Introducing the Microsoft Surface

Wait... $499 for a WINDOWS tablet????

1000

 dudes don't want to pay for ANYTHING. Damn

I'm interested in seeing how this thing works out. I'm definitely not buying one because I see no need in buying a tablet that doubles as a laptop, considering how I just bought a MBP earlier this summer.

But the concept looks dope. And my cousin has been rambling about this thing. So I want to see if it will live up to his hype.

It'd be nice to have one as a student. It is much smaller than my laptop and has touch-screen capability with digital ink pen option; it'd be good for taking notes for all sorts of things.

For educational purposes, it looks pretty solid, but I don't think it'd sway iPad users away for a different multimedia device.

Spent some time with the machine and i really enjoyed it, part was that i enjoyed windows 8 also. Right now as it stands with few apps in the store theres not much but as soon as major programs and apps get rewritten for arm and windows rt things will be good. The intel pro surface will be the great device although, there are a couple tablets running on intel processors albiet with atom processors a few are out or soon will be with i series processors. When the surface pro releases im looking forward to replacing my ipad with it and also get rid of my macbook as ill have everything i meet and a full os and intel processor in a tablet.

I think Sony and ASUS might do RT better than Microsoft.

That Pro should be something special though.

I'm hoping that Nokia has a convertible in the works too.

a levono executive was talking crap about a $300 rt tablet two months ago but as of right now that doesn't seem likely. These manufacturers don't even seem to want to go below $500 :smh:

lol folks be thinking cheap = sales not the case, dudes want their piece of the pie. The transformer joints look cool, but nah I`m good with my apple products.

the potential is mind blowing. Seems like great hardware, apps/programs yet to be seen...but this could potentially be a game changer.

this is the future of computing, you see how Apple is trying to unify iOS and OSX, and how light and thin Macs are getting, this is the same thing, Glad to see MS finally doing some cool stuff, its just sad they did it so late, that they are reeeeeeally going to be playing catch up.

Looked at all the options and specs that these companies are offering for Windows 8 and it looks like the Lenovo Yoga 13 is the best ultrabook/tablet I've seen so far under $1000.  Forget the Surface Pro, Macbook Air, and iPad. I'm coppin this.
