Platinum's involvement with Starfox can only be seen as a positive, and I can't deny that the Wii U has probably given me the most memorable experiences this gen (Mario World 3D, Bayo 2, MK8 and now Splatoon), but this conference was a little flat with the announcements.

What I'm saying here is I WANT MARIO GALAXY 3 ALREADY.

No way a game like Pokken releases on Wii U now. It would be a great NX laugh title tho.

Right Nintendo has moved on and I don't expect any major games for this system outside of what we've already seen. With that said, the NX better deliver on the failed promised Nintendo made to the fans

I haven't owned a wiiu for a year and this .... is already dead.

Metroid would be a good launch title as well. I'd say Zelda but that would piss a lot of fans off. I'd bet they're already working on Mario 64 type game and decided to push it out on its next console.

Yeah pretty obvious what the strategy is. NX it is. Pokken fighters will have to launch with it and sell poke amibos.

I've been talking to people in the industry and they've seen some cool Metroid, Zelda, and Mario footage that I can't even talk about. Let's just say I'm kidding.

You got some great exclusives but you should have seen it coming. I know we go back and forth in the other threads about NPS sales but I think this is partially why its actually important. Wii U been out almost 3 years and is around ~10mil units sold. Its their worst selling console I think. 3rd party won't waste their time and if Smash and MK8 couldn't sell units, it's clear that it's time to move on and invest elsewhere.

Yea that's messed up bro. But on the bright side there are still some amazing games for the system. I'm surprised they haven't lowered the price of the system. That's a bit strange considering the sales and the fact it's been on the market for almost 3 years.

Too bad 3rd parties ran away from the system like the plague. That really negatively affected the mainstream appeal of the system.

I think Zelda will eventually be a launch title for the NX similar to what they did with Twilight Princess. Zelda and Metroid alone will ensure a solid install base off the top.

Glad you mentioned a price drop. Why its still $299 MSRP is mind blowing to me.

I just realized Sony didn't mention a Vita price drop...I'll be back...

Damn, man... I think if the Wii U was closer to 20-30 million in sales we would be getting those games plus better 3rd party support. This sucks. The Wii U is such a dope system to me and to see it only sell 10 million after damn near 3 years is crazy.

I don't really know what more they could have done to make the Wii U a bigger success. Maybe better branding and advertising?

It's seems the "Wii" branding had run it's course by the time the Wii U had launched and it created market confusion for the average consumer.

What y'all think?

I see what you're saying. I wonder if it's even feasible for nintendo to make a "nextgen" console.

I copped a wiiu for the exclusives only, so I'll pick up what's left.

Nintendo's arrogance got the best of them I guess.

Broadly speaking, is it possible for them to develop a nextgen console that quickly?

They've probably been working on NX for at least a year. Rumor came out that Nintendo was working with new tech awhile back but nobody beloved they'd be working on a new console after had just launched.

I think Nintendo can do it but they're so stuck on being different and innovative as if they can't do both. Take your time, invest the money and give games a true current gem console. Hell, I'd copy all the good features from PS4/X1 and add to it. The foundation is already there, they just need to build on it. They can still sell amiibos and attract families while also attracting the more hard core gamers.

CoD, Final Fantasy, Kingdom
Hearts GTA Amiibos :nerd:

There is no reason why the new Star Fox looks like it has late PS2 graphics! Don't get me wrong, the game looks fun to play and I've been waiting ages for a new one, but why would they think it's okay in 2015 to put out a game that looks like that? I know graphics aren't eveything, but I was expecting a lot more in that department. Furthermore, it really does look like this is the end of the Wii U; they didn't give us any indication that they even want it to sell this holiday season (Mario Maker and Star Fox aren't system sellers). Oh well, can't say I haven't gotten my money's worth out of it.

They couldn't even announce an Animal Crossing console version...

I think Nintendo really is just giving up on Wii U and moving onto NX.

Yeah, it's crazy that they don't just take what the PS4 and XB1 have done and add to it. I mean, they have the most exclusives out of any system. People WANT to play these games, it's just that Nintendo is being stubborn. Give the people the online experience they want, continue adding to the virtual console, have current graphics, and flourish. I understand they want their system for the family, but if they tossed that out of the window (beyonetta 2) and combined games/systems/cell phones I think they can come out as clear leaders in not only video game development, but the business as a whole.

^ Yeah, I'm just gonna go to the PS4 for the time being. Best believe I'm copping the NX day one though. Hopefully this is their true next gen console. Where games are seamless through home/cell phone and you can literally play any game on-the-go. Gonna cop Star Fox/Mario maker and Yo-Kai Watch and that might be it.

Nintendo will always have the best first party games but I always have a second system for third party titles.

Loving this gears beta :smokin

The Wii sold cause the motion controls attracted people that aren't actual gamers.

And I think they tried to re create that with the gamepad but it didn't translate well.
I don't mind the gamepad but I think it would be been better if they gave us the pro controller instead.
It's also one of the biggest reasons we don't have a lot of 3rd party games, developers simply did not want to deal with it.

Your right with it creating confusion tho, someone else in here said they should of just called it the New super Nintendo

Nintendo needs to keep up with the times, not that they need to change their formula with games, but they need to re vamp their online system.
There's no reason why Mario party 10 shoudnt have had online support.
It's nothing crazy but simple things like voice chat greatly increase the online experience.
It annoys me that I can't talk smack while we're playing smash.

I agree, but I think the gamepad excuse for third parties was a cop out. No 3rd parties were obligated to use the gamepad. They could have simply left it blank i.e Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.

And I totally agree with you about the online. Voice chat is a must for today's gamers. For them not to have online or voice chat for upcoming games like Star Fox is not good. Online dogfights with amiibos or custom mii characters would be dope.
