Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I was a little bummed out initially when I found out  Franco wasn't in it. Glad to know it's dope without him.

@ChillBroSwaggin
So youd say 9/10 for sure it sounds eh
Easily imo. For sure better than Godzilla and Xmen. I'd put this up there with Grand Budapest, Lego Movie, Edge of Tomorrow and Snowpiercer as a favorite of mine this year. As a sequel I was suprised how good Capt 2 was and maybe it helped shine more since the first Capt was so basic and blah. Rise topped a really good movie and just built it up bigger and better.

Good to know.

I'm for sure going to have to watch Snowpiercer. I keep saying this though.

Captain 1 was my fav out of all the Marvel movies so far. Cap 2 was inferior to me.
It's crazy what one man thinks is dope in comparison to, Gotta love the feedback, at least I do anyway

I think my big gripe with Capt 1 was Bucky really didn't hit it off for me making the Winter Solider kinda ring hollow in the sequel. I did like Red Skull and some of the orgin stuff though.

The 2nd season of Hemlock Grove has released, also happens to be my birthday today. 1st season was weird. Will check out the first few episodes of this season and see how it is.

When I see the co-worker who recommended runner runner to me, I'm going to beat him with a Homey The Clown sock... Repeatedly. That was one of the most contrived movies I've ever seen. What studio exec approved that movie to release in theaters? That was a straight to red box special... :rolleyes That movie was dumb for no reason...

Caught Planet of the Apes last night. It was pretty good, Ceaser made this movie. It was more of a character study and rise to power. The humans were more props to push the story forward rather than being  necessary.

A few things
1. Ceasers son was a chump, he didn't do much and for all that you didn't really get a sense of who he was. he was just kind of there for most of the movie until the plot called for him to do something...semi heroic.
2. The reasons the humans were even in conflict with the Apes was ridiculous. The whole reason the war started was because people needed power, even to the point one of the characters says "They don't need power, electricity, thats what makes them strong" Humans have been around for around 5k years, electricity has been around for about one hundred and fifty...it's pretty clear in that type of scenario, going to war with the Apes at that time would have been foolish, Humans could have blew up the bridge, built alternative sources of power, then attacked the Apes by ship/all those damn skud missiles they had when need be, finding out exactly where they are. Apes can't swim that good and they were on an island...isolated, ya could have taken your time to dispose of them properly instead of rushing for power...power you don't really need.

3. The "good guy" human was so wack. He wasn't very smart and wasn't a very good character. Plus his son was shallow, "He's seen things no child should have to see" but still is to soft to really make a difference when the Apes attack.

4. The villian human(Gary Olderman) was wack also. His little plan to blow up the building didn't work...like at all, it' just made Ceasers fight slightly more interesting. He didn't even have that much to do in the story, he was very shallow.

5. Lastly, there were a lot of pot holes, once glaring one, Olderman said "We have contacted someone else" but in the scene right before that he is talking about how he they haven't made contact with anyone...overall the script wasn't very well written.
Overall, I'm not disappointed, Ceaser was a bad *** and Koba was a damn smart Ape. But...the story was good, it just wasn't very well written; so many cop outs, so many things were convenient. It's a character study... and they had some damn good characters (Ceaser and Koba)

If there is a third one, it better be the ish, they are slowly expanding and I think they could take on a military, they way they fight, they waythey move, we should get to see Ceasers military genius in tihs...

Just came back from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and was pretty let down. Just didn't do much for me. Jason Clarke is a solid lead, but there were too many moments where it simply got out of hand even in the world of Apes running society. Somethings were just too beyond the realm of comprehension. It dragged as well, too long. Wish I had a better view on the film but it did nothing for me.

I was going to wait and finish Rectify first but...I'm ready for some Famke Janssen.

Just got back, and I may think differently tomorrow, but IMO, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a prime example of why I never criticize Michael Bay for concentrating on the humans in his TF films. As engrossing as the story of the apes were, I had a disconnect with the entire film. Maybe it was a matter of me just marveling at the effects on the apes? Don't get me wrong, it has it's emotional highs and lows and some of the "dialogue" is smart, but my main gripe is that the film was beat for beat very predictable.

With that said, I still have to highly recommend seeing this. Maybe others will have a better experience. Seems like the crowd I saw it with was very pleased. The effects are great, the little time that the humans are on screen is very good and it's a great setup for the third film.

Also, 3D is not necessary. I didn't stay through the post credits, but I heard there is something in the end. From what I've read, it isn't worth sitting in the theater the extra minutes.

I don't know why Hemlock Grove gets no Love. Everyone still likes that shi t show TrueBlood, Hemlock makes me think that this is what TrueBlood wanted to do and were, before the popularity and game took over

:smh: i remember i asked how this movie was. CP recommended it. after the film : | . movie was hot garbage. thats what a like about this thread though. variety and different points of view.

CP is still cool peeps.

I knew Runner Runner was gonna be terrible before I saw it and I still kinda asked if I should watch it and in what order along with a bunch of other movies (as I recall CP's suggestion had it listed as well  pretty low though).

I mean don't get fooled cuz Batfleck is in it and he's been doing better movies and directing better ones of late. You know if a movie with him is gonna be good by who else is in it. Justin Timberlake as the lead, Anthony Mackie, generic use of Gemma. The movie shouldn't have had a theatrical release. Typical terrible JT movie. It wasn't even Savages entertaining bad.

No redeeming qualities really.

Exactly. Savages is a good bring up. Great cast, vanilla story, but I love Savages for some reason.

Runner had a solid 4-5 people, but lacking story. Was sort of a knockoff Wall Street. I saw it for the two hours, it didn't put me to sleep, and it was ok for sleezy Ben, solid Mackie, and then Gemma. Anything Gemma gets a watch. Sorry, I'm not sorry.

I wonder how many more lead roles hollywood will give timberlake. He's pretty bad. He's not even funny on snl despite everyone overrating what he does on there.

Once In Time flopped, I lost all faith in JT as a viable leading man. He's a tertiary performer at best.

Speaking of Gemma, is Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters worth the watch?

Tonight's a dope night for tele.

Halt and Catch Fire
Leftovers
Ray Donovan
Masters of Sex

Lizzy Caplan needs more roles. I used to get clowned by my ex fiancé and her fiends because I thought Janis (Caplans character) was the hotter girl in Mean Girls.
