Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

^

That's a lot of changes. Like my man up there said. You either like them or you don't. I can understand someone not liking the franchise.

I love it tho. :pimp:

 I know. I'm just saying I don't care for the story/plot of these movies at all so if i'm suppose to be down to watch a franchise there better be some likeable characters. I simply suggested some ppl I like to see while being fair as **** when choosing replacements

I could've went real left and ask for unattainable top actors or just females I like that wouldn't fit. Like I aint say give me PSH or Fassbender or Halle Berry or Zoe Deschanel.

I'm totally fine with BIg J's view on it and I'm cool with being on the side that simply doesn't like it.

what percentage of this thread is Fast and Furious related?

I think you had to watch Fast and Furious as they came out.. you can't just jump into it now.

You had to go out to see the first one in theaters and they tried to actually make it a real movie  They had Ja Rule .. all the corny lines... it's only after you watch it a few times you realize how dumb and hilarious it is. The 2nd one was a legit sequel that was weaker.. the 3rd was just trying something new.. it was only when they got to the 4th, that they knew what they were doing and played to their strengths.

By the 5th.. the first one became a cult hit had this bizarre following and fanbase.. and then they actually made a legitimately awesome action movie with the 5th one while rewarding the original fans

I don't think many would "get it" if they just marathoned all 6 for the first time. You had to be a kid or a teenager or 22 when you first saw the original and you had to drive home pretending to shift 80 times like Vin DIesel  Despite the last two making a ton of money and being real action movies.. it's still a cult franchise. You can't really convince people to enjoy a cult movie.. you either like it or you don't.

I basically came to post this. I remember the first one in theaters. It was cool because I was in middle school and that was the time we were all into cars and imports. Because of that, we all felt like this was one of the greatest movies ever. I had a friend that knew the first 40 minutes of that movie word of word. I remember theaters were sold out for part 2. Everyone was there. It was corny but it was funny, good soundtrack, terrible quotes. So if you were around for the first two and liked them, you're a fan. Then you got older and realized how ridiculous and funny they were. I watch these movies all the time and just laugh out how bad they are but I kind of grew up with the cast now. I had low expectations for 4 but ended up really liking it. 5 was wild and had me open. 6 was just like 5, mad action and wild scenes. My favorite film series of all time.

I already said my peace on F&F:

CP's doing a little too much.

The og The Fast and the Furious is a cable classic.

The quotables and thin line where you can't tell if it's so bad it's good or just so good is rare.

2 Fast 2 Furious is a shell of the first, with only half the original cast and half the charm. So bad it's kinda good. So ghetto that it's pretty charming. Not lowkey iconic like the first one, cuz they ****** up not bringing the original cast back, and the movie just flat out sucked a lot of the time.

Tokyo Drift...completely new cast (:nerd:), and not as much suck as the 2nd one. I think people were hyped when it came out cuz it was better than the 2nd one, drifting was cool and Asians were getting their props. And Han was that guy. But I saw it again after Fast Five and it's basically a straight to DVD movie compared to the first 2.

Fast and Furious brought it back. They figured out the simplest **** in film history. You have an ensemble that people vibed with and loved...you bring them all back. Not 1...all of em. So they finally did, and it felt right, like it hadn't since the first one. It's polished. It feels modern compared to the other ones, and it's a decent flick...still bad good, but some solid good in there.

Then Fast Five happened. By the time you watch the others and get a feel for what it is this series hits, this is gold standard. This one of the greatest action comedies ever imo. I love this damn movie. And what's amazing is, they take pieces from all the other sequels and make them so good in this, you'll convince yourself the whole series is better than it really is. The perfect mix of nostalgia, campiness, jokes that hit and legit unexpected ludicrous badassery. Think Bad Boys 2.

And it doesn't exist on it's own. You can't really just jump in and enjoy the 5th one right. It's holding the first one down from when you were young and never expecting it would grow with you and make the greatest comeback in film history. And at the same time...The Rock's career basically lines up with the FF movies, where it's like son...why haven't you taken over?...what the **** with this tooth fairy ****? And Vin's too. :smh:

Then the Fast and Furious Six is good. It could've been amazing, but it was just a good followup. More on Fast and Furious' level than Fast Five. It didn't flow all that well, and they story wasn't tight like the 5th one, and the jokes weren't that great.

Very underrated imo...a part of what made Fast Five such a phenomenon was the soundtrack. Danza Kuduro was that jam all summer off that movie. And Don Omar and Tego Calderon who did the track, had funny parts in the movie to. I think them and their music was the glue of that movie, so when they didn't come back for the 6th one, it was really missed...at least by me.

And now I'm doing too much. Just watch em...and if you don't wanna watch em all, watch 1, 4 and 5. That's a ill trilogy imo.
They're movies I'd never really outright defend, if it wasn't for dudes doing too much dumping on em like they're Transformers.

Have any of you guys watched ... Black Mirrors.
Love Black Mirror. It's so ahead of it's time, that people are gonna find it eventually and treat it like Equilibrium after The Matrix.

@MrONegative
you see the trailer for this "The Colony" wannabe called Utopia on Fox |I
:smh: You had to remind me? I heard the UK version was good. I'll check that one of these days.

mronegative mronegative , let's have a talk through spoilers about Black Mirror, Episode 1.

His wife is a *****.

Just loved the undertones and quickfire references to the digital age. Certain scenes that are just simple conversations between two people or a group were the most enjoyable for me, personally.

I had to look it up myself since I've seen it mentioned several times but how you not gonna recommend me what is essentially a British modern version of what ppl are calling a hybrid of the Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected??!!!!

Now I got to go hunt down some episodes seeing this series first aired in 20cotdamn12 :smh:

Too much stuff to watch sometimes.

Wait so Armageddon has Steve Buscemi and Pancake House Guy reunited? FARGOOOOOOOO

Jersey Boys was all sorts of awful. Too long, misguided, and saying John Lloyd Young was miserably miscast as Frankie Valli would be an understatement.

Hypothetical here's once were kinda on the subject if you can recast any movie which one & who would you cast I've thought about this & I want to recast step-brothers with harrison ford & Clint Eastwood as Brennan & dale & Gary busey as Adam Scott's character .

Just caught Crazy,Stupid, love on TV and I think it's really good.

Wasn't expecting it to be that funny.

Good movie. Was pretty highly regarded around here when it first came out, IIRC. Probably could have been 15-20 minutes shorter, but other than that, very solid. Nice performances by Carrell, Gosling and Stone.

I didn't like how he went back to his wife. I hate cheaters, especially people who cheat in a marriage. I liked the scene where they were punching each other.

So many good performances in this movie. Smart writing. Great film.

All 3 are pretty good.

Been a good year for popcorn flicks.

I would say all three.

Didn't really like X-Men: Days of Future Past. Big First Class fan.

Neighbors has some great scenes. When Byrne gets Franco and the blond to make out, first time partying at the frat house, Robert DeNiro party, etc.
