Trout is an idiot. Should have played out his contract and got that 10/300 contract in the next couple years.
I wouldn't have risked it.

So the Yankees will sign Trout when he finishes the finishes the Angels contract interesting..

A 28 year old Trout is not gonna get that 10 year 300 mill though. Its crazy how Arod was able to swindle his way into two different 250+mill contracts in his career mean.gif

Who's Trout 's agent? It seemed like Trout just wanted to get a deal done and out of the way to avoid distraction, I respect the kid for that.

Can't stand the Angels but Trout is amazing.

Trout and the Angels were extremely smart doing this. Good for him/them pimp.gif

A 28 year old Trout even if he's 75% the player he is now will command huge money/years on the open market, you guys are insane if you think not.

If his career keeps going the way it has been he'll easily get a 10 year deal when its done, age doesn't matter what it comes to these things. He'll be in his prime.

A Rod was going to hit over 800 home runs, and be the person to do that *without* using banned substances.

Yankees would have made a billion off him alone easily.

How many years did Trout have left? 2 or 3? I would have waited and got that HUGE payday. I think he'll get paid after this contract but not as much. People will see the Pujols, Cano and Miguel deal end in disaster. Detroit already saw what a mistake Prince Fielder's deal was.

Trout plays like a crazy person. His career could be over tomorrow. I'm fine with the risk-prevention kind of contract for now.

If he makes it, he is still getting another nine figures again when this one is up.

I was saying this last night. Kid will be 28 and if he keeps his play up, he will again have hundreds of millions of dollars thrown his away.

I think after he saw what miggy got at 31 he would blow that out the park at 28. What I don't think he realizes is that miggy is a totally different player and still will be putting up 30 homers and 100 RBIs in his late thirties. Once Trout's speed starts to decline so does his defense, infield hits, base stealing, etc. decreasing his overall effectiveness as a player. When he's 28 he will not get a contract as large as he could've when he was 24 or 25.

No, he is the furthest thing from an idiot for taking this deal.
He's going to be 28 when the deal is over...that 250-300 mil deal will be there if he stays healthy and continues on this path, it's not even a discussion.

and he could have gotten hurt and been Mark Prior.

He's gone be 29 not 28 when he's a free agent. Not sure if 1 year is gonna make a difference though. The 6 year deal is for the 2015-2020 seasons and buys out 3 years of arbitration and 3 years of his free agency. For this year, he's under that 1 year, $1M contract he got last month.

But idk if at 29 he's gonna be able to get a 10 year $300M contract. Most of the 9-10 year contracts you see in baseball go to infielders, more specifically 1B, cause even at an older age they could still play the position. Most OFs top out with 7-8 year contracts. His best chance at 10 yrs, $300M is to do like Miggy. Stay with the Angels, and when he has 2 years left on his deal sign a 8 year $240M extension. That combined with the final 2 years of $30M+ each gives him $300M.

Tim Lincecum too. The list goes on. Trout made the very smart decision of protecting himself today while keeping his potential future earnings at an even higher level.

Trout should have gotten close to 250 Million if Miguel got almost 3hunna

If it was that linear, Trout should have gotten about $500 million.

Baseball's back pimp.gif can't wait for tomorrow and Wednesday, gonna be heading out to Citi Field.

Trout's deal would have ended in 2-3 years. A hurt Trout is still bringing home 250 mil. A healthy Trout is bringing home 300 mil. I stand by what I said. MLB loves this guy.

Padres jerseys are awful. Happy to watch baseball tonight. I can't wait to watch on Tuesday.

Im going to be a real baseball fan this year...I usually watch till all star the game..then lay off till playoff time lol

Will John Kruk ever go away?

And nobody feels like going to the game in San Diego, apparently.
