Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Purchased my first suit from BR. Got the pants tapered and slimmed, the jacket sleeves shortened and slimmed and gotten the suit waist taken in.

Can I get some feedback?

Looks pretty good overall. More traditional style, nothing wrong with that.

You look very much a like Foo from SF  he's an attorney based in NYC with superlative taste in everything.

Looks pretty good overall but the shoulders can be tough to tell when your arm is up to take a selfie.  The buttoning point seems a little off, I can't put my finger on what it is though because it's not pulling.  Tough to tell if your shirt sleeves aren't long enough but it does look like the jacket sleeves could be a little bit shorter.
i think its cuz of the way I was taking a pic. The buttoning is a little off to I think but I believe it was because I got a size larger than normal and had to tailor it. I actually had to get a 40S to make sure the shoulders were perfect because the 38S was a really tight on the shoulders and tight overall.

Nah def not me because I stay away from those elitist fools on SF.

Congrats. Don't take the first offer they throw at you. They want you so negotiate the crap out of it...
I was going to hit you up privately, but I thought it'd be better to post here so others can read too.

This is just my 2 cents. Partnering with Human Resources does have its benefits because I get to pick my managers' brains.

There's a range that they can work with. When I was hiring an entry level position, my range was $45-50k. I offer $46k as a start. I would suggest you (Wes) ask the students in your field you keep in touch with how much they are making, and go from there. I would either accept or decline the counter offer based on their answer and how they did on the interview, which would (hopefully) infer their performance/work ethics. A good answer would be something like "while I truly appreciate the offer, base on my academic performance, internships, and what my friends are making with similar experience as I have, I want to see if something around $XX,XXX would be possible".

Do not be greedy, don't ask for the sky. Just because you have been selected, chances are they have back up candidates that have not been informed yet. These candidates will be informed that they were not selected once/if you accept the position. There's been a couple of times we have retracted offers to our candidates because they were too picky or wanted too much money. The runner ups also worked out very well in their respective jobs.

Money is a big factor, but it's not everything. Gelling with the company culture is huge and is a value that cannot be translate into a monetary amount.

I'll keep it short and sweet. Feel free to contact me if you want more of my blabbering, man. Once again, congrats. I always want my friends to do well in whatever it is they set out to do.

Gotcha.  I think it looks good but that was something I noticed, like maybe the tailor moved the button over to compensate if there was only so much waist suppression that could be done.  It seems like the lapels don't meet up as usual, they overlap but like you said, how you took the pic could contribute to it with your arm up causing some rotation.

 Wasn't meant to be a shot or anything, my man. Not that I feel you're angered or anything. Just a random thought.

Fellas, finally joining the workforce again. Had an interview with Lockheed Martin for a Systems Engineering position and they offered it to me today! Just waiting on the compensation offer now :pimp: crazy excited, because this is the one I've been waiting on since I applied months ago

Congrats, my last day at my current position was Tuesday. After years of asking I have agreed to go work for my pops after a 15yr hiatus. Initial pay will be allot less than my current gig but the future earning will be limitless. Not too much of a transition seeing I do contract work for him already.

Just FYI, Uniqlo stopped producing their selvedge denim in Japan to cut down on cost. There's basically no point in purchasing them now considering the only reason people even bought them in the first place was because they were MIJ. You'd be better off just purchasing GAP's Japanese selvedge denim as the quality will be much better.

Pass on the new Uniqlo selvedge. Like Robin said, the material is way too soft and flimsy feeling. I finally visited a Gap today and picked up the japanese selvedge for $12.49 (24.99-50% off). They also had the Baldwin x Gap selvedge jeans for $15 but passed b/c they fit slimmer than the authentic skinny's.

As it has been said everything looks good, the waist suppression is pretty good actually, don't stress the fact that the lapels are meeting up as usually, overlapping is not a bad thing. I don't know if it's due to you holding the sleeves but I would suggest maybe shortening the sleeves up a little more to show some shirt cuff.

This is some great advice! Be reasonable in your counteroffer, especially as Lockheed is a great place to be able to grow in.

Been lurking this thread for months waiting until the right time to start posting in it, which isnt now, but I'm tired of waiting.

Okay DB Fam,

I need your thinking caps with me. I’m going suit shopping soon for what will be my new “go-to” suit. This is where you guys come in.

Can you look at the three below, and give me your opinions? It would need to be something that could be versatile, which is why I chose the colors I did.

I already have a blue suit, but I would like to get a better one at some point. Dont really have a true "charcoal suit" though.

PLEASE RESPOND. Congrats to Wes though.

Antidope, I personally would go with this one:
http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/blue-line/napoli-blue-plain/P3753I.html?start=3&cgid=Blue-Line

I think it's the second link. Gray is versatile but not as versatile as navy blue or shades of navy blue, which is why I eliminated from your choices. Both blues are very nice but the richer navy blue would be the "go-to" suit I would buy if it were me. The richer navy will end up being more versatile as it will be a lot easier to use to transition from a business environment to a business casual one. The 3rd link I think that blue would work too but won't look as good as the 2nd link.

In short, the P3753 one, that can be worn with any shirt and tie combination you can think of. The trousers can be worn as separates with a sweater or a cardigan, and the jacket you can pair up with gray, khaki or denim; that's how versatile that shade of navy IMO is. If you are near a SS I suggest getting it there as their selection of sizes is pretty impressive and their in-house alterations are very reasonable.

Take a look at this entry by Adrian which demonstrates the versatility of a rich navy suit. Same suit, 5 outfits:

Antidope: if you already have a blue suit, then I would go with the charcoal. Charcoal is pretty versatile. I have one since it's my alternative to a black suit. Good for interviews as well as occasions that require darker suits.

The second choice is also nice. They say you can't have too many blue suits. But since you want versatility here, you can revisit the blues later down the line.

The third one is a bit less versatile since it is a lighter hue. It may not be appropriate for some work places that are very traditional. Truth be told though, 90 percent of the work places won't even care about this and you can still wear it.

I honestly was torn between the top two from the beginning, espeically the second one.

2 looks beautiful. But, I agree with 1 being seemingly more functional – can wear to weddings, funerals, interviews, etc etc.

I fell like I'm going to end up flipping a coin over it, I'm more pleased about the fact that you guys didnt say that theyre ugly as hell or something to that effect.

Lol, it's hard to go wrong with anything from SuitSupply plus you picked some very traditional colors as well. You can't go wrong with either 1 or 2. Wis is right if you have a blue suit then go with the charcoal. If this is your first suit, I would still recommend going with a blue suit over a charcoal suit for your first suit.

Obviously. Even some higher end brands use tactics like this, have the garment made almost entirely in a poorer nation then ship to Italy to put on a few touches so it can be labeled as made in Italy.

I need to try those out. I was wearing regular polos last summer and did not enjoy sweating.
the first day i wore one i walked over a mile in july in DC and was surpassed there wasn't much sweat visible...this is coming from someone that used to get botox injections for excess sweating as well...
