From Buffalo, NY my cousin Richie Campbell. He's a legend in that city, he stop going to school after his sr season so all the majors left him alone andthe #1 juco still gave him a ride. He came home early, got high and ended up killing this lady on a bus

I went to school with a kid, Corey Williams, that was 6'7", 210 starting varsity in eighth grade. When we got to high school I remember watching himdunk from the free throw line with both hands as a freshman in gym class. Every week he came in with new NIKEs the coach had bought him. Even saw him drivingcoach's Porsche around town, without a license. As a junior he made First Team ALL-State in 1991. When we played Allan Houston's team he went toe totoe with him. This kid was easily one of the most athletically gifted people in the country. He had an NBA body as an eighth grader. Twice he jumped overpeople on the fast break in game.

He was being recruited hard. Up there with Jason Kidd and the rest of the crew. He had an early commit to JMU w/Lefty. He never did classwork, homework, tests,or exams. I can remember taking my health exam and Corey was shooting baskets to warm up for the game that night. He ended up leaving senior year for a prepschool, then heard something about a juco in Texas. Later heard whispers of WKU and Kansas giving him a look. He was always high and was never developedintellectually. What a shame. Imagine a Kobe skill set and body with an attitude to rip the rim down. Even watching the league now I don't see many thatcould match what he could do physically even as a middle-schooler.

Quincy Wilder is a Class of 1996 graduate of Decatur High School in Federal Way, WA. While at Decatur, Wilder led the Gators to the 1996 4A State Championshipgame where they lost to the great Sehome Mariners team. That year Quincy was voted as Mr. Basketball for Washington. Wilder played his college basketball atHighline Community College, USC, Boise State and Evergreen State. However, a myriad of personal issues kept Wilder from reaching his full potential. Wilder wasdestined to make the league. Currently, Wilder is serving a 25-year sentence after being found guilty for trafficking cocaine and possession of marijuana.

first time i saw him play as a hs freshman at mater dei dude drove by his guy baseline then yammed it on the center and i was like whoa. was featured on sportsillustrated as a hs freshman. guy had crazy hype and was a celebrity in hs. was going to ucla with baron but couldnt qualify and later ended up in bama. wouldhave never thought he would never make it in the league.

I would say from those that I saw play...Howard Nathan out of Peoria, Ill. He made it at least to Depaul and eventually the Hawks but couldn't really putit all together, what's crazy is me and my boy played a pick up game with him at Bradley like 2 months before he was paralyzed, and he still was mixin catsup.

Out of Chicago I'd say as mentioned before Ronnie Fields, because I had saw him play at the State Tourney against that Thornton squad

More recently out of Chicago who I played against...Nate Minnoy, dude was a monster, looked more like a fullback...I remember when he went into the crowd atthe Big Dipper ala Artest...or them two dudes out of Von Steuben...Ryne Hamblet and I forgot the other dude name...but I know they went JC in Florida and thatsabout it.

Evan Burns from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles. Was supposed to go to UCLA but something about his grades or classes not going through. So he had to playfor San Diego State. Then he got kicked out of there for some reason, I forgot what. He was in the same high school class as Amare Stoudemire and Evan Burnswas supposed to be more NBA ready than Amare.

Evan burns:

Dude was sick we called him the west coast lebron. He was like 6'8 220 with range for days and could dunk with the best of them. could of played 3postions. He played my school when I was a freshmen and shut are gym down. He was going to ucla and couldn't get in because of grades then got into sandiego state and got kicked out because of grades. Dude never went to class in high school and had people doing his work for him he would never go to class andkick it outside but never got in trouble.

whatever happened to DeAngelo Collins, he was a McDonald's AA with Amare, I remember MTV doing a show about him when he didn't get drafted.

I just knew you were gonna mention Ronnie Fields Haiti
laugh.gif
dudes a family friend but he was not a good basketball player..he was a great athlete though
he came by the crib a few weeks ago...my dude lookin old as hell

and william gates was from hoop dream..dude was so legit. a solid 6'2'' 210 with a crazy vert and shot.

More recently out of Chicago who I played against...Nate Minnoy, dude was a monster, looked more like a fullback...I remember when he went into the crowd at the Big Dipper ala Artest...or them two dudes out of Von Steuben...Ryne Hamblet and I forgot the other dude name...but I know they went JC in Florida and thats about it
i never liked nate from the biddy basketball days but i felt bad for dude when he tore up his knee. he shoulda dropped that weight.

another dude outta chi recently is Angel Santiago. dude had/got game but he listens to the wrong people hanging out with sharks and agents. smh

Ronnie looked like he was 30 when he was 18 so I'd imagine he looks like he's in his mid 50's now
laugh.gif

Imari Sawyer~ he used to KILL at King, he shoulda left chi for college tho. The spotlight on him was too bright, plus I've never been a fan of chicagopreps going to DePaul, even when Q was there.

There are so many stories like this. Everyone knows atleast one dude in school that everyone else swore was going to make it. Some of them never make aheadline outside of the school paper and then after a while you never hear about them again except from the people who played with them and the coaches whocoached them.
