Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Its official.....Jurassic World just took the OW record away from TA1. $209mill :x

Knew they under-predicted on purpose. Universal didn't wanna make the same mistake as Disney like when they predicted TA2 to gross over $200m and it kept dropping until the actuals came out to be $191m

Nuts. JW never expected this. I wonder what made everyone go see this like that..the buzz before the movie was pretty meh

Maybe Star Wars should recast Pratt as the lead in the Star Wars movie coming out next year

Boy, Mr Chandler finally got him some lip service from Mrs Ives. Get it brother.

Nice. I gotta catch up on this season. I hope that frail jared leto lookalike doesn't initiate a threesome with them. Probably still busy with ladyboys for now.

It'll keep that record for about six months.

Would be amazing if SW can take the record, but i doubt it. December blockbusters are more built for the long run, dominating the weak January and February months like Avatar did. I think the record for a December opening is still like $80m from The Hobbit or something

Obviously SW is a whole nother beast so it will be interesting :nerd:

SW is going to DESTROY that record. Especially if it's actually good.

I agree. Like you said yesterday, it didn't seem like there was all that much palpable buzz for JW. Yet, its still setting box office records. The hype for SW is already crazy. Even if it gets mediocre reviews, it will break records.

Truly tho, I have no idea how Jurassic is doin all these numbers. I'm flat out stunned on this one. I haven't seen hardly anyone hyped to see it, I don't know more than a couple people that actually did go see it, and then it not only breaks the record, it did it pretty impressively. No long holiday weekend, no Tuesday night opening, nothing.

Staggering. :smh:

There's a good chance that I alone will help push SW into the record books. 50/50 at least.
I believe this

Whats your record for most theater viewings of a Star Wars movie?

I'm probably gonna end up seeing VII 4-5 times

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies so I was definitely hyped to see it. Went to the IMAX showing (btw, Eugene is doing reserved seats now, you best believe I'll have the first seats in the house for SW) on Friday night and there wasn't an empty chair. Not a single one. Even all of the handicap spots were taken. There were lines for 3D showings outside their respective theaters.

Outside of the HP7 midnight showing, I've never seen the theater that packed.

2, Episode 3.

Ep 4 was 1

Ep 5 was 1

Episode 7, without George Lucas, if it's good? Now that I'm an adult, with my own money? Whatever's in checking that week, likely ends up in a theater. If it sucks, I'll see it once or twice.

Regal? :nerd:

I "might" have a secret spot I know of that is ALWAYS clean and empty. And it's a solid theater, but I don't know about IMAX. I might use that one come December. We'll see.

Yessir, the Regal 15 in Valley River Center. When I Fandango'd my JW seats last week, I was able to pick my seats. Almost fell out of my chair with happiness. It's a whole new world now.

Kind of ashamed to admit this now, but I saw Ep 1 like 6 times in the theater.

Jesus. You must love being tortured. I BARELY made it thru the first one, I was FURIOUS. Then I saw Maul, and calmed down.......then I was FURIOUS.....then I saw Maul, and calmed down, then I was...........

^^^ I just kept seeing it with people who hadn't seen it before. First my GF (now wife), then my brothers, then friends, etc. I also went back once because some dude I worked with was like, "you need to stay until the end of the credits." That turned out to be nothing. So, it ended up being a lot.
