OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

Wasn't intentional? ehh

Someone should've stuck up for Tanger and not Kunitz

Look at the replay...puck was at Letang's skates...obviously a penalty should have been called because of the slash/trip. However, you know good and well that in the offensive zone, Ovechkin is ALWAYS looking for his shot...no matter where he is on the ice. Unfortunately, he missed and Letang got the worst of it by crashing into the boards. The only intent Ovechkin had was trying to get a shot on goal.

Funny how Letang comes back and he ends up being completely responsible for KILLING the Pens by taking a moronic penalty in the closing minutes of the game.

I have to say I have always taken a dim view on coaching and how much it matters in hockey.

but Caps went from bottom 5 possession team to top 10 in corsi close without that much personnel change. I guess I have to credit trotz.

It's all about the system.

Oates' philosophy wasn't conducive to puck possession, or winning hockey.

This is a good breakdown of everything that was wrong w/ Oates as a coach:

*edit*

Forgot to mention that some loser also threw beer on Ovechkin when he was leaving the ice last night.

We have quite a few unrepresented teams in here. I think we should all choose a club as our junior team and give them some love in here.

Sid HAS to be hurt. No other way to explain his play right now.

The team is lucky that MAF has been playing out of his mind all season.

Let me ask you and DMX...do you guys think that Mike Johnson is the right guy to lead the team?

KINGS finally in that 2nd wild card spot :smokin

Can't say I wasn't nervous about it. We always seem to do this every year. Going to be watching that Sharks vs Stars game pretty closely tonight. It makes the stadium series game a lot more important. 2 pts is a lot.

Dallas needs to get the win tonight and yes saturday is going to be legit!

we'll help yall out tonight... but we're coming for that wild card lol

So rewarding to see the Wings win in a shootout last night. Against the Blackhawks no less. AND Tatar used Kane's slow-down move to score right after Kane hit the post. I was in heaven

DSA - I feel your pain in the shootout. I watched the whole thing with my roommate (boston fan). It was like watching a car crash or something. Couldnt look away from the horrors.

I cant call it man.

I wont pretend to know much about the guy before he got here but its too early into the new regimes tenure to really get all judgemental. Ultimately the honus is gunna fall back on Fluery and obv our two big guns. The plugs around them are essientlly irrelevant. Although itd be nice to have Dupuis and one of Orpik/Nisk back. Weve tried so many different strategies as far as team building goes around these guys at some point they jus hafta show up and take over like true stars do. Kane. Toews. Quick. Lundquist. Just to a name a few guys that come to mind that treat the postseason like the postseason and can still dominate the reg season. Half the time it seems like Sid n Geno dont eem care anymore. I dunno if its Focus. Coaching. Schemes or what. They jus look flat and yea Sid hasnt been the 2 ppg guy hes been the past few years since comin back off the concussion.

You can go back 5 years on here to me callin out 87 for comin out off a SC clinching game because his knee hurt. I just dont think he really truly wants it anymore. He wants to be a great player but hed rather be healthy than hoisting a cup imho. Cant say i fault him either :/ and Geno is your typical Russian hockey player. Boy is LIVING out chea. I dunno though Kane obv like ls to get it in too but somehow he can still bring it 90% of the time. Id say Geno gives about a 75% rate of ***** given at any given time hes on the ice

Fluery i hafta eat crow on hes been a top 5 goalie easilyyyy the past 2 seasons and last years post season he was respectable at the least. Well need him to stand on his head if were gunna do anything this year
