Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Chillin with the fambily Sergio was as always a pleasure. Will post up the bespoke shirt and deets later this week.

As for now, this was Thursday's fit:

How do overcoats/top coats fit? I know they're supposed to be worn over your suit.. but how do you size in them? Do they come in S-XL or jacket sizes? I guess that varies on brand.. but how would you size?

The sizing is in suit sizes and it is sized to fit over your suit. So your overcoat size should be around the same size as your suit size.

The J. Crew madness continues:

nice pickups.

Yes. Though my Paul Smith topcoat is a size small. They aren't always your chest size. It depends on the brand too. Some make them roomier to be worn over a suit jacket or something along that line and others make theirs to be worn in lieu of one.

Those shirts usually go on deep discount, man. But if you like them and plan on rocking them then go ahead and enjoy :pimp:

K came thru with the Ninjahood size picture

oh i know. but the only reason i went back is because one of the 2 shirts i wanted isn't on the website at all. i scoured it thoroughly.. and they only had 1 left in my size in the whole store.. so going back to that one led me to get the other one instead of waiting for the sale :smh:

is anyone in on the columbias, err legend blues? Those might sucker me back in temporarily

Ksteezy im usually a fan of ur fits, but u need to buy bigger sizes, that fit would look clean if you rocked a size or two up! otherwise it is a clean fit. I love the color scheme and the foot wear bro.
a size or two up on the jacket, and 6-7 sizes up on the pants

In defense for K...he did go to a GQ party, where they have a lot of their models wearing ridiculously tight clothing.

Send an email with your shoe size to shoebank@allenedmonds.com and they will send you a list of what they have in stock. According to dappered, they are running a sale starting February 3rd with popular models like the park ave and strand going for $199. You can also call the store directly at 262-284-7158.

The suit my friend picked out is a charcoal grey, kind of marled wool-like suit. It's basically dark grey with flecks of white. It's a CK "extreme slim fit" suit so I only need to get the pants altered but the materials are terrible (50% wool, 50% various synthetics :x).

hmm I gotta check the materials in our tux!!
besides that, I definitely convinced him black shoes are best for the navy tux (no more brown shoes!!) and us wedding party fellas. so now i'm picking out the shoes for everyone as well as the tie (navy, lilke the tux itself).

I'm leaning towards some allen Edmonds Verona for the tux shoes, with a polish on the black for a little slight gloss...

anyone have recomendations for am AFFORDABLE black shoe for a navy tux?? I thought of going the shiny-tux-shoe route, but think I prefer a more matte shoe with a shoe shine on it for a lil gloss. Dunno if anyone else would be looking to spend over $100, its that kind of crowd of fellas that dont really dress for anything.

thanks again fam.:smokin
Cheers!

where can i find shirts that are this tight?

i HATE having that extra loose material on my lower back...I want a nice snug all around fit.

You don't want a shirt that tight, you won't be able to move around in it. But try Zara apparently everything there is tight

Bingo. GQ has to stay relevant so it keeps with the trends. Mind you this is the same folks who suggested to size up on jackets in the 90s to show others you mean business when bigger shoulders were in.

It is not the same fabric as a t shirt so it won't stretch. Your shirt shouldn't be spreading apart when you move or sit down, otherwise it's too tight.

If your shirt is good fitting elsewhere already ie proper neck size and shoulders are good, you can have any tailor slim down the shirt. Should be relatively cheap to do.

I tried a GQ fit shirt once last year.NEVER again. I struggled to make a U-turn while driving because of how constricting my shirt was
