Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Charlie Bartlett was awesome. I watch my movies alone, though, so that's why I don't have any bitter memories :smh:

I think that's why I loved 21 Jump Street so much the other night...

Comedies just aren't the same anymore.
Very forced jokes, very cliche, very corny.

21 jump street had a lot of clever and unexpected comedy, nothing seemed forced and everything just seemed natural.

What happened to the days of Wedding Crashers, 40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad...

Just hasn't been the same lately :smh:

wedding crasher > all. come at me bruhs.

as far as villains:

jack and heath nailed joker
dafoe nailed osbourne
loki can have his own film. he is that good. i think loki stole a good amount of shine in thor 2.
hardy as bane would of been great had he had less lines. his presence was enough to steal a scene.
aaron as 2face is underrated. people saw his transformation from white night to anarchy. the joker pushed him over the edge but it was interesting how in a matter of days all his good beliefs went down the drain. the joker was that good that aaron's performance was hardly notice. you guys dont know how spoiled we were with tdk.

Erroneous!!!
haha, id even go as far as saying step brothers > wedding crashers

if you cant tell by now i think wedding crashers is a bit overrated.  It was a very funny movie and i still enjoy watching it, but....

Talladega Nights >> All of the Above

Shake and Bake! yeah that just happened!
haha.. "I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagles wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk!"

Now you're just tryin to get banned. Don't do that. I'd feel bad.

Lotta Jesus talk in this thread within the last 2 days... Korean Jesus, Buddy Jesus, & Talladega Nights Baby Jesus...

It's funny, but Doc Oc gets mentioned alot, but I never really took to him. He is no better as a villian than any of the Marvel non-villians are.

Joker is Joker, and just not worth mentioning with any others. That level won't be reached again. Bane was a bad ***, and looks like a fluffy cat next to Joker.

I thought DaFoe's Goblin was better than Doc Oc, but I'm probably giving Spidey 2 a look again this week sometime, maybe I'll refresh and change my view.
Doc Ock aint really **** as a villain. Son was always clown status to me but Molina as him in SM2 brought out all the good qualities in him and was just handled superbly.

Nothing was wrong with Dafoe's Goblin the movie just wasn't big enough for him. GG as the first villain really isn't a good idea unless you're planning on bringing him back.

SM2 is hands down the best Spidey movie to date cuz of how they brought out the balance and how strong scenes with Ock and Spidey were.

I can't wait to see this doc... I went to see Nat Hentoff speak at Georgetown years ago. I love this guy.

seriously though, wedding crashers has it all IDC IDC IDC

man.. those 3 years back to back to back..

old school, then anchorman and then wedding crashers

When I saw Wedding Crashers in theaters, it had me in tears. But rewatching it over the years, it's come down.
Especially cuz I don't really care for Owen Wilson or Vince Vaughn in anything much anymore.

And it's kinda different with Talladega. Cuz I woulda told you that it was on that Anchorman/Old School level.
I watched it again last year...it's still got a lot of classic in there (I mean the knife scene is forever)..but man that movie drags.

Whether your favorite is Old School, Wedding Crashers, Superbad, etc., I think we can all agree that 2000s >>>>> 2010s (so far) for comedies.

Aw yeah. The drought started in '09, when all we had was I Love You, Man and people were so spoiled and desperate for anything, that they spazzed out on The Hangover.

I mean what are you guys' fav comedies of the last few years?

Bridesmaids has to be near the top of "recent" stuff.

But I won't even stick with recent. To me, give me
Me-Myself-Irene,
Wedding Crashers,
Liar Liar,
Something About Mary,
Ace Ventura,
Old School,
Superbad,
Private Parts (WAY underrated)
Borat,
and maybe an American Pie if that counts, and I'm good. I need nothing else.

Anchorman, StepBrothers, eh, I can handle, but I don't pine for.

Pitch Perfect count as a comedy? If it does, def throw that on my list, I love that damn movie for some reason.
