Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I'm on episode 7 of fargo. Still not sure if I like it. I hate how slick billy bob is and how much of a slimeball bilbo baggins is.

Watching Moon for the first time :smokin

Watched True Confessions earlier. For a movie with Duvall and DeNiro in it I expected so much more 3.5/8

^ Speaking of Sam Rockwell, I had no idea he was starring in the remake of Poltergeist. :nerd:

I have no idea how this will go.

ironman 2 was on last night. Forgot rockwell was in it. A shame they made 2 ironman sequels that people don't really care to watch again.

Big Mama's House is on HBO right now. Nia Long looks really good in this movie.

Oh wow :smh: :wow: Moon is all types of ****** up but really good.

It's like that mind **** twist from Oblivion but diving in to the core of it and stretching it out so it can match the hopelessness of The Road.

Once they established the first little twist I knew he was up there for much longer than 3 years :smh: Got me wondering whether the OG ever went to the Moon or if he just sold his DNA for money.

Nice ending though 7/8. Will watch again.

the ending to the rock is a perfect set up to national treasure

It just really isn't good.

Word to my views on after seeing it. Every time I see it in this thread now I just :smh:

You didn't like Prada???? I never knew that.

That film is excellent. 4 really, really good performances. Not sure how anyone could knock it.

Devil Wears Parada fans are fans from day 1, like the first view. The cast was dope at the time and is today if you were a fan then. Vinny Chase and Mia Thormopolis in a fashion oriented film. That's a winner.

You're either in or out on it really.

I could understand someone not liking that movie if they see it now for the first time.

vinny chase and the reporter boyfriend in house of cards are supposed to be the average man for the audience to feel bad and root for but i hate both of those bums and wish them the worst

A random thought about 'Prada,' I always get mad whenever Anne tosses the steak in the sink. **** looked so juicy and tender.

Just saw Hercules and the Amazon Women earlier. I forgot how ridiculous, yet entertaining, the show was. Wish that Lucy Lawless were cryogenically frozen at that point in her career and revived for WW now.

Also been catching random episodes of TWD during their marathon. Watching the episode where Tyreese and Carol are in the cabin with Lizzie and Mika. It's a 'simple' episode, but it's a rollercoaster of an emotional ride. One of my favorites.

4? There's Streep and then who? Even if I agreed with say Hathway (which I don't), the movie really isn't about anyone else and nobody else really stands out going off current memory.

And don't even get me wrong, Streep did her thing but it's not like the script was that solid. The characters in this were a little too easy to portray at times in some of the shakier scenes. Streep had less than a handful of demanding acting scenes throughout the whole movie.

This was my view on the movie after yall dudes had another series of love posts about the movie back in Dec.:
I just watched The Devil Wears Prada for the first time in a very long time and going off recollection it's about the same :smh: Might be even more displeased with the movie than the first time around. Guilty pleasure (I don't even do that phrase) or not I don't see what so many of yall liked about it. The movie almost has no redeeming qualities. Felt a bit depressing :smh:

The only time I got a chuckle was when she sent ol girl out to get the unpublished Harry Potter book.

Other than that I felt the movie was entirely too long. Another 2hr flick that doesn't need to be 2hrs.

Almost think it has some message when they say what if Streep's character was a man she wouldn't be seen in the light most see her in as the dragon lady and Anne's character starts to sympathize with her right around they bring up the divorce and her kids but they do a hard heel turn on that in the end. Like I was fine with her just being the mean demanding boss that is making moves in a million dollar industry just cuz that's how the world works.

Then in the end shorty doesn't even tell homey from Entourage that she was sucking off the Mentalist in Paris. Finally learns her lesson and gets a new job in the field she should've stuck with applying to from the jump. Whole movie just didn't give me that feel of something I'd keep on in the background or ever want to watch again if it's on tv no matter at what point it's at.

Did I miss something here? Feel like I almost wasted time.

The more yall mention it the more my recollection of the movie makes me wince.

It just really isn't good.

Wasn't my first time seeing it when I saw it again late last year but I wasn't fond of it the first time I saw it all those years ago either.

If I went further with some of the stuff you're saying, I wasn't a big fan of the cast either, there's Streep, Blunt, and the designer dude whose name I forget who were good but the Mentalist was annoying, so was Hathaway. I don't care for Vinny Chase but nothing was wrong about what he did.

I'd have to agree with you, hear. A couple of punks.

edit: Inglorious Bastards is on in the background, not a bad background movie.

Chef is about to replace it though.

4. Streep, Tucci, Anne, and Blunt.

Tucci and Blunt were more comedy/quirk type additions, not Oscar buzz or anything, just well done, well acted characters. Both witty with dialogue, interacted well with Anne, facial expressions (Blunt mostly) the whole 9.

The Mentalist and Vinne Chase were merely token pieces, but useable enough.

It may run a smidge long, but it's still a viable film on the select few who determine a billion dollar industry. Like the scene with the near identical belts that damn near got Anne decapitated. To us, same belt. To the industry, vastly different. Crazy, but it worked. Be like doin a movie about Napa Auto part warehouses or somethin. They pull this off.

I don't place it as a 10 or Oscar or anything, just a solidly done film, well performed, likeable characters, enough humor, and a peak behind the curtain of how that industry moves. We as men may not have the interest in it like women would, but that's kinda why some of us may like it, it's not even really meant for us, but still has qualities to it.
