. dude's hitting me with "i know you're not about to hoop in those, you know what they are right?" i really didn't see what the big deal was. i've worn them casually before and today i just felt like switching up kicks so i rocked those.

so like the title states, are there some kicks you just don't hoop in?

nothing wrong with hooping cool greys bro. i hooped mine a couple times, but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. my feet were in excruciating pain.

I think you can hoop in any basketball shoes, as long as you want to.

if i'm not going to hoop in a shoe, i don't buy the shoe. right now i'm hooping in the air shox hyperballer and have my fingers crossed that more colorways will drop. never hooped in cool greys as i won't wear retros, but i hooped quite a bit in the three original colors of the XI back in the day. not sure what the quality is like on the cool grey re-retro, but as a general rule i would never hoop in a retro.

Those dudes are exactly why JB doesn't invest in quality anymore. They know people aren't going to hoop in retros anymore, so why make them to basketball-playing standards.

I know I probably told this story over and over here on NT; but the day the CG 11's dropped in 2001 - I took them right out the box that very day and hooped in them for my CYO league..

..and not a single damn was given.

and that's the way it should be. i remember playing in my town's rec league in the foamposite one the day it came out in '97 or the bred XI the day it came out the year before. they're basketball sneakers. they're intended to be played in. felt that way back then and still feel that way now. was wearing the south beach lebron to ball outdoors back in october and didn't give it a second thought and nobody else should either.

i thought the cg's were awful to hoop in after the fact though, i was so disappointed

i've been hooping in my royal foams lately and while they feel a little heavy, i absolutely love them.

Don't ever hoop in Air Force 1, Dunk, Timbs and dress shoes

OP can't be serious with the question

Ah come on... That's the smart alec way to answer this. Given the story that was included with the question, it was obviously concerning what shoes that are marketed as "basketball shoes" should or shouldn't be worn. Timbs aren't marketed as basketball shoes. Neither are any of the other shoes you mentioned (and PLEASE don't start an argument about the AF1. I don't care what anyone else says, Sheed's have some different tech, haha).

I wouldn't play in foams or most retros, not because of looks though, just because I'm picky about what I want to feel on my feet when I play. Similarly I wouldn't play in any shox (though I think there are a ton of people in that boat with me now) and most Air Maxes.

Honestly I wouldnt hoop in shoes I'm rocking casually. If you have two pairs, go for it.

They're your shoes, right? You get to decide what to do with them.

I will wear whatever. Usually like the Newer Nike Basketball line because of the new technology such as zoom air, and flywire

Will occasionally wear some Retros but for the most part avoid it now because of the comfort factor

I don't hoop in my dub zeros. Not because people tell me not to, but because it feels like im wearing 2 bricks

yeah, from now on im not gonna hoop in them anymore. not because they're flashy or big named or anything. but because the quality $%^&* sucks. im sticking to my foamposites.

^Damn, where have you been dude?...You can get far better+cheaper basketball shoes than cool grey 11s and foamposites.

i didn't buy them originally to hoop in lol. i bought em to rock casually, and then one day i just felt like hooping in them so i did. just went to the mall and almost bought a pair of hyperfuses, but i'm good with my foams for now

I always get that when I play on indoor courts.. I will always play in the kicks that I was wearing earlier in the day..

Yea if you hoop indoors, your shoes don't really get that messed up. I have hooped indoors in a number of Jordans and couldn't really tell, some of the patent leather ones will start to crease but thats about it.

Haha I've made that rule stand for ALL the kicks I've been getting lately, only worn casually

Got some old Vince Carter's that I use for pickup games every now/then

For some reason I can't ball in my 96 OG AJ XI breds.... they're just too holy for the hardwood.
