I don't run much, nor do I particularly enjoy running for the joy of it.  However, I've been trying to run about 2x every 10 days.  I found my technique was really poor, and I could do just over 5 miles on the old style.  I tried the "proper" form today and could only get in a mile.  I was totally winded after the new style.  I'm going to be posting in here from time to time with updates.
 
Anybody experience lower back pain after running? ?

It is completely non exist while running but at night its there.
Not that bad probably 3 outta ten.

One of my guesses is that ive upped my mileage but i dunno

By "proper" running form, do you mean your footstrike? Like landing on your midfoot or forefoot, instead of your heel? If so, I had the same transition problems, but it only took a couple weeks to work through it. I could only do about a mile, and my legs were extremely sore the next couple days. Very much worth it though - better on the knees, and pace was better overall. Tough transition though.

I was basically just a casual runner, so I was just doing the heel striking method. My proper form is the more of an upright, balls of the feet/midfoot strike with the light strides.
 
Agreed - I was very much a heel striker when I started, and have transitioned to a midfoot strike, with shorter strides (really, proper strides, because I was over-striding before).  I've found a comfortable gait, and I have no idea if it's "proper", but I know that I barely even feel my strike some days, and that's helped with endurance.  It was a process - I was having trouble making two miles without walking, and then one day it clicked.
 
Furthest run so far in the Epics: 15 miles in 1:46 on the rolling hills of Sedona at 4500' elevation.

I need to start over with my form. I had to take a week of since my calves got really tight and hurt when I tried to roll them. 

So question, when checking for form do you have someone watch you or do you do it by yourself? I've seen those groupon deals where it cost like $40 and someone spends a hour with you and critiques your form and helps you fix it. Just wondering if something like that is worth it
 
What shirt do you guys usually use for running?? I'm looking to buy some long sleeve I don't like the fitted nor the dri fit miller long sleeve, looking for something in between fitted and rthe drift miller any recommendations??
 
Depends on the climate, but I have one of the DriFit Wool long sleeves that I love.

I am located in Texas I tend to run at night or in the morning, I do prefer long sleeve but want something in a got fit, I did try the fitted shirt but I feel as nike has gone wayyy to fitted
 
I looked into a running coach and found places that do a run analysis on video with slow motion to review after, and even pressure pads on your feet to tell you how your feet are stricking. I'm going to have to do more research 
 
Appreciate the hospitality. I am coming off a wedding weekend for one of my boys, so this was a miniature setback. Since I am back home, the covenant begins

Took two weeks off then went out today for a run and decided to work on my form. Couldn't even make it 1/2 a mile before I had to walk . Gonna continue it since getting injured sucks 
 
Ran 5 miles for the first time since October on Friday, felt great! My right knee felt a little funny later that night as I was working though...:frown:, no pain, but felt a hint of something.

Going to start running regularly starting next week, hopefully. I'm way better off now than I was last year, so I'm pretty stoked to start training for the Berlin marathon.
