News media excoriating a television show that often harshly critiques current news organizations? Who would have thought? I appreciated many of the critiques I read (in The New Republic, Slate, and The New Yorker among others) but those reviewers fundamentally failed at respecting one of the tenets of great criticism: review what the work tried to be, not what it should be. These journalists want the show to paint them as victims. But Sorkin won't because delineating many of the harsh economic realities of the news business is mundane. Also, much of it is self-inflicted. Sorkin is an intellectual idealist and what he does makes some damn good television. This isn't a documentary series, after all. I bet many in the Beltway similarly criticized TWW.

I liked it. Sorkin had me at Northwestern.

Fully agree with this, but unlike you I really enjoyed the second episode. To start I had that Pilot up there with the Lost pilot (not better, just up there) because of the speech at Northwestern alone... Now what it really showed how EASY it would be to blow this whole experiment. Showed how deep Will and Mackenzi's relationship got and how bad it went. Will's anger and passion is

. They dynamic within the floor/team. The quick arguments about Obama... "I miss my blackberry" had me

didn't catch the 2nd ep due to no power out her in MD. I was just curious after seeing this show would it have been weird to see in Dumber and Dumber 2 if it was still on?

The second episode was excellent. I wasn't bored for a second. Felt less disjointed than the pilot. And then I go to the which is a place I usually trust, I still see it get bashed and given a C.

I don't understand how you can watch that and think it is C television. I'm just surprised this show keeps getting crapped on. It's not perfect but it's getting really damn good. It really must be that media members are offended and want to look like victims as someone said earlier in this thread

Alison Pill and John Gallagher Jr. were superb in this episode, another solid job.

Season 2 already ordered by HBO

Really like this show so far. Has a lot of potential in my eyes to be one that we remember if done right.

The second episode was good but damn it was a drop off from the first episode.

Been great so far, can't wait for the plot to thicken with the relationships between both couples.

Finally watched the first two episodes.

Great show.

News Night 2.0 was straight comedy.

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Show is great. I'm loving it so far. Its something about a fictional show using real world events and stuff. I'm loving all the characters except Don but I'm not supposed to like him. Can't wait for Episode 3.

Guess I'm in the minority but so far this show has sucked. I hate Emily Mortimer's character through 3 eps. Allison Pill has a few moments here and there but mostly hate. My dude Anwar from Skins is some random super genius blogger trying to get Bigfoot stories to air. |I

Been reading a lot of negative things about this show but that hasn't kept me from tuning in since Ep 1.

I love it and will continue to watch despite all the negativity.

Glad to see it's getting some love from a few of you on NT and glad it has been renewed for a second season.

HBO does not disappoint. :pimp:
