Probably not many folks here that follow the sixers these days or care, but in case you do and didn't know ......

PORTLAND, Ore. -- In an effort to create more salary cap space, the 76ers traded Kyle Korver today to the Utah Jazz for Gordan Giricek and a first round draftpick.
Giricek, who is making $4 million this season has an expiring contract.
Korver, who is earning nearly $4.4 million this year, has $15.4 million owed to him in the next three years after this one.
Like Korver, Giricek is known as a perimeter shooter. This season he has had scant playing time and is averaging 4.3 points per game.
Korver, who has had an up and down season, has is averaging 10 points.
Ironically, the Sixers and will meet the Jazz Wednesday in Utah.

wow aren't Philly fans happy to see King gone? There is no way he would ever have the smarts to make a trade like this.
 
Makes sense for both teams.

Korver will help the Jazz. Boozer is the new Malone, Williams is the new Stockton and Korver will be the new Hornacek.

Philly is rebuilding so it adds cap room with a expiring contract and a 1st round pick.
 
Damn... what do the Sixers get out of this other than a late-first round pick?

EDIT: Reading is fundamental... Cap relief.
 
Y'all really think he wasn't worth a first-rounder? I was under the impression that he was doing a solid job in Philly.

The empty spot on the bench will play better defense than KK did.

He's been alright, but he needs to be shooting at least 12 times a game. When you have Iguodala, Miller, Williams, and Green on your team,that doesn't happen often.

Glad queericek is gone. Dude is terrible. Has this really happenedthough? It's not on the Jazz website.
 
Good for both teams. It really doesn't matter how high the pick is. They can always use it to add depth or even move up a couple of slots to grab a guythey REALLY want. If they land a Top 7 or so pick, they should set themselves up very nicely for a late first rounder to be an extra guy they can take a chanceon.; Thad is still very young and should be very good. They need to sign Iggy. If they can get rid of Andre and maybe scoop up another first and a decent pointor big, they should be right where they need to be in their rebuilding mode.

Utah just gets deeper. Hopefully he won't take any minutes from Brewer because he has been a decent surprise for my fantasy team.
