Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Watching the newest episode of Dark Net which was on Hackers.
Got me thinking about the movie.
If love to see a remake of that. For sure.

Deadpool 6.9/8 7.5/8
It's exactly what the trailer says. Wasn't too heavy on DP's gimmick and the jokes hit. Felt most of the time he cursed, it just felt a tad bit forced. I always wonder why they pick certain mutants then change their powers for these movies. I'm sure they could have found a mutant with the powers that NTW used but I guess they just wanted to use her to fill that angst quota. Also with Colossus being comicely huge will we ever see him in human form again? That was a great Stan Lee cameo. Also nicely done with sneaking Bob in there. Any idea if they're going to make Vanessa into Copycat in a movie?

About the strikeout'd comment. Found out originally, Sam Gunthrie aka Cannonball was indeed in the movie ( he has the powers that NTW displays) but he was cut out due to budget and some other things so they just gave his powers to NTW

Anyway, wasn't ever a Costner fan but I like some of the roles he's taking. Sort of dipping in to that old man is the badass in an action movie genre that Neeson has established :smokin

It really is its own genre now. Seems like we get 2 or 3 of that kind of movie a year now. Wonder how long it will last? Probably will go away for a while when guys like Neeson get too old, then will have a resurgence when people like Leo and Bale hit their 60s.

saw **** in boots for the first time in while. zack killed it as humpty dumpty. so many lulz moment.

Found this funny.

Definitely would make a good FoD.

While Cumberbatch does resemble Beavis (or is it Butthead), he's way too much of a top tier thespian to do a movie like that.

Critics do tend to review comedies worse.. Anchorman and Zoolander both got 65% on RT or something like that.. so I take that as a more positive review than the % lets on.

But if it's getting like 20-30%.. then that's more cause for concern.

Man I went into Step Brothers in the theaters after the NY Daily News gave it 1 star. I thought I was about to waste my $12 but I couldn't stop laughing even after I walked out of the theater.

They deserve to get ghost peppers thrown in their eyes for only giving Step Brothers 1 star. That's ridiculous.

I haven't watched South Park in years, but the Jennifer Lopez Cartman hand-puppet episode is on right now and I am ******* crying.

comedy movies rated by critics means absolutely nothing. ive seen movies rated low and were hilarious. seen movies with high ratings that were crap. its probably the only genre that you have to base it with you watching a given movie.

Comedy is subjective as hell. One makes you laugh, might not make the next person so yeah take those comedy reviews with a SUPER sized grain of salt.

I know we talked about RT and Zoolander 2 earlier.. but I'm reading reviews and comments on reddit and they're just as disappointing.

It's not even like "Oh it's got mixed reviews", but the reviews are overwhelmingly negative

like it's Dumb and Dumber 2 status.

anybody ever watch a short film then just
eek.gif
to find that they made a feature about it? Napoleon Dynamite is my first thought in the short to feature category I think of but I saw this short years ago

amazing and I loved it. But
eek.gif
and

to when I finally saw and knew of the existence of the feature length only a few days ago.

spoiler for those with no intentions to watch the feature but saw the short. same character in both movies
completely butchers the tension of the mother-son controlling relationship that the short so greatly delivered dealing with no father(alcoholic) having that hung over his head. Dennis leaves denmark in the first 12mins with mom only seen 5mins tops

Deadpool 7/8

The meta humor/breaking the fourth wall stuff was great

They didn't really waste any of the running time. ie there wasn't any generic training scene, generic transformation scene, generic falling in love scene

Finally sitting down to start the Godfather Epic that HBO released, this is :pimp:. About an hour in so far.
