Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I can't watch Seinfeld while smoking. This show is so damn genius. It's every subtle thing that happens in life. Kramer is the og hipster. If someone could include social media then that show would be genius. The subtle revenge. Every little thing that happens in an episode comes back later. It's a clinic on show writing.

So after getting the bad news that the 4th season of The Borgias got canceled cuz Showtime are some cheap bastards I decided to start watching The Tudors (mainly for a big dose of Natalie Dormer).

I mentioned earlier that Henry Cavil can actually act. I'll go further to say Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a great actor (continuing the trend of actors with Rhys in their name being talented actors), at least with what he had to work with here writing wise. Unfortunately it gets repetitive and limits his range.

The Tudors started off real good. The acting is nothing to complain about but damn these writers are so limited in scope. This is a step down if you watch The Borgias and Game of Thrones. After a while it's not about pace but plot. They drag like crazy. Not to mention the show isn't about the Tudor dynasty. The series should've been renamed King HenryVIII cuz it's solely about him and that would be fine given how good Meyers is at playing him but they literally spent an entire season which eventually led to whining about getting this divorce and it wasn't even concluded by the end of the season. Had to wait until S2 to get to that.

I just never been witness to such a long process given how other kings were able to get divorces and how bad it was from a writing perspective. It just seemed to be the same things over and over; complain about the divorce, stunt on a war with France, then stunt on a war with the emperor and Italy, denounce Luther and prop up the Pope, then secretly follow Lutherans or your own near secular ideology and **** on the Pope. The handling of the topics and some bumbling scenes really do make these other shows seem so more sophisticated especially when it comes to the backstabbing back room dealing slick manipulative talk that Little Finger, Varys, and Tyrion do so well. Plus the speeches have nothing on my boy Jeremy Irons as the Borgias Pope. Then there's very little fighting so far. They've had their fair share of beheadings, torture, and killings but nothing like the Papal army vs. France or a real villainous capable enemy like Caterina Sforza or something like what we've seen with the battle of Blackwater Bay.

Going off history I know they won't be able to cover everything but the way they do time skips is crazy. Henry's daughter aged super fast.

Not trying to completely **** on the show cuz they try and it's already long been off air but it's really not much of a surprise it only had 4 seasons.

If it wasn't for Dormer, Meyers, and seeing the church get ******* on I wouldn't be still watching while I'm at the end of S2. It also almost makes me want to watch the Boelyn Sisters movies.

First Trailer for The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby starring Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy - http://wp.me/p2CCWq-3GD

Given the appreciation expressed in here recently for movies like Blue Valentine, Like Crazy, etc., I think a few of the regulars in here will be seeing this.

Kind of disappointed it doesn't actually have anything to do with the Beatles song though, as Elanor Rigby is one of my favorite Beatles' tunes.

I watched the 1st season of The Tudors when it originally aired and the 1st episode of season 2. I just stopped watching after that. Been wanting to start up again. I know dude went through a bunch of wives. Didn't like what he did to his 1st wife, my thick bae Mrs. S.

If anything going off of the paintings this show does a great job of making these queens look better than they possibly were.

When I seen Ms. S I was like :wow: :pimp:

It's only 17 min right?

See, I thought the same damn thing. But my friend is swearing they wouldn't drag people to the theater for 17 freaking minutes.

You use the same site as him I take it, where you hear about the 17 minutes?

RCK, there is ZERO chance of bootlegging there, they scan you, take your phone, have ushers pace the isles. It's pretty comical.

@ServeChilled81 @shogunFinished Rectify s1. A bit on the slow burn side but overall very enjoyable. I'd have a hard time recommending it to most but I thought it really hit that fish out of water feel ala Brody in Homeland s1 with some small town feel of Broadchurch mixed in with that southern style of True Detectives.
Rectify kinda made me feel like I was watching one of those prison / detective documentary shows on a&e. I liked the feel of it.

The scene where his sister heard him enjoying his magazine and when he got a haircut were entertaining.
yall started watching season 2 yet?  It's 2 episodes in now

You're only getting 17 minutes bro

They do this type of preview stuff all the time. I remember going to one for Avatar a couple of years ago.

ServedChill81, i haven't yet. Gonna tell my bro to get me the episodes. How is it so far?

I caught up on Ray Donovan, now not sure what to go with next.. this Rectify talk is kind of interesting - plus Scottie from Suits is in it so that's a plus.
