Seattle SuperSonics Thread

why is this dude saying multiple things though
roll.gif
dude goes back and forth with if we deserve a team or not.
either way hate the dude. im sure you could find reasons hansen is a dirtbag if you wanted to and that fine brah
Nope, I don't see Hansen as a dirtbag whatsoever.

That dude is a champion for a city, doing what pretty much every Sonics fan wishes they could and spearheading the way for bringing back basketball to the Emerald City.

How could I possible hate on that?

I guess I could be kinda salty with him dealing with the Maloofs when the Kings 'weren't for sale' but, again he's just doing what he thought is best for Seattle.

No hate here.

Hansen does seem like genuinely good guy. I feel bad the he wasted 100m.

Waste? No, no, no. He's shown the league he's serious about spending whatever it takes to secure a team. And he's going to throw more money around than anyone else.

On the land? Not at all. Seattle may not have a team right now, but it's zoned for an arena and the land will only appreciate from here. If he didn't buy it now, he'd be paying more later on when the Sonics do come back to Seattle.

You guys think we have any chance of getting an expansion any time soon?  Any recent positive indicators?

Damn it really was Kings or bust for yall? Even given the 5 year window Hansen has?

It is watered down.  But I'd still appreciate having the Sonics to root for.

Same here.

League been watered down anyways. I dont see adding a team to Seattle really making the situation substantially worse (from a talent standpoint)

He spent $70 million on land. Land ain't nothing
Seattle is getting a team within a few years. I think St. Louis or Kansas City gets one also. Memphis and New Orleans will be moved to the east.

NBA isn't watered down due to number of teams. It's watered down because a lot of one and done players aren't panning out, whether it be unrealized potential, injuries, or whatever. Look at past legends, they all went to college and learned how to play correctly under great coaches. Go to school, learn, then go to the NBA.

To the Sonics Faithful Chris Hansen

While we are disappointed with the relocation committee’s recommendation, we just wanted to let you all know that we remain fully committed to seeing this transaction through. As you are all well aware, we have a binding transaction to purchase the Kings for what would be a record price for an NBA franchise, have one of the best ownership groups ever assembled to purchase a professional sports team in the US, have clearly demonstrated that we have a much more solid Arena plan, have offered a much higher price than the yet to be finalized Sacramento Group, and have placed all of the funds to close the transaction into escrow. As such, we plan to unequivocally state our case for both relocation and our plan to move forward with the transaction to the league and owners at the upcoming Board of Governor’s Meeting in Mid-May.

When we started this process everyone thought it was impossible. While this represents yet another obstacle to achieving our goal, I just wanted to reassure all of you that we have numerous options at our disposal and have absolutely no plans to give up. Impossible is nothing but a state of mind.

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ―Muhammad Ali
