Why do dudes feel like they need to talk crap on the court?

We had to stop the game we were laughing so hard.

Michael Jordan was ripped dudes with his trash talk during games... but i do it out of habit.....

i'm usually a quiet player, but when I get going I'll start talkin a lil sumthin sumthin. For example I was at AAU Basketball try-outs and the coachwanted the defense in a 2-3 zone and everytime I got the ball I hit a 3 (6 times in a row I might add) After I hit the fourth one my ego took over andeverytime I got down court I set up for an open 3 and knocked it down. On the sixth one I shot it right in dude's face and faded away and when it went in Istarted talkin mad S#*%. I was saying stuff like"Sombody hold him!!!"

I'll probably never play any of you, so I don't mind saying this.

But... I'm not going to lie, trash talking gets at me.

I wish Icould just ignore it, but I can't.

I don't talk trash... at all. I really try to conduct myself like David Robinson and Barry Sanders, and even though I'm not always as composed/calm asthey were, I really try. I'm just quiet, like, "I'm here to play, not talk." You know, just say the stuff you have to say, and that's it."Outlet, outlet... back door... mine, mine, mine, I got ball... trailer, trailer," but that's it. None of this, "Hit me, hit me... *get theball*... *hit the shot*... yeeeeah, that was in your eye, son!

I gotplenty more, baby."

If you really knew me, you'd know how ridiculous it is that I even typed that. That's nowhere close to me.

But talking trash TO me? Well, I can't control that; it is part of the game. And I wish I could ignore it, but itgets me.

I can shoot. I'm not trying to gas myself like I should be in a D-1 school or anything, but trust: I can shoot. But if I show up at a park for the firsttime, where no one knows me, and I miss my first 2 or 3 shots, and I hear, "Man, this dude is terrible. Who the hell brought him?", I may as wellpack it up and head home, because the rest of the day will consist of me playing to prove them wrong instead of just playing to play; forcing it. I'd neveractually say anything, like, "Man, don't kid yourself." But I would be trying to silently answer their criticism.

And that will usually result in taking stupid shots, making stupid passes, youknow.

I think it just comes from the fact that I've never actually played organized sports or been in any organizedanything (band, the freaking chess club... anything). I think those things teach you how to perform through doubts; err, they can help you learn how to performthrough doubts.

You know?

I just hate the dudes that swear that they're Rick Pitino when y'all are on the same team and he's terrible. Clapping and telling people what to dowhen he has no clue on how to shoot a damn jumper. Reminds me of that one starter commercial.

I'm with you with the head-case thing ska.. if i'm playing with dudes i don't know that are pretty good and i start off missing some shots,it'll affect me the rest of the day. I know i can shoot, and i know i can play a pretty solid overall game.. But i'm all about confidence.. wheni'm feeling good, i'm money.. when i'm feeling bad, i'm trash.

Trash talking doesn't really affect me either way - but the other part is all me.

I can't play without talkin CRAP... where Im from it's like 10 different Narratives goin on at the same time. But of course it's about who can talkthe most crap AND back it up while talkin it.

To me it's funny if someone talks at me, cause I know I can take it and give it back. The fun part is seein the other person unravel thinkin they have thebig mouth peice game.

I do like a little chatter but it does get annoying when some people never shut up and play. The only time I turn it up is to see if I can get a guy to notplay to his strengths and end up hurting his team in the process.

If my man is a really good passer and will do more damage setting up his teammates, I might say how he can't score on me and make him lose focus of what hedoes best, facilitating for his teammates. It's the same thing with a very good slasher or post player who isn't that good of a shooter, tell him thathe's out of his range when ever he gets the ball. Basically, you want to goad your man into trying to prove you wrong and distract him from doing what everhe does best for his team.

man today there was a dude that DID NOT SHUT UP EVER!! he was calling all sorts of fouls and cussing out dudes when they thought he was wrong.
smh.gif
dude fouledme on a drive and proceeded to whine about it and start cussing and screaming that he was just standing straight up. then he said i pushed my arms into him andcould have "taken his head off" if anyone would have saw that they would have just laughed at the guy for hours. he just went on and on about it
smh.gif
idont get how people can raise their kids to act like that. he was a grown man too, like what in your life has made you need to act like that in a PICKUP GAME?!like why do you need to do that when its just suppose to be a fun game?

this was the same guy that was getting blown out one game so he started crying about how they had more so they just started the game over
