F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Haha, you guys shouldn't get too excited.  Crazy ish usually does, and probably will, still happen.  Seb's always been very lucky, so who knows, things may still fall into place for him.

I just need for my McLaren dudes to have a strong, clean race.

:smh: :smh: reliability issues, damn man it hurts

But you know what, Iceman is gonna get his first win. So I ain't even that mad

KIMI!

Seb was ridiculous, but
mean.gif
how things still eventually worked out for him... unbelievable.

Damn JB couldn't keep his position, he could have been on that podium for sure. At least he got us a haul of points for the Constructor's.

Congrats to the Iceman for the W :nthat:

How the hell did Vettel get all the way to 3rd, I smell something fishy here.

Nah, nothing fishy... he was just ridiculously fast... but it also helped that 6-7 cars in front of him retired, which is a lot.  Add these 6-7 cars back and he'd be in P10 (give or take) and that would have been a reasonable position.  Then there was that 2nd SC which came a lap or 2 right after he pitted for options... that benefitted him too.  I'm not "moaning" about his lucky, cuz this P3 was hard-earned, but you can't deny that a lot of things worked in his favor.

But what about when he passed Grosjean? He was completely off the track when he passed him and the stewards didn't even take one peek at that incident.

And I'm going to need to see an unedited version of the podium interviews. Speed channel blocked off most of what Kimi and Seb said for some reason :rolleyes

^ Yes, he gave Grosjean back the position and then later repassed him.  Everything was ok there.

Yeah, both Kimi and Seb swore... LOL

:wow: Just finished watching, hell of a race. Couldn't believe Vettel pulled in all those spots. Really glad Kimi got his first win, been waiting for him to get one. I was  at his conversations with his crew. When Vettel went off track and passed Grosjean he let Grosjean pass him so the stewards didn't review anything since he gave the spot back up. And what the hell is Webber doing on these starts? Dude still struggles to launch the car, you'd think he would have perfected it by now and correct whatever error he seems to do on starts. One of the best races of the season. Can't wait to see what happens in Austin.

That was the best "TOONED" episode yet! "It worked on Schumacher" :x

What a race. Finally Kimi and Lotus having their first win of the season. :smokin love the Iceman's radio comms. Just wanted to be left alone and race. Seb definitely had all the luck in the world right there. So many incidents, yet hardly any action was taken (save for Perez). Looked like they wanted to go home early. Fernando did a fantastic race as well. The man definitely did all that he could to earn that P2. So disappointed with Lewis' retirement. He had the race win in the bag. Not a good way to end his career at McLaren. :smh:

Seb and Kimi throwing expletives at the podium interview. :wow: David Coulthard doing some damage control.

The next race at COTA is very technical; looks like it'll favor the Red Bulls. :\

I like what Kimi said in the podium. the victory is not for him anymore but for the team and the sponsors and to keep on believing. at least Lotus have something they could bring next year.

Romain is the only lonely guy in the Lotus garage  why cant this guy avoid the stupidity :smh:

SinnerP always coming thru in the clutch :nthat: Mika Hakkinen :nthat:

I noticed that Force India did not have their usual Whyte & Mackay sponsorship on the car this weekend. I just found out that some GPs have restrictions on alcohol advertising :nerd:

Just like the Jordan below :smokin

If I remember correctly, F1 is more known for its ban on tobacco companies (only select races previously, until a total ban a few seasons ago), with Benson and Hedges being replaced with "BE ON EDGE" logo for Jordan F1's case. Other notable tobacco companies include Marlboro for Ferrari and McLaren (previously, West as well), Mild Seven for Renault, and Lucky Strike for B.A.R.. I know I'm missing a brand or two, so forgive me for that... but what I'm getting at was tobacco endorsement money really played a big factor in an F1 team's funding. Ferrari contiuned advertising Marlboro subliminally (e.g., the Barcode) even today (some would say that the Scuderia Ferrari logo is too similar with the Marlboro logo).

I believe Force India was forced to change its logo for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since there is a ban on alcoholic beverages in that region. In addition to that, I think that is why the have "rose water" instead of G.H. Mumm champagne during podium celebrations at Grands Prix in the Middle East.

Thanks for the quick history lesson, I really appreciate it :smokin

^ No, that was a loaded article from the BBC (as well as from other media sources).  They're all saying stuff like "Lewis Regrets Leaving McLaren", which is not what Whitmarsh said. He was asked if he felt that way, and naturally, he said yes! Of course he was gonna say yes... He needs to give the impression that McLaren's a great team and that anyone leaving them would = a regretful decision.  Instead, they're posting these "matter of fact" articles which makes it sound like Lewis said to Martin that he regretted leaving, which was simply not true.  It's one thing to ask him for his opinion, it's another thing to make it sound like fact... Sensationalized-journalism, it seems.

Also, Kimi made 500 of these for the guys at Lotus F1...
