My contemporary art class changed my life. Changed the kind of designer that I am today. I had the best teacher who gave a @!+!.

Isn't it a short performance, which involves the audience more then happenings? (not sure though.)
Luckily my art teacher, didn't expect us to learn exact dates in most cases, just the decade or era. Man I loved art classes, but the problem always occurred, when I did research I ended up discovering more and more artists and movements, thus resulting in a million usually wikipedia pages....

If you guys like Alyssa Monks paintings, you'll love Lee Price.

Some of her works deal with the nude figure. I just got banned for three days for posting an image with a swear word (even though it wasn't used in a derogatory or insulting manner.) I'm not trying to push it or instigate but, seriously, if I get banned for posting nudity in an artistic context, it'll probably be a good indicator that I've outgrown this community. Hopefully, if a mod sees this, he or she will realize that there is a historic depiction of the nude figure in art and that it has to be viewed in the context of art.

Lee Price's paintings seem to deal with how the artist reconciles the female figure with food consumption, especially American food consumption. There is a depiction of snack foods, fast foods, over-eating, and all in the context of being a woman in contemporary America.

Zevs was at our university last week he presented his works, amazing stuff I've liked him for a bit now. Cool guy.
 
Ken Price died this morning.
My mentor was with Billy Al Benston when it happened and they all met at his place for 30 minutes of silence.
I'm glad that Ken was able to say his goodbyes before he passes though.
 
Small update... one of my paintings was accepted into the student exhibition. Pretty stoked on that. This is my first time showing.

I'm working on some new work. Have a new painting I just put down an underlayer for. I'm also working on my first ever sculpture. Really, really different working three-dimensionally.

I'm going to share some of my friends' works. I like to think that my friends who do art are some of the more talented individuals in the painting discipline at my school. I love how we all paint the figure but in uniquely different ways. I'm really trying to see if I can organize a show for us somewhere in San Diego (if we can't manage to lock up a gallery at school.)

Here's something I'm presently working on in my advanced painting class...it's 3rd of the way done; it simultaneously doubles as a self portrait and a master re-interpretation and will be be a painting x sculptural piece when I am done with it.

Roughly 40 (maybe a lil less than that) x 30
