The problem with the Revis line.....ACL injury and getting traded from the Jets

Nobody cares about a DB on a bad team...he's a DB. It's a little different with a wide receiver. He puts up stats you can see.
 
Revis' camp did him no favors in forcing their way out of the biggest media market to the Tampa area which is a tiny market. Doesn't help him either that he was on the IR when these released. There was no way to showcase them on the field.

Revis and John shoudla did the Yeezy 2 treatment

Celebs get shoes all the time...

But they don't wear or tweet everything they get sent to them.

I like the casual appeal the ZR1 had and I was looking forward to the sequel, but it does not have the mass appeal the yeezy 2 does.

Those zr2s would have been passed to every hype man and little cousin in the industry lol.

And by the way I don't think the failure of the ZR had really anything to do with Revis not wearing them on field or NY.

The New York market doesn't help Melo sell shoes all that much.

Nike should have treated them like the Penny 5 and gave them some of those sure shot fan favorite c/w's.

Casual appeal is everything and the Revis had it in the silhouette, but not enough crazy c/w's to bait the non enthusiast and performance users
 
No it doesn't, but Melo plays in New York and features the shoe every night. Big difference.

Nike should have produced some of the samples and PE's for the zoom revis to the public....instead of having people just show em off and flex on ig saying it'll never release lol.
 
Looks like it's time to double on everything while there's still time.

As for Revis, he's not a flashy player.  People aren't wowed by great technique, passes being broken up, INTs made due to tight coverage, and tackles in run support.  The thing that made Prime marketable, beyond his natural charisma is that he was a threat with the ball in his hands.  Punt returns, occasional offensive plays, INTs, you knew you were in for a show with him on the field.  Revis has definitely made plays throughout his career when he has the room to operate after an INT, but that's not his main goal out there.

Rex Ryan's defense was/is the perfect defense to feature a player like Revis.  No safety help a vast majority of the time, on an island, bump and run coverage.  Now he's stuck in Tampa playing cover 2.  Greg Schiano will be gone next year, maybe their next HC will run a defense that actually features what Revis does best and uses his ability to erase half of the field as an asset.

I doubt he will be in Tampa beyond 2014 anyways.  No guaranteed money, another year of this and he'll just force them to cut him.  Either way, he's set financially, barring him doing something stupid with his money.  Maybe being in Tampa will humble him and his camp.  Shelling out QB money to a DB in today's NFL isn't the way to consistently contend.  Not without an offense to match the elite QBs point for point.

I like this shoe as much as everyone here but all the coulda, woulda, shoulda isn't going to bring this line back, if we are lucky maybe the ZR2 samples will end up in the outlets

not saying Revis isnt or wasnt a great elite player but dudes was in here saying he is better then Deion ow will be and all kinda non sense :smh:

Prime time was a generational star at his position.

You didn't even have to know football to know the big plays, the celebrations, the flashy style, the nickname...the bandana.

Revis doesn't even come close to being on that level
 
anyone else think its funny that while the annoucement of the ZR2 being cancelled is recent news, now the dude actually gets the "revis island" term trademarked
 
Hearing that they are cancelled feel like my dog died & I just can't accept it lol for real. But nike didn't support him from the jump, feel like they wanted to throw the shoe out and see how many people it could attract off his name alone. ZR>CJ81 performance wise, looks and all IMO. Hopefully they take the same design plans and give it somebody who can "carry the line" and somebody who they feel can deserve some advertisement
 
there are so many things nike could of done differently but coulda, shoulda, woulda. Comparing the revis to the cj81 it seems like the shoe was setup to fail after the cool grey cw. I remember when I was checking stores in the mall weekly to see if they got the cool gey revis. After that they started mass producing them and sending stores way too many cws and not releasing the good cws. The denims were limited to 224 pairs ( stupid idea if you ask me) and the snakes that started mad hype became a f and f (it still hurts) and after that one f and f after the other kept on popping up.

They hit outlets a few months ago. Check Sneakersteal.com search "Volt Zoom Revis" they were listed for $59.99. I saw them at my local champs for $99.

Or you can call your local outlet and try to have them stock locate a pair.
 
A friend of mine picked up the green suede ZR samples at the tanger outlet in Wisconsin. Apparently the only pair but he picked them up for $60...
