F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

I don't normally beleive in conspiracy theories but that was deliberate in my book and it seems I'm not the only one who thinks that too.

This season is going to be good. Nico showing his hunger

I actually didn't think it was deliberate... he locked up going into Mirabeau, which is pretty highspeed (200k's or so).  That's way too risky, cuz if he misjudges that, he risks damaging his entire front-right corner.  Recall Schumi's accident  which was a lot slower and easier to manipulate.  If you were gonna do something like that on purpose there are plenty of other lower-risk spots to do so.

Anyway, like all incidents, this one's being investigated.  We'll see.

Looks like he engineered the lock up to me but then again he was carrying more speed on this lap than his pole lap.

He did reverse though which may get him penalised but I don't think anything will happen.

Lewis looked pissed.

Yes, if anything, it might be his reversing-back-onto-the-track which might get him into trouble.  It'd be a shame if it did.

That "shuffle" before the lock-up looks like pretty deliberate attempt to unsettle the car, though...

^ Yeah, I see what you're saying. But it could also be said that the shuffle was a result of the car losing control already.  Hard to tell, no doubt.

But anywho.

Great analysis by Anthony Davidson. Might be plausible because of Nico overdriving.

Did we post the same video? I can't see it on my phone. Out of town at the moment, and my phone's internet connection is crappier than usual.

Hopeully I make it back home in time for the race tonight.

EDIT: Now I see it. Damn.
Shows you how much detail drivers can catch.

I give Ant more credit cuz he's more used to these new cars and how they react.  Johnny's a bit more old-school, so it might be a bit different for him.

Lewis not doing himself any favors with these comments.  Kinda disappointing to see.  He compares it to Senna vs. Prost, but at the end of the race, they'd still shake hands.  Getting a bit petty now, especially since it has emerged that he broke an agreement at the Spanish GP.

So, it's now fair to say that Hamsters move really paid off?
That was pretty much justified after Race 1.

LOL at this race...

:smh:  @ Lewis there though... could have taken the highroad.

 I hear you. Today was the first race that I watched, cause I've been engulfed in the footy season.

I remember reading earlier when he first joined, he was saying Mercedes was throwing in major cash into their new car, and that the development would show soon. Some people doubted his choice (British media of course), so it's good to see him living up to his word.

The key has been Merc's role as an engine manufacturer and designing their car around the 2014-spec engine.  It's made a huge difference.  They make good engines and has been able to build a good package around it.

^ Indeed.  I'm no RBR fan, but am happy for Daniel... can't say I feel sorry for Seb.  He's had his share of incident-free races, while Webber had mech. problems.  Just balance, I suppose.

Yo Sinner Sinner where do you find these hi-res pics? :nerd:

Jenson Button has been complete trash so far. Kevin Magnussen has been solid so far with the mediocre car we have.

Anytime finger boy does not finish a race, my day has been made

Lewis Hamilton -
"We've sat down and cleared whatever air was needed to be cleared. We've been through the data and seen what needed to be seen - and I wish you guys could see it. Otherwise, we're good."

Yea, Lewis thinks he parked it

As for the Engine mode in Spain:

Q: (Oana Popoiu - F1 Zone) I have a question for Lewis. Niki Lauda said that in Barcelona you used an engine mode you were told not to and you had to apologise to Nico for that. Do you think that that mode would have helped you win the race today?

LH: No… today we were using all the modes. In the last race it was a mode that didn’t really affect the outcome of the race. We were told that we had to stay in a certain mode. Nico did it in Bahrain and I did it in Barcelona. In this race we stuck to the strategies we had to stick.

NR: I don’t know what Niki is referring to but it’s completely normal that we switch modes together you know, we always do that in the races. It’s nothing unusual.

As well as F1Fanatic, Motorsport.com also has great pics.

Kevin - Not really.  Other than the Oz GP where he came in 2nd (after RIC was DQ'd) & JB 3rd, he's been finishing behind JB in every race.  Granted, JB hasn't been spectacular, but the car is just not working right now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... everyone has bad-luck in F1.  I'm not wishing it upon Seb, but it's just his turn now.  These things happen to every driver.
