OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

just heard new track ... :smh: sounds like **** . I **** with Kanye heavy but he's losing me with trash like this

Nike is already so large comparing QoQ or YoY % growth doesn't really tell the true story. Nike's growth at their size has actually been pretty remarkable

I see where Kanye is coming from, but didn't Money Mike cash a $90-100M check from Nike for annual Jordan Brand Sales? Whats Adidas cutting Kanye again? :nerd:

Yeezy's are cool but not so much at their retail price let alone resell :x

New Kanye was appreciated, laughed at what he was saying but not feeling the new track honestly

800
Song sucks but the pics are amusing

That doesn't mean they move. That chart means people buy them to resell, because that's what Campless looks at. If you're in the sneaker game, why wouldn't you want a pair? You can use a pair to buy three or four other pairs.

A Yeezy release might be 30 or 40,000.

A Jordan release might be 300,000 or 400,000. That's for one release. Not the two or three other general release retros that month or the other limited/QS they might put out that month. Those ugly *** team Jordans move 10 or 20. A alternate 89 release might be sitting, but they probably still sold 100,000+ that weekend.

Your argument was that a regular GR retro moved more than all Yeezy releases combined, I provided proof that a regular Yeezy does better than a standard retro release.

Yeezy and Jordan both dropped a shoe on the same day, one of those shoes is still on the shelves. I believe that is Kanyes argument at the end of the day.

It took MJ a few years to really start doing numbers.  Do you think Kanye deserves more credit considering the fact that rappers don't typically sell sneakers?

How did you provide evidence that a regular Yeezy does better than a standard retro release?

One sneaker releases in hundreds of thousands. The other released in tens of thousands.

If you can't see the big difference in that, I'm really questioning the job your teachers did.

Which release made Nike more money, the Just Don or Aqua 8? Go follow MattOS on Twtter to learn some #Facts.

Not that it matters but the grammar OCD in me irks when Ye says 'gave lebron a billi NOT TO run away'...instead of 'gave lebron a billi TO NOT run away'

Still waiting for Wolves

I bet we will get his feature on Post Malone's Fade in March, before Swish is anywhere close to a release

It didn't. When the first Air Jordan came out it sold more than Nike ever expected and they had to keep making more and more of the black and reds because the demand was so high.

Kanye is over rated trash
Just like his adidas version of roshes
I also think roshes are trash
He ain't had a good album in YEARS
He needs rhymefest back writing his bars
Like is it like a joke when people say he's the best like the lil b thing
Or are people really serious

I really can't remember who said it first but they gave me the exact word I was looking for to describe Kanye's new music. It's soulless and I've accepted the fact we will never have College Dropout Kanye back. I understand some people like it but I just can't relate to it, I don't own a lambo, Im not married to a Kardashian, I don't go to Paris to view that weird **** they call art. When Kanye's struggle left so did his ability to rap, I still think hes a gifted producer though but as an artist. I'll pass.

Kanye said it himself, he can not make another college dropout, he has evolved as an artist... When I start wanting the 'old kanye' back, I just turn on CD or LR and hit play

... new **** aint better than that anyway ..

The Real Facts Behind Kanye West’s Diss Song to Nike

Kanye West once again released a track on New Year’s Eve and once again the rapper used the occasion to let the world know his opinion on several hot topics. Kanye used the track “FACTS” specifically to once again underline his opinion on Nike, the sportswear brand that started to work with him on sneakers, before he left to work with adidas Originals in 2015. For adidas it has been a massive year, dominating the fashion sneaker collaboration market, releasing many much talked about Kanye West adidas YEEZY Boost items, as well as pushing ahead with innovations such as the Ultra Boost and classics such as the Superstar and Stan Smith.

Here below we now take a closer look at some of West’s statements in the song and see how they compare to reality.

1) adidas Yeezy line has “jumped over the Jumpman”

Without any doubt his YEEZY line had a lot of hype in 2015, sold out of all footwear in no time and had people line-up across the globe. At the same time Jordan Brand apparently started having issues selling out some of its Retro releases towards the end of the year. At the same time Jordan Brand of course had a lot more releases than YEEZY and is a Billion Dollar brand.

2) “If Nike ain’t had Drizzy man they would have nothing. If Nike ain’t have Don C. they would have nothing.”

Kanye goes on saying that only Drake and Don C. saved them with their sneaker collaborations. While those were among the most hyped Jordan brand releases of the year, one has to keep in mind that Nike has had its biggest year ever, announcing plans to reach $50 Billion in revenue by 2020, having hit $7.7 Billion in revenue in the last quarter already. Also Nike’s market cap of over $86 Billion is just above five times the market cap of adidas, who fell behind Sketchers in the US for biggest sportswear brands.

3) “I ain’t drop an album but the shoes went platinum.”

West mentions selling over a million shoes in 2015, which is impressive, but certainly nothing that will impress Nike.

4) “Tell adidas that we need a million in production. I done told y’all all I needed was the infrastructure.”

The rapper believes he could be selling a lot more sneakers, which is probably true, but the high resell prices would probably drop quickly if that was the case.

5) “James Harden, Swaggy P running up the budget.”

The $200 million deal with James Harden was certainly one of the biggest announcements of the year and it is likely to heavily impact the adidas Basketball business. But basketball is still Nike’s home turf. Having LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving, Kobe Bryant and many other heavy hitters under contract, and with adidas not really having been able to push back with its D Rose line, it currently looks like adidas has to fight hard to keep Under Armour away. The brand has seen a 754 percent increase in basketball sneaker sales, thanks to Stephen Curry in 2015.

As much of an impact as Kanye West and adidas had this past year, the statements from his new song should obviously be taken lightly. By now we are all used to hear bold, many times over the top, statements of the rapper. Nevertheless Nike, as strong as they are at the moment, especially financially, has to keep an eye on adidas. The brand might not be there yet financially, but in terms of product it has made huge steps in 2015 and layed the groundwork for another strong year 2016 with its new NMD.

That's real and makes perfect sense. I think the same when I hear his old stuff. I just think he doesn't care anymore but now that I think about it it's more like what you said ...he's at a different stage in his life than he was during the come up

Can't rap about that same thing over and over, there's gotta be growth and change. Luckily for Ye he's built up a fan base that, similar to Drake or Bey, whatever he touches becomes a success.
