No jokes, I heard from a former employee there that when they drop patties on the floor, they use that meat for the chili

I used to work at Wendy's and this is how they make their chili. Read at your own risk.

Spoiler [+]
After a burger is cooked too long (aka burnt), it's tossed into a pan of boiling water to keep it at temperature until it can be frozen. Once x-amount of patties (goes by weight) are gathered in this pan, they are put in a plastic bag that is dated, and then the bag is tossed into the freezer. When it's time to make chili, the meat is then boiled to death, the greasy water is drained off and then the meat is chopped up. and is ready to use. The chili consists of (at least used to consist of) a couple large cans of kidney beans, a pack of pre measured seasoning, bag or two of chopped frozen onions and green peppers and some water. Then it's boiled again until it's "cooked" and then it's served to the customers. Reason number 1, why I'll never eat the chili at wendys. Burnt and discarded meat. If any raw meat starts to spoil, that's cooked up/burned and then given the same treatment for chili. Now this was how it was about 10 years ago...i'm sure that things haven't changed that much.

Yeah i heard that chili is old burger meat.. 3 or 4 of my homies from h.s. worked at the local Wendys... I'm not a fast food guy but even when I was in college i stayed away from the chili..

I heard this before

But nothing worse than Sonic, when we were in class some girl was talking about they(the workers) never wash their hands after they go to the restroom or other stuff and don't wear gloves when they make the burgers, even when she knew they did this she still went, and some guy that works at Sonic walked in and someone asked him about it he was was like "Yea, our manager doesn't care if we go to the restroom and don't even wash our hands"

I was just like

I worked at Wendy's my first year is HS. This is still how they make the chili.

One time I had to make it and my earring was loose... it fell into the chili. I told my manager but he served it anyway. I never eat chili anywhere other than home now.

Was coming in here to support it, but I'm done with it after those responses.

I ve never even tried it once in my entire life. For starters it looks like puke and diariaha(sp?) soup. Also when I was a little kid I saw on the local news how a woman was suing wendys cuz she found a rat head in the chili.

I always assumed it was rat meat they served ever since that report.

Also way back in the day mcdonalds mcnuggets used to be mixed white or dark meat at random. I always used to throw away the dark meat cuz I thought it was made of rat.

my younger brother works there and had told me how they make it. i knew there was a reason i never liked it

Even knowing this I'll probably still eat it

They probably do worse stuff in other places, Meat that's a day old isn't that bad
