to be brought in, but I've no idea who. Hopefully Gausman makes strides.

I think they need a middle infielder as well. There are too many guys in the lineup who have pop, but don't get on base enough.

Building a bullpen is hit or miss, but it's a miss this season. Costed so many damn games in just the most frustrating manner possible.

Agreed - still have 4 games against the Rays, so not all the way out of it yet.

Yea I meant to ask the other day....why are trades still being made?

After the regular trade deadline July 31, teams can place players on their 40-man (I think) rosters on waivers. Either they're claimed and they can be pulled back or let go, or they pass through. After they pass through they can then be traded up to August 31. Also players have to be on the roster by August 31 to be playoff eligible.

I'm with you guys I don't get the point of having two different trade deadlines, other than giving buyers and sellers a little more time to figure out which one they are. Can't complain though, we just got Michael young for a non prospect

Out of curiosity, how to Tillman's #'s compare to Maz Scherzer's?

Max strikes out about 2 more per 9 innings, walks 1 less and better HR rate (but he doesn't have to pitch in the ALE in those homer prone parks). Big difference is the FIP, Tillman's in 4.51 and Scherzer's is 2.73. So basically Tillman would be a lot worse if he played in front of a league average defense instead of the best in the game and Scherzer would be better if he didn't have two fat slobs on the corners.

As always, appreciated, bro.

Just curious b/c I know that Scherzer gets crazy run support as well. I wanted to see how the advanced stats matched up more than anything.

Comparing Scherzer to Tillman? C'mon man.

[dre clark] go wash ya face [/dre clark]

Ron Washington yells at Derek Holland on the mound. Holland goes into the dugout and throws a tantrum.

Great managing, Texas.
