NBA Super Stars that could be on the move ESPN Insider UPDATE VC for JO RUMOR pg3

You can say that Vince lacks heart or toughness, but fact of the matter is, he gets buckets. He has been doing it (sans when he quit on T.dot) since day 1 in the NBA.

Than how come he has destroyed him all year long? And last time we played them he dropped 35 and a game winning 3 and before that he had 30 and a gamewinning 3 right in Vince's face.

For all yalls saying he cant develop also, hes almost there already and since when is 26 years old the end of your prime? It is barely starting

Since when is Jamal 26? He's about to turn 28 in 2 months... Jamal is 28 and has been in the league 8 or 9 years. There's not much, ifany, growth and improvement to be made... Yall are SERIOUSLY trippin right now. This is the same guy yall wanted shipped outta New York ASAP last season.

i've always thought jamal crawford was a waste of time for the Knicks. his offensive skills are unquestionable, but he plays NO defense and he turns theball over way too much. he's a decent complementary player, not a #1 guy. however, VC would not be much of an upgrade IMO

crawford > vc right now, when you see carter on the floor you can tell he has no heart by his demeanor. dude is playing with jkidd and yet look at theirrecord. we nyers know this because we can watch YES and MSG. also as mentioned crawford has been playing the point guard role very well and being the highestscorer on the team, when jkidd was injured VC needed to run point and i think his job was to just get the ball up past half court. crawford is actually tryingto become a leader and is becoming a lot better at that role.

I don't get to see either Crawford or Carter play, but I know Vince has a reputation for playing and being soft which makes him a player you don't wanton a team with no leadership and a weak coach. Vince to Miami might make sense, but Vince to New York does not. He'd get eaten alive.

Discounting his lack of heart, that trade doesn't make sense contract-wise. Crawford's deal expires at the same time as Vince's (unless his teampicks up his option), but Crawford makes much less. Malik Rose's deal comes off the books after next season. Jerome James' the year after. I know thatNew York doesn't need to save money, but they need to keep these movable contracts to trade for players that will actually make a difference.

Isiah was right on this one.

Larry Hughes? That would only make sense if Hughes' deal were expiring this season and New York's other bad contracts were expiring or close toexpiring. Hughes is horrible. A trade of Hughes and Simmons (or Newble's expiring deal) for Crawford and James would make the Knicks worse, but save themmoney. This trade would only make sense if the Knicks could turn around and trade Hughes with another of their bad contracts for more expiring deals and youngplayers.

Isiah was right on this one too.

Moving Nate and Balkman for Artest is 50/50. Thomas must believe that Artest can't help that team because it's better to trade for him and re-sign himthan use their mid-level exception on him. They don't need Nate because they're likely to get a top flight guard during the next draft. Balkman mightbe a nice player to have on a good team, but that obviously isn't the Knicks. If the Knicks actually want Artest, it's better to have Artest + whomeverthey sign with their mid-level exception than Artest + Nate + Balkman. (Looks up the Knicks last two mid-level signings- Jared Jeffries, Jerome James). Thenagain...

Cut it out kid, you're unrealistic. You're biased and delusional...I watch both teams as well, and as the Nets are horrid a lot of the time, theKnicks are just pathetic period.

I really don't understand what you're basing your talk off of, Jamal has never once in his career averaged 20ppg, Vince is having a bad season andis doing 21. Vince is having a bad year and his team is still in the playoff race, Jamal is having his best individual year, and his team is one of the worstin the NBA. Jamal has never seen the playoffs, Jamal wont see the playoffs this year where as Vince will, Jamal hasn't been an all star, Vince has been anall star 8 times.

Bottom line is, Vince has better stats, his team has more wins, and he is shooting better than Jamal. It really makes 0 sense what you're saying. JamalCrawford...leader? Yeah Willis Reed, Bernand King, Walt Frazier, Patrick Ewing will all be happy to know that Knicks franchise is in the hand's of JamalCrawford. This franchise is a joke, no one takes you guys serious.

No.

You can tell he has no heart? Based on what? Examples? I don't see how people always bring this up into a discussion. What examples can you actuallyprovide from this season to back up that response? Or are you saying it just because you hear/see everyone saying that about Carter?

You NY'ers know?

You can't base anything off watching a couple games.

Also, "look at the Nets record" ? Thats all Vince's fault?

Vince looks good on a stat sheet. He's a stat #@#$#. He settles for jumpers & never puts his head down & draws fouls or generates buckets when theteam needs it from him. Superstars manufacture points when they are not there. Vince settles.
With that said, we did get Vince for almost nothing, so I can't be that mad. But if we can move him for someone with more heart & somewhat comparableskills, do it.

Dude has never legitimately averaged, more points, rebounds, orassists in his career than carter. VC is literally better at every aspect of the game of basketball.

Since when is Jamal 26? He's about to turn 28 in 2 months... Jamal is 28 and has been in the league 8 or 9 years. There's not much, if any, growth and improvement to be made... Yall are SERIOUSLY trippin right now. This is the same guy yall wanted shipped outta New York ASAP last season.

Who wanted him out? There were a lot of players people wanted out (actually there were high expectations so it was relly only dudes like Francis and Jamesand for me Curry as well) but no one wanted Jamal out. And even if they did nobody can argue the strides he made this season. You cant compare VC and Jamalcaeer-wise but right now Jamal is on a whole nother level than VC. Heart wise, leadership wise, and skill wise. Sure VC is scoring more but his role is only toscore and he has one of the most unselfish pgs of all time next to him. the guy that made trash players like Mikki Moore look like elite centers. 21 ppg withKidd is nada. Jamal on the other hand has been averaging over 25 this month, over 30 on the win streak and near 6 assists (i think) as well, he will probablyget player of the week this year and he plays with heart. VC relies on a crappy outside shot (not nearly as wet as Crawfords) but mal takes it inside as welland does it success with his razzle-dazzle moves and finishes and his beautiful floater.

If anyone would watch these 2 reccently (which is really only the Knicks fans and the swamprats) there is no argument to be made. and btw Mal has not justbeen playing nice he has elevated his whole game. Its not even close Mal is far better than VC right now. As that Laker fan was saying Isiah made the rightmove on VC and Hughes both would be horrible (but i would honestly even rather Hughes, he is less $ and plays D) But Jamal makes less than both of them and isbetter than both of them... by far. And he adds much needed team chemistry. Crawford is the only guy keeping this team from COMPLETELY falling apart. Jamal isbetter than VC... by far. The Artest trade is iffy i agree. i love Artest and would do anything to get him (like we should have like 10x) but trading Nateright now would be questionable he has been our 2nd best player, he is young, toguh, sick athletic, nice J, feisty on D, and for the first time in his careerplaying the point efficiently. But if we can get a top 3 pick, and sign Artest to MLE this summer, watch out east

VC relies on a crappy outside shot (not nearly as wet as Crawfords) but mal takes it inside as well and does it success with his razzle-dazzle moves and finishes and his beautiful floater.

The fact that you continue to debate that Crawford is some kind of big time jump shooter is absolutely mind-boggling. Vince is'terrible' from outside, but he's shooting better from 3 this year, and for his career as a whole, but you're right, it ain't evencomparable.
roll.gif
Vince is on the downside of his career, and still putting up better numbers ACROSS THE BOARD than Jamal is in his prime.
But if we can get a top 3 pick, and sign Artest to MLE this summer, watch out east

Watch out! The Knicks will jump from NBA laughing stock to fringe playoff contenders.

I hope the kings don't let artest go he's a great defender, scorer, and rebounder. bibby is great too but if we can get 2 or 3 good players for him itdoesn't matter to me

i just looked up the stats, and only ONCE in his LIFE has Jamal Crawford put up better numbers than Vince Carter. that was his freshman year at Michigan vs VCs freshman year at UNC (and VC played in a tougher conference and got less PT). YES, i went back and found their high school stats, and even THEN VC owned Crawford. Crawford averaged 22-7, VC averaged 25-11 and was a 1st team McDonalds All-American.

i'm talking PPG, RPG, APG, and FG%.... Vince has been better than Crawford in EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF THE GAME since he came out the womb

check NBA career stats. Crawford has NEVER come close to VCs overall numbers EVER. he hasn't even averaged 20 PPG yet.

this argument is LAUGHABLE

Crawford's a very good player but the hate that Vince gets on here is ridiculous..... I can agree that this season Crawford has played better than VC, butwhen you are saying things like "VC is a bum", or "VC sucks" as if he is Kwame Brown or the Kandi Man, it's laughable
laugh.gif
..... As Isaid IMO Vince came into the league with the most talent..... dude could have been 10 times better than what he is today..

..... As I said IMO Vince came into the league with the most talent..... but he could have been 10 times better than what he is today..
granted, his "coast off my talent" #s are still good, but IMO these bolded statements are synonymous.

^ If you give him a killer instinct or superstar mentality along with a better work ethic, he'd be a top 5 player in the league...... You guys saw how goodhe was in Toronto, especially 2001, cause he had a guy like Oakley on his back to somewhat push him...... Now he doesn't have that.... VC is too "laidback" on the floor, too nice, too satisfied..... If he had Kobe's mentality, he'd be one of the best player's today...

Jermaine O'Neal remains a possibility for the Nets, but could cost them their own All-Star, Vince Carter. The Nets and Pacers, who discussed a multiplayer swap involving O'Neal in June, renewed talks recently, according to league sources familiar with the conversations. Bergen Record

The new proposal would send Carter, Marcus Williams and Jamaal Magloire to Indiana for O'Neal. But O'Neal has a bone bruise in his knee that will sideline him at least two weeks. Nothing is imminent, though, as O'Neal's health and $64 million salary through the 2009-10 season are real deterrents for the Nets. Bergen Record

O'Neal, 29, makes $19.7 million this season. The Nets would rather have Indiana take Collins (two years, $12.3 million) instead of Magloire (one year, $4 million) to alleviate the luxury-tax hit. But the Pacers don't want Collins. Bergen Record

JO talks have been going on for awhile. I don't want to see this trade go down.

I don't want to see one of the big 3 leave (especially Carter) considering I don't think any of them are the problem. In this case, you have to look atthe coach before the players. I don't like blaming the coaching staff, but in a case were you have this much talent, you have to. Don't trade away ahuge part of our core group of guys when a coaching change first can make a difference. We will be in the exact same position we are in now if we get JO &ship away VC. But to coat that, our future PG in Marcus will be gone.

These sources have also said though that the Nets managment is not looking to blow this team up & start over.

I want the Nets to hold onto Marcus Williams, that dude is amazing, and could be the future for the Nets if they just hold onto him.

I'd actually like to see it, but not see VC nor Marcus go. Send RJ and Antoine instead. Or instead of Antoine send next years 1st pick. Little bias thoughbecause VC is my favorite player.

Maybe even throw in a future first and give us Kareem Rush, we need a more consistent 3 point shooter.

I got a 4 team deal...a little out of the box thinking here but everybody gets something
