There are many great artists who have a great body of work goes as far as their music and do not fit the commercial mold or are known by the masses. However, that does not take away from their greatness as an artist because the masses do not know of them.

As nice as lupe is, I don't see him as the nicest thing since sliced bread.
I really enjoyed Food and Liquor, kinda like The Cool, and didn't check for Lasers
There are a lot more slightly less lyrical dudes I rather listen to

Lupe is the best rapper alive no doubt. He had the best debut album of the past 5 years and the best mixtape of the past 6 Revenge of the Nerds. Recognition isnt everything because with that logic MC Hammer is the best rapper ever.....

Agreed, but if you're going for the "accessible music" route he gotta come with a better work than LASERS. And these people on here also gotta stop making excuses for him. I agree man! It (LASERS) being released also doesn't kill his other body of work and how I view him as an artist. He was in a messed up situation and it is what it is.
