How does tapering denim work? Do I just tell a tailor my desired Leg opening and they'll adjust the measurements from the knee downwards proportionally? Or?

yes

yes. They can do the whole leg or knee down. I had rrl jeans tapered and I just told him 6" from knee down.

Can tapers be easily let out or its permanent ?
I can't answer that question, don't know.

I would also recommend that if you have good denim with a selvedge line that you should get a good tailor. Some tailors mess up the selvedge line when tapering and then you might as well toss your jeans into the trash cause they look bad.

Yes it can. My tailor folded the inside leg of the pants and stitched it, that way if I ever wanted to let me out I could.

What's your guys thoughts on waistcoats or suit vests without the suit?

Mix and match colors/fabric acceptable?

I want to expand my horizons a little and am thinking about picking one up for a dinner party. Probably go with matching set or light gray with black pants.

Thanks guys

Going with only a vest makes me think you don't have the full suit and are trying to hard to be trendy (a la frat boy heading to the club with his finest express duds).

Not opposed to odd vests paired with two piece suits though.

Lol that sounds horrible and definitely not something I want to exude. Would it look better say with white shirt / gingham, black tie, black Slacks or khakis with a knit or gray tweed waist coat? Kind of hipster ish but it looks like a refined casual dress up if there's such a thing.. Thanks

I personally have no issues wearing a waistcoat by itself with just a dress shirt.

Hmm in your opinion would it be OK to have a slight variation in color or material? I feel that this look generally bodes well for skinny or athletic guys.

Dude...if it's made from the same color and material cloth then it would be a suit combo.

All of my waistcoats are odd pieces so yes to different material and color.

On another note, pretty surprised Express spent the bread to get Curry in.
