Oh, man!  I was going to run this morning, but it wasn't a hangover - a sandwich I ate yesterday just didn't agree with me, so I pretty much hit snooze until work.  Would have liked that badge...

:smh: my GPS wasn't turned on for same reason during my run today

needed it for my 2016 re run video to show street view  since it's required that your 1st and last run needed to have GPS enabled :x

Bit of beach soccer yesterday and pulled up sore. Managed to go for a run later that evening but when I tried this morning no go.

Thinking its a groin strain. Booked in to get it checked this afternoon. Hopefully on the minor side.

Was hoping to start the year off with a run each day too [emoji]128530[/emoji]

Hope u have a speedy recovery goosh026 goosh026

Went to go take an screenshot of my New Years badge and it's no longer there :smh:

Checked earlier and I won that badge 3 times

Okay so for the past year I've completely slacked off and didn't essentially no physical activity, to make things worse my diet was the worse it has ever been. I decided that come 2016, they're had to be change, exercise and a healthy diet (yes I know this is the stereotypical new years resolution, but I am determined.) Today I ran 1.5 kilometers, it's a small step, but it's progress, and I have to start somewhere. I hope to stay consistent and post more in this thread, I've always thought of NT to be a very positive and supportive community. Seeing you all running so passionately has inspired me to keep going, running was something I once loved and have missed.

-Also the shoes I'm running in are Adidas Ultra Boosts, and so far so good

-THANK YOU NT FAM

Im gonna start to run again as well, man I was one of the first posters who really got this thread going then I completely fell off.

Download Nike+ or Runkeeper to track your runs, for me its nice to go back and see the trails and paths I ran and whatnot.

Thanks for the tip, I definitely will, do you by chance know if the apps need your cellular data turned on to track your runs?

They actually do NOT require you to use cellular data because the device you have should have an accelerometer. When I first used NIKE+ on my iPhone 3GS, I was able to track runs with the data turned off.

I used my vivoactive for the first time last night, and I loved seeing my customized data fields, especially the average pace! However, I'll admit that I miss hearing NIKE+ audio cues for every completed mile. Also at times, I feel like it's a bit too dim...

The thing that I love the most is its battery life and the extra battery life for my phone! When I used NIKE+ with my phone and as a music player, my battery would get drained down to 35% from a full charge. Checking my pace constantly doesn't help either. With my vivoactive taking the full energy load, I only use my phone primarily as a music player and camera post run. Now, I only use less than 10%! I was able to get mine on sale from FNL for $170 minus a $20 WC card with 12% back from ebates.

All in all, I feel like the vivoactive was a great investment for me, as it has the stats that NIKE+ doesn't have. Another clincher is the device has EXCELLENT battery life and a wide range of customization features with data fields, watch faces, widgets, etc...

The only cue you get on the vivoactive is it vibrates at every mile and it shows  mile time on the screen

Started running recently with this sub 30 degree weather :nerd:

Need to buy something that covers my whole face

Ran the first in a local series this morning.  I joined a local running club in the fall, and they have a 7-week Fudgcicle 5K series on Saturdays that started today.  I was thinking it would be 30-40 people, but it was over 450!  I'll miss next week for Disney, but it was great to start the year with that kind of a group run.

Happy New Years everyone! Anyone have any running goals this year or coming up? I'm going to start the year off with the bang and try an "ultra" marathon in 3 weeks, 135km in 3 days. There's no time limit, but just check points for each night. It might not be considered an ultra though, but more like a long f'n walk!

I did the same event last year and swore I'll never do it again, but here I am.

Also, I've been using the TomTom Spark Music for the past week and so far it's average. I've been getting at least 3.5 hours of gps/music per charge, it advertises as 5 hours. The GPS and step count are pretty on par with the fitbit charge. One of the biggest downside to the TomTom is the phone app, its complete garbage. It never connects so you'll have to use a computer to get more stats.

Probably too lofty but 2 miles in 11:30, maybe 11 if I'm ahead of schedule. I need to keep strength as well so can't just be running 24/7.

Goals are to keep consistent and to redo my first and only trail half marathon and blow that time out of the water

Goals for 2016:

Hit 1000 miles for the year
Complete Run to feed the hungry 10k at sub 50 mins
Add another race or two to my list

And it was to complete the 2016 Nike SF half marathon at sub 2 hours until Nike cancelled the event :frown: :smh:

2016 Goals:

BIG
1. 2016km (1,253mi) for the year
1B. 1,000mi
2. Race an official half marathon since it's been way too long since my last.

small
1. Log at least a 6mi run with a sub 7 min/per mile average
2. Get into training / weights

I jogged/hiked ~12mi in the Vom10s in three sessions, and I'm a BIG FAN! I feel like they'll be a work horse this year! :smokin
