Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I thought the ending of Ex Machina was ideal. I'd give the movie 7/8... I know Alex Garland has written some stuff, but is this his directorial debut?

The cast was perfect, Domhnall Gleeson & Oscar Isaac. Looking forward to seeing Alicia Vikander in Guy Ritchie's Man from UNCLE. Isaac is doing very interesting work, I just wish he wasn't doing any douche bag xmen movies...

Kool sighting :wow: :wow:

One of the earliest contributors to establishing this thread in its infancy. Good to see ya man.

It was 100+ out here today, so cranked up the AC and plowed thru some movies.

Jurassic World.
Not bad, but not #4 all time worthy. :smh:
Pratt tho, he does his thing. Really enjoyin his momentum.
Bryce Dallas Howard. Yum.
6.5/8

Get Hard.
Was alright. Kind of predictable, but not terrible terrible. Just decent. I laughed out loud maybe once or twice, everything else was a chuckle.
Alison Brie. Yum.
6/8

The Gunman.
I'll be damned. Better than I thought. Not sure why it wasn't a Jason Statham movie. Didn't expect this from Sean Penn, but he did work. Midway thru, he dead *** looked like Pat Riley, no joke. Was hardest I laughed all day.
6.5/8

Tryna see Antman tomorrow.

Thanks CP, it's nice to see this thread is still alive and thriving. It's one of the good ones on here. Props.

Watched Rope again last night just cuz :pimp: (well really cuz that HDtv channel is steady playing the best Hitchcock films back to back to back :smokin )

I needed a sci-fi fix so I checked out that show Ascension on netflix. Pretty damn good. Some sexy women on there. No nudity but good butt shots of nicely shaped cheeks and covered boobs. Tricia Helfer's hot self is on the show and still looking good.

Watched that movie The Physician last night. A good watch. It's about a guy from England who has seen the medicinal skills Jews have and wants to become a physician too. He has to travel to the Middle East.

Jaws 3 was quite a production. Really used the whole Sea World park as a set. Plus, 3-D (which looks comical now). Regardless, it was an ambitious project and a decent movie.

Plus, young Leah Thompson was very cute. :nthat:

lmaooo NAH man, **** just looks like a parody. any scene with a shark was atrocious, although I did like the plot. it'll never happen but i would see a 2015 remake.

I was laughing pretty hard at the 3D "effects" during the movie's last act.

finally saw Jurassic world.. really enjoyed it.. obviously wasn't Oscar bait or anything

but they kept it pretty simple.. stuck in their lane, per se..

wonder how they are going move forward with a sequel and if they are going bring back pratt and Bryce (or the kids).. or whether they'll go 'dawn of the planet of the apes' with it

also after seeing that, I can kinda see pratt pulling off indy now

and I know I said this in the marvel thread.. not sure if I said it in here though.. but the older kid (nick robinson) should have heavily been considered for the spiderman role (said this after I saw 'the kings of summer')

Is 'Joy' part 2 to Silver Linings.

And if I hear that god damn Rolling Stones 'you can't always get what...' song again

If you can't be more original than to add that song in, you are wasting your money on the Score, the Trailer, or whatever else might include that God damn song.

I was waiting for Chris Tucker to show up in that Joy trailer.

After American Hustle, I'm not really looking forward to seeing any more O'Russell joints. I dunno.

Let me know if he makes something a bit more raw and real like The Fighter again, if not I don't think I want to see him use these same actors. It's not the same with other directors using actors over and over again like QT.

'Southpaw' RT very early update: 5 positive, 3 negative. As expected, no word on 'Pixels' on the week of its release.

‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ Reboot Headed to NBC

NBC is in the early stages of developing a modern reboot of “Xena: Warrior Princess” with original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The network is currently seeking writers for the reboot and it is unclear what role Lucy Lawless, the original star, will have in the series. Lawless has been vocal about her desire to return to the roll, hinting at a revival series for years and reiterating that at this month’s Comic-Con International. The new Xena is described as “a sophisticated and smart superhero for a new generation,” having “the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of ‘The Hunger Games” Katniss.”

Xena debuted on the 1995 “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” episode “Unchained Hearts.” Originally intended to die off in her first appeared, the character was instead spun off into her own syndicated series that aired from 1995 to 2001. The heroine spent her days traveling with companion Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor), battling injustice in all forms from man to monster to myth. Since the show ended, rumors have swirled about a big-screen version that hasn’t panned out yet. However, Xena has appeared in a straight-to-video animated movie with Herc, a series of novels, various video games and comic series’ from Topps Comics, Dark Horse and Dynamite Entertainment.

Lawless has kept busy since the 2001 Xena finale. After a series of TV movies and guest spots she played D’Anna Biers on “Battlestar Galactica,” voiced Wonder Woman in the direct-to-video “New Frontier” animated movie, a role on the short-lived superhero-themed “No Ordinary Family” and appeared as Lucretia in both “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” and “Spartacus: War of the Damned.” She’s also had a recurring role on “Parks and Recreation” and “Ash vs. the Evil Dead” and appeared on Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Too soon. They needed to wait like 30 years before rebooting Xena for tv. So it's out of the generation's collective consciousness. Only other option would do a reboot for film but guess NBC don't want to risk that. If it aint Lucy Lawless I don't want it and that matters even more cuz she's still fine as **** and can still be Xena.
So with that said it seems even Lawless has been talking this up for some time now so hopefully NBC doesn't make a stupid decision to not bring her back.

NBC is so desperate now though :smh: I get this feeling they don't got much faith in these new shows they're about to launch after canceling their last batch earlier this year. Plus they're such fools for getting rid of Hannibal.

Plus I'm wondering if it's them turning down good pitches or if the really good creators are not going to NBC for w/e reason or like they're last on the list.

This is exactly what I thought when I looked at his filmography to be sure I just wasn't being too harsh on his recent work.
