Those Maryland helmets took 9 months to make and they'll only wear them once.

As far as Isaiah Battle goes, he should be suspended for the rest of the season by the ACC because we know Clemson won't do it. There's no place for that at all.

[h1]Arian Foster admits in documentary he took money at Tennessee[/h1]
Add Arian Foster's voice to the growing chorus who believe that NCAA athletes -- football and basketball players, in particular -- should be compensated for their labor. Last February, the Houston Texans running back was approached by the producers for the documentary Schooled: The Price of College Sports.

In the course of a four-hour interview, Foster contrasted his dire financial straits at the University of Tennessee to the commerce surrounding the Volunteers football program. He also disclosed (see video, above) that he received money during his senior season.

"I don't know if this will throw us into an NCAA investigation -- my senior year, I was getting money on the side," said Foster. "I really didn't have any money. I had to either pay the rent or buy some food. I remember the feeling of like, 'Man, be careful.' But there's nothing wrong with it. And you're not going to convince me that there is something wrong with it.

"There were plenty of times where throughout the month I didn't have enough for food," Foster said in the 90-minute documentary. "Our stadium had like 107,000 seats; 107,000 people buying a ticket to come watch us play. It's tough just like knowing that, being aware of that. We had just won and I had a good game, 100 yards or whatever You go outside and there's hundreds of kids waiting for you. You're signing autographs, taking pictures, whatever.

"Then I walk back, and reality sets in. I go to my dorm room, open my fridge, and there's nothing in my fridge. Hold up, man. What just happened? Why don't I have anything to show for what I just did? There was a point where we had no food, no money, so I called my coach and I said, 'Coach, we don't have no food. We don't have no money. We're hungry. Either you give us some food, or I'm gonna go do something stupid.' He came down and he brought like 50 tacos for like four or five of us. Which is an NCAA violation. [laughs] But then, the next day I walk up to the facility and I see my coach pull up in a brand new Lexus. Beautiful."

"I'm a firm believer that an employee should get paid for his work," Foster added. "And, 100 percent, I see student athletes as employees. Hiding from it is just cowardly."

Arian Foster is one of the most honest dudes in football. Very intelligent. He may risk incriminating the Vols, but I think his purpose was to publicly support pay for play in college athletics.
 
If you attend a school where there is a D1 football or b-ball team, you will see violations EVERY day.

Arian Foster, while he may have been trying to make a point, might have just complicated things a tad for the Vols going forward.
 
New helmet. Most likely going to be debuted when they play Clemson. Have to think that an Orange S is going to be on it. Nike was on campus this past Summer and one of the players admitted to there being a new helmet. They kept the other stuff under wraps. Hoping for new uniforms.

God I wish. Student body has been clamoring for an on campus stadium for as long as I can remember. The issue is Coral Gables will never allow it to happen, and we're signed into a 10 or 15 year stadium deal with Sunlife if I'm not mistaken.

On-campus/Tropical Park idea is never going to happen. I'm just being realistic, Sun Life is our home for the foreseeable future.

It has been awful since the move to Sun Life. The worst is when you're tailgating with a big group of multiple cars and you all have to enter the parking lot together. That's when the six lanes merging into one becomes a problem, everyone is trying to cut you off while you're just trying to keep your group of cars together. I heard the UF game was particularly bad, I didn't experience any headaches though because I got to the stadium at 7 AM.

Yea bro parking at the OB was no prob. Just park at somebody's house across the street or along the sidewalk.

Schools DONT make as much as people think though simply because they have to fund the entire athletic department. Go ahead and blame title IX if you want.

That's a political argument, no one cares about women's sports, but thy have to be funded somehow :lol:

high profile student athletes deserve compensation for the amount of money they bring in for their schools

otherwise it's indentured servitude. it's disgusting how the NCAA has been able to get away with this kind of treatment for so long

just the other day i was listening/reading about how texas a&m brought in nearly double the amount of money they have in other times (when manziel wasn't on the squad) - $740 million

yet he and players like him are made out to be pariahs for their silly and insignificant "infractions," while the suits in the NCAA, the universities, coaches & staff are laughing all the way to the bank


doesn't this make anyone else mad?
