Would you want to know the truth to Life ala Fullmetal Alchemist?

Someone tells you that he will show you a way to see the truth to all things. Things like if there is heaven, a god, ghosts, etc. Would you want to know? If so, why or why not? This could go either way. Either it could show that what you think, know, or believe about the world is true or that it's wrong. Would you still want to know or continue not knowing?

I wouldn't want to know because I'm not too concerned about what may happen after I die. I'm non-religious, but seeking the truth isn't something that I care that much about. I stick to what can logically be explained or proven. Another reason would be that it would take a huge chunk of mystery out of life. I'm content with not knowing the truth.

What about you guys?

Ignorance is bliss... Knowledge is pain.
Illusion is almost always more enticing than the reality that lies behind it.

Yes because knowledge is power and knowing what happens after you die is only part of it. I'd also want to know the reason we're alive in the first place, if there is one, and if there's actually a meaning to life instead of life just being what you make it mean to you which I've already been living by.

As far as knowing about what happens after life, if anything happens, if it happened to fall in line with a specific religion or a religion not really known I'd have the inside track and of course I'm assuming these answers are absolutely true supported with hard evidence not just flimsy faith based answers requiring gullibility.

I'm ready to walk through that door

whatever it is i pretty sure it will be so overwhelming

i already feel that there is no reason to live (technically)

im not saying it in a suicidal way. i mean we have a life. 100 yrs. cool. but there is no "reason" why we have this life. like we have this life cause of nature/reproduction but we are not alive for a certain reason or to fulfill a certain job.

i'd love to know if our galaxy of galaxies is in an atom of an aliens booger but im sure if i get back to this life/earth id explode in mindfork lol.

I'd rather not know.

I know someone here would be like, "Are you serious? Why wouldn't you? The more you know the better." True, in some cases. But life is too vast and honestly, I think it would be way beyond our comprehension and understanding to ever truly grasp its magnitude.

I'd rather appreciate it and all its glory and accept all the challenges that it brings us. Life as we know it right now, despite all the curveballs and misfortunes that it may give us, has plenty to thank for.

I would want to know because there's so much to know. I don't think it would take a huge chunk of mystery out of life it would just make it more interesting. Even if it does life's mysterious would never be solved. I would like to know what more is there to it. I once told my friend a completely random thought and he quoted me on it. When you figure out something and things start to get real good it ends for example when I was little there was this mango juice that came in a juice box and just as if it was to get really good it would always finish .. so, maybe when we are taking our last breaths will be the moment when we figure out and realize what life is really about and that would be the reason of our demise.

This reminded me of this.

This guy knew all the secrets to life and needed a successor because he was dying. That's how he gained his supernatural power and immortality. Movie was :pimp:

most definitely. why live in ignorance when i'm capable of understanding the truth? sure things may seem jaded afterward, but they may also garner a hope like no other.

This is an easy yes ... Why you ask .. Simple, to .. To want to know more, to want to know all, to want everything but then again that could fall along the lines of greed or gluttony

Now knowing how to use it, is something else entirely ... Learning how to manipulate the simple basic building blocks that become these complex intricacies .. that'll be something worthwhile

kind contradicted yourself, if you were presented with your own hypothetical situation wouldnt your logical/proof-driven mind take you down that road of curiosity? even if youre non religious, some thing presents you with the opportunity to know. . . . . im not calling you a scientist but im pretty positive there isnt one person of education who would turn that down
