Just because they are "skinny" doesnt mean it should be leggings on you.
Sized up it would look A LOT better.

I was going to order this wash instead because I wanted a slightly darker grey, but I was worried the dark area near the bottom would look funny with regular sneakers on.. Any thoughts?

Maybe in the waist, but the thighs will still be that of a true size 28. It's almost like you need to find a pair with appropriate thigh measurements and take the waist in.

At the end of the day, it depends on the designer. If a size 30 jeans has a leg opening that is 5.5"-6" and calves is 7.5" wide with stretch and the waist is a 33", then the designer intended them to be skin tight. It's really as simple as that. Sizing up wouldn't be an option because then you're waist would be in the 35". This is typical Balmain sizing for the most part, Zara just happens to magnify that and go an extra step to the extreme.
Kevine doesn't even have full leather pants, just jeans with leather accent and they do no fit that slim. There is also a reason why that dude with the Zara pleathers are returning them so he isn't wearing them like that.

Im usually size 30-31 with other brands, I can fit sz29-30 in Balmain. I think the leg opening on the light blue pair are 17.5 cm. I got the light blue pair from an italian seller and the other 2 from Ssense.
I personally go a size down on them.

I've only had high end leather jackets..
but has anyone ever tried on those TOPMAN BIKER JACKETS? I dont have one here in Ottawa but kinda intriguing. The fit looks pretty decent on those one direction kids..
