Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Misfits Season 1 is ******* amazing.

The storylines were very well. I want to see another network do the same
I watched it to the end and spent like 5 years of my life on it. bittersweet but that's what you get for watching british shows.

What are your guys' strategies to giving up on movies?
Right now I'm about to give up on man of steel and world war z.
You mean like giving up while you're watching or giving up on sequels?

If it's the former, if I don't like something I just stop, no strategy. I don't care much to watch crap. If anything years down the line I'll give it another chance and see. If it's the latter, I just wait on rumors, trailers, new cast, etc. If I didn't care much for the original it'll be hard for me to care a lot about the sequel though.

I'm calling Neighbors a flop. Best parts are gonna come from supporting roles (Burress, Franco). Seth Rogan has terrible third acts, he's been in maybe two entire movies I've liked...that's piecing together his whole career. I don't know anything about Zac Efron, but he doesn't look funny in the previews. Long story short, they won't be getting my money.

I'm on Season 2 like episode 3..worth watching after this season? I understand the cast will soon be dying off and new actors will take over. I always hate that in tv shows

I'm going to say between Godzilla, Neighbors and Spiderman...One will be Wow. Another will be meh and the other will be flop.

Not eeem tryna predict which one will be a flop lol

Zach Snyder officially given green light for Justice League following the Superman-Batman sequel in 2016.

The hate will be palpable.

Eh I mean it's not even hate but Snyder's pros and cons are really clear at this point. I wish DC would start expanding already. Let somebody else direct the team movie.

The way things are panning out the eventual Batman movies directed by Affleck will be the best DC will have to offer.

Most importantly get a better main screenwriter than Goyer. Start putting all those comic writers to use and form a team of them to hand in drafts and screenplays.

people started to drop off at the end of season 3. If you make it to the end or get bored/tired/mad at the show I'll give you my opinion of the show later but loved it none the less.

saw captain America, was cool, didn't think it was phoneminal or anything compared with other Marvel movies and I know we've had this discussion before

but the whole time with winter soldier
swear I thought and was hoping it was Jared Leto

I got questions but I think I should put it in the Marvel thread

I watched most of an episode of Glee...I get it. I understand why it's so popular. It's a caricature of highschool x musical numbers. Everyone went to highschool, they know/seen/heard of every character in this show.

Add in mediocre acting...and Boom! A hit...must we forget the overtone of the same-sex couples; adds a whole nother demographic on their audience, on their Will and Grace steez. Great show, clever writing and the music/choreography is on point.

They have the opportunities to do a lot of things in this show. Also, there is a lot of sexuality in this show ( most of these girls are of ag, calm down). Glee has a lot of heart. A lot of real life situations. Its absolutely political.

You don't even need great acting, the storylines are excellent. I find a lot of good in this show.

That being said, I don't know if ill be watching anymore...possibly, but well see. The writers also write Nip/tuck and American Horror Story; Ill give em a spin.

Glee has it's moments, at least in the first season and most of season 2. It was funny, weird, the music was catchy... but it would really suffer from each of the creators/directors kind of doing whatever they felt like each episode. Some episodes would be awesome... others would completely botch a story, ruin a character's development they've built up, and just leave you saying "what the hell did I just watch". It could be a completely different show one episode to the next.. it was really one of the worst examples of the show contradicting itself over and over again with story and characters. It had just awful writing and planning.

I caught up on season 1 once it got all the hype, it was good. Season 2 was probably still good, I forget.. then it became one of my hate watch shows.. it's awfulness was funny to me so I kept up for another season or so.. then I stopped entirely because it just got too awful and Dianna Agron wasn't on the show anymore.

See, I'm the opposite. *finds my hipster glasses* I was there day 1. When I heard the dude who made Nip/Tuck was doing a high school show? :nerd:....just give me a date and time and I'm giving it a shot.

And it was amazing to you the truth. It was this dark fairy tale of high school, that happened to have singing. And it had such a mean streak in it, and hid the bitterness under all the cheery lights and polished visuals. It felt like this awesome mix of Malcolm in the Middle and Boston Public tbh. Sue Sylvester was working on becoming an all-time great TV character. Sometimes it'd get a little too cheery for its own good, but it went from guilty pleasure, to me being this close to putting my boys onto it...

...for the first batch of episodes. Cuz see it stopped right at Sectionals and went on a long *** break. And yeah it had some TV-head buzz, but this was before all the Gleeks and the hype and all of that. That first half was made in a bubble. And then the show blew up over Xmas. And when it came back it felt like the writers must've let all that smoke from the broadway/karaoke fangirls blow right up their ***, cuz it came back different.

Immediately the show was a little dumber...more forced...less self aware...more big theme episodes and guests...less good jokes and good character stuff...more fangirl-bait, than it ever had before. And it just kept doubling down on that ish...and I didn't even finish the first season. It felt like when Frank Darabont got fired from Walking Dead. Think I've caught/been made to watch a few over the years. It really is an awful show. And don't get me wrong, if it's your thing...wasn't anything else on TV like it. But the writing was on the wall when it came back, that they lost track of what made it so good.

Had it stayed what it was in those first 13 or however many...people would be calling it one of the great network shows, you never expected to resonate...like FNL.

But it didn't.

But hey...some of the girls on that show were top shelf. :smokin

That new Seth Rogen Movie looks like its going to be hilarious. I dont think I've ever seen Dave Franco in something where I didnt like what he did.

The part where hes dressed up like Robert Dinero "You violated the circle of trust Focker"

Glee isn't good to me. Bearable in the beginning but now I don't get why to keep dragging this caracas around like it's a prime rib. I kept wondering why they never made it clear who was a senior and who wasn't but now it's clear and why they haven't ended the show yet. I get it but it's just not for me. Every now and then I might enjoy a song I like but the demographic these story lines are aimed for the tweens. The clear gay agenda seems so trite and forced to me.

Wow ONeg, I never saw most of that or much of the potential in the show you did. Didn't think Sue was going down in history either  and I was there from around Day 10.

I didn't expect something as different and particular as that to get so much right so early. And to be just about exactly what it wanted to be from day 1. I mean, it's the kinda show I'd hate...and it didn't just get popular, cuz of singing and pretty people. Every character hit and every actor was well cast and the writing was good and the show had such a strong voice.

For what it was, in the beginning, the show was kinda perfect. And if it would've kept growing and learning from its mistakes, like a new show does, then yeah...high praise. But none of that happened. Instead it went mainstream and turned into an American Idol-ish CW show. But maybe that's just what it was trying to be the whole time.

How you guys doin with The Americans?

I had to put the show on pause, cuz it's draining as ****. :smh:

The tension is thick, and I love the acting, but damn it, I'm so freakin tired of the shadows and dark filming, can't see or know what the hell is goin on. Just mindless mission after mindless mission. So I just stopped watchin weekly, and think I'll just plow thru on a weekend at some point. I can't do the weekly stuff no more.

Americans has been a very solid show. I've really liked every episode of the second season so far.

After never having seen House Of Cards & then binge watching seasons 1 & 2, I can honestly say I've enjoyed watching an episode a week with this show, True Detectives, & NBC's Hannibal.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind binge watching, but watching weekly has been nice too... Kinda feel like it's a discipline to watch a show weekly...

True Detective is the first show I watched mostly live.

Every other show I watch off my dvr.

Can't seem to find time to sit down to watch live TV outside of football (you guys call it soccer)... & even then I watch a couple of games off the dvr too...

Americans is so good...but yeah...it's dense, and the tone is pretty relentless. Sometimes it does feel more like a book slowly unfolding, in that Wire kinda way, but it's really good book. And it's so unpredictable. The only knocks I'd give are last season maybe had more action (but that might just be cuz of the last few eps), and a couple players feel like they been loungin, waiting to blow up.

The Americans has been great but I'd say not as great as the 1st season but only because they've slightly transitioned to a bit more methodical and more tense show like you say which I think it's really aiming to be. If you plow through a string of eps you will be drained though like damn  I dunno where you stopped off at but any 3 eps in a row is gonna be a lot. Too many feels. Be prepared man.

I can feel you on weekly, netflix spoiled me. I'm not as hype to watch GoT knowing I gotta wait another week. Almost the same for Mad Men.

Hannibal is ******* draining. Every little dream/imagination sequence added on top of the thick heavy rich double entendre/metaphorical dialogue in certain scenes leave you like :smh: :x :smoking The show it too good. Gotta really compliment the the composers for the score and how they establish an atmosphere and tone. Then the visuals :wow: :x :smh:
