Yeah, IGN made it sound like the Switch isn't ready for full home console use. Other reviews kept mentioning how it's great on the go and how it's the most powerful portable gaming system ever, but not so much as a home console. They were mentioning that BoTW would dip in frame rate quite a bit when the Switch was docked, but run smoothly when undocked.

I think for the most part, you're not buying the Switch to be your main console, but you're buying it for the Nintendo exclusives and for the option to take it with you on the go if you'd like. BoTW will get the Switch into a ton of homes immediately and Mario will bring in the stragglers during the holidays that wanted to wait.
IMO, the way I've seen Nintendo advertising the Switch so far..........they've been advertising it as an "alternative console" for gamers that want a break from their mainstream FPS/mainstream AAA rated games on the more powerful consoles/gaming PCs.

Yeah they're still gonna attempt to push the home console gaming thing, but it'll mostly be for their main Nintendo IP titles than the 3rd party titles that will be joining the system (even though it is the 3rd parties that are thriving in this current gaming industry at the moment).

The fact that the Switch is indeed a "portable" home console is basically Nintendo telling the audience to have the Switch as a secondary gaming console alongside their big gaming PS4s/XB1s/high-powered gaming PCs.

That being said, the games will be the final factor on how the Switch will turn out.......and the launch of this console doesn't exactly have a strong set of release titles so far to accurately analyze the success of this system (Zelda alone will not determine the success of this console, when the MK8 port is waiting in April & Mario Odyssey is coming out this Holiday).

I was just thinking about this. You know how everyone wants Nintendo to go back to the days of the Super Nintendo, but no one is really talking about how the Switch is looking like the spiritual successor to that console with all the indie games coming to the system. Just watching the trailers bring back so many memories of the SNES. A Blaster Master sequel, Sonic Mania, Street Fighter Ultra and the possibility of the OG Super Mario Kart online.... :x

Runner 3 will be exclusive and many other indie games are going to be coming first on the Switch.

Say what you want, but this game looks dope. Then you'll be getting a new Mario, Metroid, Splatoon, down the line... The best of both worlds.

LOL. The trolls in the IGN comments section under the system review are going full blast tonight.

Honestly, to hear about the Joy Con syncing issues and the Zelda frame rate issues (in TV mode to boot), and knowing Nintendo's sometimes shaky overall track record, it's hard not to start out a little disappointed despite the mostly positive critical reception across the board.

I'm HOPING that a lot of the reported issues, at least with frame rate, will be resolved with the Day 1 update (or shortly thereafter). After the debacle I had with my bricked Day 1 Wii U once it was updated, I do NOT want similar issues this time.

If the Joy Cons really do have problems with something being in the way of "seeing" the Switch (such as a user's fingers depending on the way they're held), I think it's inexcusable that Nintendo could've sent the Switch to production with such issues. Worst case scenario, it could be another "iPhone 4 antenna" type debacle.

Either way, too late to turn back now. LOL.

Idk if y'all have been tuned into the dude that's been lining up outside the Nintendo store in nyc for a month now but nintendo officially opened up the line in front of the store and home did it, he's first in line. The line is already super deep, there's about 60 people I'd say, I can't imagine what's it's gonna be like in 24 hours lol. That **** is gonna wrap already round that whole block

I'm on mobile, if anyone can embed please, it shows what the line currently looks like

No need to worry, Nintendo will have the syncing issues resolved before launch.

Enjoy the hype!!!! 24 more HOURS!!!

Damn. Don't people have a j-o-b? Or a life? I got my preorder 2 months ago after lining up for an hour and a half, and that was good enough for me.

Don't mistake not having a job with not having money.

Never said jack squat about anyone not having money.

My question was more along the lines of, if you're a person who has a significant other, has a family, has kids, has a job, has a semi normal life (other than Nike obsessions, given the name of the message board that we're all on) like a lot of us do, why would you CHOOSE to be away from all of that? For a MONTH? And if you had a job, how could you even get time off? And even if you didn't have a job or a family, STILL, why would you choose to do nothing but wait in line for a month? And how would you manage showers, food, and bathroom breaks in that case?

What, all in the name of Reggie personally handing you the first Switch sold at domestic retail?

These questions make my head spin. But I'm guessing it can be chalked up as an "attention ho" issue for anyone who would do this.

People that pull these kinds of stunts will never compute to me. I had trouble enough getting 90 minutes of free time to do the preorder.

Tempted but I am still going to wait on what everyone thinks of the Switch

Still deciding if I should scoop BOTW on the Wii U or just wait till I get the Switch

If I already had a Wii U, there's no way I would go after the Switch before holiday season. I'd just get BOTW on WU

got a call from gamestop yesterday while at work saying in order to pick-up my pre-order I had to purchase 3 accessories. Anyone else get this call? Think that is total BS, they say they are trying to avoid people buying to resell but I already got my accessories at best buy and they all shipped.
