These are simple enough to be decent but damn I vowed to myself not to buy another all black shoe this year other than the Gucci slip-ons.

I must be on NT too much, but these damned Kanye LV's are starting to grow on me. The white ones RFX just posted aren't looking half bad to me anymore.Just not too unique for whatever astronomical price point they're going to have.

I dunno, I really ddin't even wanna speak on it, but after literally seeing 8 pages about these Kanye joints I just gotta say something
basically all the joints except the boat shoe joints and the pair just posted by RFX are just 100% trash and aren't even really worth going in to detailon.
First I like the LV/Kanye boat shoes, and I hate boat shoes. I like them because they put an interesting seemingly original spin on boat shoes. They literallyhave a White on White AF1 flair which I think is dope because who has eevr seen that before. maybe one of you can spend some extra time and google and try toprove that wrong, but in all seriousness the world has never seen someone REALLY freak out boat shoes in that way. The concept and follow through on thosework.
The last pair that will probably be the best selling and most popular because they actually slook like regular sneakers which can be worn regularly are justTRASH. Honestly the look like a pair of DC SHOES, literally. Like they just took a pair of DCs, I don't feel like findng the exact style, and made themmonotone so no one could say they are loud, removed the branding, and sewed on an LV tag. Like I was dumb cool with the assistant to the head of globalprojects at DC from like 2004-2007, and they Tried to give me those joints like 100 times and I was just like "no thanks" because they were justlame.
Its not like other designer shoes that are cool because they took an obviously classic sneaker and put their twist on it as an omage; instead it litrallytaking a shoe you thought no one would recognize and trying to front like you made something new and great. Maybe it wasn't intentional but even then, your"super amazing kanye creativeness" combined with the oh so wonderful LV "200 years of fashion heritage" still couldnt come up with anythingbetter then some straight up knock off DC SHOES? damn lil buddies
honestly if you took the LV patch off the tongue of them joints and sanded down the little logos they would have been gettin called "skips". if theyposted em o complex unbranded with the tag "hottest sneaker of 2009" we'd be reading 80 posts here %!!**+%% on comlpex.
bottom line you can't attribute none of that pretend snob logic people use for liking designer stuff to those shoes and not be lying.

Everyone is sleeping on the pair from the ConsTV video, much better than the one RFX showed. The ones RFX showed look like rod lavers to me, which I ain'tbig on. The one from the ConsTV video have a cleaner toe, and overall better/more unique design. When official pics of those joints drop I think people will behaving a change of heart.

I think your going a bit too harsh on them and that is coming from someone who does not like these set of shoes either. It's been filled with Kanye'sLV shoes for a couple of pages because that is pretty much what is going on right now. However, that is beside the point. Just to get it out of the way, Ithink originality is really not osmethign you could look for in a shoe anymore. Everything has practically been done and when it comes to casual shoes likethese, simplicity is key and the originality has to come from the little details, whether it's that little patch of suede or even the three LV logo on themidsole, it's those details that will carry these shoes and make them unique. Of course, depends on the demographic that it will be judged on will make itlook good or bad.
The boat shoes, I really do not like them and not really sure what is AF1-esque in them? Is it the thick midsole? When I first saw the boat shoes, it remindedme immediately thought of the Vans boat shoes "Low Pressure" or some Sperry Topsider. It is the typical boat shoes with a thicker midsole, the sameas the Vans and then he put tassles on the end of the laces which makes it drag longer and thent he huge cushion in the back just messed up the sole. With thatextra back detail, it turned the boad shoes, a seim-casula shoe to a casual sneaker.
The midtops, although simple, really had the biggest upside that it is simple. To be honest, take out the LV logo and the back cushion and I would think it issome Supra's. But again, it is the small details that make it look good. Kind of like the Gucci chucks, they add a wingtip and the monogram (subtlemonogram

still love the pairs posted above the most especially now that there are some clean pictures of em in black or white. still hate the heal tab tho.
again rfx hits the nail on the head, its the simple designs that catch my eye, too many bells and whistles that scream "look at me" on a piece ruinsit because the item becomes too busy.

It's not a specific brand it's a cut. They are tapered at the bottom. Most commonly on the "skinny" jean cut. But there are sumslim cuts that have the same taper. Ur best bet is Levi or Cheap Monday. U can also try sum more expensive brands like Nudie or ImperialOriginally Posted by arson09

I hear you, ut I just gotta disagree. If your little details are basically SHAMELESS BRANDING, as they are on those shoes, it shoes a LACK of creativity and interestingness. If those details were about the details and not the branding they wouldn't have been so oversized and shameless, or they would have been deails that were non-branding related.

AF1 qualities= OUTDATEDLY BULKY UPPER, SHINY WHITE LEATHER, BULKLY MIDSOLE, ATHLETIC INSPIRED HEEL PADDING.
The shoe literaly looks like a Sperry *#+@%* an AF1, and the shoe is ground breaking and interesting because of that. Even the tassles have a quality that looks like how the AF1s do when you tie em with the sloppy boes. THATS AMAZING. enh the gucci chucks are another one, its like that exact ziper leather chuck has been done before. they just thrw on a monogram bcause they knew it would sell because label mongers will fnd a way to force that msage subtle or not. Those style kicks have been out for DUMBlong with no change minus the mogram
But liek I said, it willr eally depend on the person. If I really had to pick one from all I've seen, I'd pick the mid-tops or the one with the straps if it came in a black colorway. Of course we will pay for the name itself, i think that is no secret especially in this thread.

So I really can't blame kanye or these designer brands for copying or "paying homage" to the classic shoes, just wish that the amount of money paid is worth the name and quality and hopefully, the design. If you look at it, originality has given us some god awful shoes from the likes of Y-3, DSquared and D&G where they just go over the top with the design and colors that simplicty takes a back seat and it just fails miserably. With the Kanye's shoes, I wouldn't say he failed miserably but it had potential and that the color and details on his shoes just didn't do it for me, but it might be nice and well worth to the next person.
