The fact is, Detroit ran the ball more than Dallas did last season. Numbers don't lie.

Regardless of what our defense did and didn't do, we didn't run the ball because we chose not to do so. There were plenty of situations where we had a lead, Green Bay, and STILL DIDN'T RUN THE BALL!

you know what the sad part is? yes that defense was awful, but you know what? we lost like 4 games by a combined 5 points and we went 8-8, i'm not saying Dallas is a Super Bowl team, but they get their **** together and split those games, 10-6 is playoffs and with a better defense and some balance on offense who knows

Ive been saying the same thing for 2 years.

All I'm saying is Scott Linehan aint the person to provide that balance because he never did in Detroit.

If he can add 50-75 more carries to our offense, that's already an improvement right there.

I don't expect him to magically come in and balance things out. All I would like to see is an imporvement in our run game and utilizing Dez to the best of his abilites.

You mean how our quarterback was turning the ball over at an absurd rate the last 7 games of the season while the Lions were still averaging 4 yards a carry(Joique outperformed Reggie the last 6 games of season by the way)but Scott was having Matt throw the ball more than we ran.

Keep in mind Calvin was hobbled the best two players on offense down the stretch were by far the running backs

In the last 3 years the Detroit Lions have attempted more passes than any 3 year stretch in NFL history.

But yup Scott Linehan is coming to bring balance to your offense laugh.gif

But I'm the one just talking out my ***.

Even last year Scott Linehan ran the ball 4.89% more than the Dallas Cowboys.

4.89%!!!!

But I'm just talking out my ***. laugh.gif

If Scott Linehan runs the ball as much as he did Detroit he's going to add 18 more rushes.

For the season

Or 1 a game.........

I would have eithered @CaptainSneakerhead23 BS earlier but I was at work.

Either me on a sneaker forum? LOL knock it off please don't get carried away fam.

Please quote me when I said Linehan was coming in to balance out our offense ... I'll wait

The original statement was about the Lions running the ball more than the cowboys did last season! That's a fact. As many passes as you mentioned in your last post, they still ran the ball more than Dallas did! That's the whole point. Not sure why you don't seem to understand that part, I'm not saying anything about balancing out the damn offense.

LIons basically had Calvin Johnson and some mediorce at best players as pass catchers yet he has still called more passing plays than any OC in NFL history the last 3 years.

Why in Gods name do you think he'll run the ball more with a better collection of pass catchers in Dallas?

He's going to EITHER YOU!!!!!

LOL

Captain that's exactly what my point was too I wasn't saying this guy is going to completely balance us out I was just saying the facts he did run the ball more than us and I'll take that.

To be honest I'm excited for Dez, maybe he gets plays designed for him outside of the goal line fade which is money by the way and maybe we actually move him around

I don't get the math either by my count and I'm no mathematician it should be like 6-7 carries more a game I looked at the NFL.com numbers before

Regardless this a Cowboys thread and I would never spend that much time on another teams thread.

All good SneakerPro no beef here just like talking football, I mean if anyone knows Linehan it's probably an actual Lions fan. But so far I like the two moves we made trust me anything is better than Callahan we can ship him over to Detroit if you want lol

The Lions also attempted more passes than the Dallas Cowboys last year.

That's also a fact.

The Cowboys are not going to run the ball, no matter who's back there. We could be packing the 90's Cowboys Oline with Sanders, Emmitt and AP and these dudes would still pass 75% of the time.

It goes beyond the coaching level imo. Jerry's comment about the Cowboys being entertaining while losing tells you everything you need to know about how he wants things.

So I've accepted that we won't run, and with that being the case the Cowboys should do all they can to mimic the great passing attacks. That's why I wouldn't be mad at them drafting a WR if all the stud Dline guys are gone. Even though Dez isn't Megatron, the Lions historically didn't often go away from CJ, he was the focal point of the offense from beginning to end, if Linehan can do the same with Dez, that's a huge improvement.

Dez had multiple games last season with <6 targets, and was shut down by the ********, Saints, Vikings and Giants because the team couldn't figure out how to beat a double schematically. Dez is leading the league in TD's the last 2 years and the last 3 years. Yet Vincent Jackson has received about 3 or 4 games more worth of targets than him. That's completely unacceptable.

SneakerPro what do you want the Lions to do in the draft? Fairly high pick so I'm curious
post #4241 of 10475
I have no beef with any of yall dude basically implied I don't know what I'm talking about because the Lions had more rushing attempts in 2013. Well they had more passing attempts too because they ran way more plays. When you look closer at the numbers it becomes obvious there was no point in bringing that up but dude didn't want to backtrack.

Scott Linehan is going to get Dez the ball more. He's not good but GREAT at getting an elite WR the ball. That's what yall should be excited about but he ain't running the ball. In fact I'd almost bet money yall run the ball less or the same.

I want Mike Evans or Justin Gilbert at 10.

I am excited about that a lot actually

I had a feeling you would say Evans, I've felt he would be a great pick for you guys for a while now. Gilbert is probably my favorite corner in the draft, love his ball skills

One more thing.

The Dallas Cowboys will be top 5 in total offense under Scott Linehan.

He devises offenses that accumliate yards and tons of them.

My biggest issues with him are situational play calling and the fact that Stafford was basically his project and dude hasn't got better in 3 years. Schwartz literally had nothing to do with the offense, it was all Scott.

I'm not going to argue if Tony Romo is better than Matt Stafford but gun to my head I'd say he is.

What does all this mean? GIven what Scott had to work with in Detroit and what he now has to work with in Dallas I'd say its a good hire from a production stand point but from a style stand point its going to be a more creative version of what yall already do.

Whether that's a good or bad thing for yall IDK.

that was the problem with Garrett's offense when it was entirely his, a lot of yards just not points and the situational football sucked

Well the LIons issue scoring points this year had to do with turnovers which I don't put on Scott directly. Reggie Bush had more fumbles than rushing touchdowns this pass season and Stafford lost his damn mind in the last 7 games and Calvin was basically playing on one knee probably shouldn't have even been on the field.

The type of O-Coordnator that Scott is and Garrett was/is there its no coincidence they hired him.

Dez needs to be drafted in the first round of all ppr drafts. laugh.gif

yeah most def a Garrett move

lol if I don't get Dez in fantasy I feel naked

Scott Linehan choosing us over the Ravens, despite how poorly we are run [as an organization], speaks volumes to his relationship with Garrett and indicates the fact that he'll have significant input in my opinion.

I also get the feeling Gavin Escobar will benefit greatly from the hire.

But going back to what you mentioned chiacrack about us being 8-8 and easily could be 10-6, on that same token, we could easily be 6-10. We barely beat the Vikings, Giants, and ********; all those games were won by less than 6 points.

It's going to be a long off season but it should be interesting with Garrett having a 'do or die' season.

It's only one voice that will be running the team, and that's Grandpa Jerry.
Not concerning myself with too much Cowboys talk right now.
Just going to enjoy the Super Bowl.
Got a feeling it's going to be a real good game.

I feel you on that bro.
The medias portrayal of Richard Sherman as some deranged lunatic is what has me more interested than usual.
Can't wait to see Peyton get smashed.

Your post caught my eye.

I feel you may be able to trade back for additional picks, for either or both potentially.

I personally prefer KB to Evans. Better straight-line speed. I'm holding Evans' LSU tape slightly against him. Sticks out in my mind.

^, Kelvin is already 23 with bad hands.

Mike is 3 years younger and maybe has the best hands in college football.

Evans way better prospect IMO, I'm no pro scout but I've evaluated prospects the past few years and while Benjamin is good I think Evans has Vincent Jackson written all over him

Long way to go, long long way to go

I agree with you but one thing to keep in mind is that they did what they did to the #1 offense in the league. So in reality, every team can think they same way we are in that we have a long way to go.

But the reality is that there is so much parity in today's NFL, that there's no reason to not be optimistic. Granted, the way this organization is run doesn't give much hope but there's no guarantee that Seattle will be what they were this year.

With that being said, it's already being discussed that the Cowboys and Seahawks will be the season opener for 2014... mean.gif
