The Love era of Hip Hop >>>>> The Golden Age

This "era" business really chafes some of you guys, for whatever reason.
Whether you wanna call it the "love era" or whatever you think the "real love era" is you knew what
he was getting at by the examples given in the orignal post. Like someone mentioned earlier, some of y'all are looking at things too literally.
Everybody here is always so ready to categorize and quantify things. If era and > weren't in the title there probably wouldn't be a problem.
I might be older than a majority of the regulars in this section, save for a few, so I can say that i've experienced a great deal of the
different facets of hip hop first hand, and I can appreciate that. It's cool to reminisce on certain things, but constantly lamenting for the past,
and trying to put a < > between things is tiresome and pointless. Especially in something as subjective and personal as music.

^^^Pretty much. Everybody knows (or should know) that this was literally the "Love Era", it's just purely
for nostalgic purposes. Only a couple of the tracks posted I actually seeked out myself during that time,
and for the rest, I never changed the station when they came on, even Fat Joe's "What's Luv", and that's
coming from somebody who can't stand Fat Joe.

- this thread itself contradicts your statement when you look at the span of music in it. you've got videos from the early 90's up to the mid 2000's. so when exactly is this era you speak of again? stop embarrasing the art. clowns like you are the prime example of where it all went wrong......

....'constantly lamenting for the past' has NOTHING to do with the point. its more about when you come....come correct. calling this bs the 'love era' is just as bad as these dipset clowns calling the prime of dipset 'the golden era' just because they feel like it. its disgraceful to the real golden era.

Exactly. Wayne, Game and T.I. were the hottest rappers that year in 2004 and they weren't on that at all back then. That's when hood/trap rap got big then we had Gucci, Jeezy and Rick Ross blow up a year or so later along with Houston blowing up with Mike Jones, Slim Thug, Paul Wall and Chamillionaire. Then we had the Chicken Noodle Soup Era where every terrible song that had a dance to it blew up. Then it was the Hip Hop Is Dead Era where we thought every underground NYC rapper was going to save hip-hop. Then the fake Rock & Roll Ed Hardy Era came through when We Fly High came out and dudes were rockin studded belt buckles and skulls all over, and whoever that group was came out with Party Like A Rockstar. Then the Autotune Era when T-Pain blew up and was on every single person's hook, and Wayne and Kanye started using it. Then Jay-Z came out with Death of Autotune and ended that. Then it was kinda the Young Money Era. Then The Weed Era. Now we're in The Tumblr Era.

Great post...but what exactly is the TUMBLR era?
Additionally, yall are wilding cause I remember when these songs were hot EVERYONE was talking crap saying they hated the music and missed the past.

Just goes to prove that rap fans always hate the present and love the "past"

Always hating on whos hot and longing for the past. Thats why I dont even hate the songs I enjoy right now...cause bet, in 5 years, yall gonna say how much Wale, Kanye, Drake and Ross etc was killing it.

Still you knew what was going one, and the J-Lo stuff I posted absolutely fits into that, whether or not you want to accept it.

The moment folks see a greater than sign, dudes get all up in arms, well then "come correct" with a thread

Yeah I don't get that definition. Only Tumblr acts are Lil B & Kreayshawn.
IMO I would call this era the Alternative. Look at Cudi, Drake, T. London., Das Rascist, Wiz, Lil B. Then look at the albums from heavyweights (808s, Blueprint 3, MBDTF, WTT, Last Train to Paris). Got acts like Wale doing songs with Lady Gaga,, etc. None of these sound like traditional rap albums. The crooning and singing has elevated, the genres are getting blurred, the production is more electric and influenced from more than soul beats.

Nice try champ, but you failed at your attempt to get me.  Some of the videos and music being posted in this thread are great but some of it is garbage.  That's why I quoted what I quoted because that JLo song as well as a few others in here are/were garbage.

Beat me to it.  Was coming in here w/ that exact quote ready to paste.

You failed as well champ.

"Killing it" and something actually being/sounding good are two different things though, even if I am a Kanye and Ross fan. Like I can
admit Chingy was killing it back in 03/04, but dude was still garbage.

And Buc'em had some good points in his posts, though you can lump the last 3 "eras" he mentioned all as 1.

There was more garbage than there was great music though.  Again nice try, but better luck next time.

Edit--

For example, all of those Ja Rule and Fat Joe songs were garbage, complete garbage.  The beginning of the end is a very true statement.

my bad on that post, I actually meant to say "this WASN'T literally the Love Era".

Nice try champ, but you failed at your attempt to get me.
Nobody's trying to "get at you".

When you contradict yourself in that manner, expect to get exposed.  There's no explaining yourself out of that one.  Again nice try, but better luck next time.

There's no contradiction, there's some great music that was being posted in this thead, unfortunately there's alot of bad/really bad music that's been posted as well.  You and your buddy would have been better off just asking me a direct question instead of trying to piece something together like a bunch of low budget detectives trying to crack a case.  So again I say to you and partner, better luck next time.

You take yourself way to seriously DK.

No one is actually calling this era the best or anything, just posting for nostalgia.  And if you don't like those J.Lo tracks, I'll assume you prefer dancing with men over women.
