Wasn't spoelstra that coach that lost to the mavs in 2011? In response the Heat went out and got more talent.

If the Heat are not hitting their 3s it is almost guaranteed that they struggle or lose. That is dude's gameplan.

I don't know if he should even get credit for defense when you have Mr. 1-5 in there.

The media members are Miami Heat fans.

^didnt George Karl win it with the Sonics during the Bulls run?

I am shocked there's an argument about Russ being so loyal to the Thunder. He missed out on 10-20 mil. We don't know what he was thinking. He had a great deal in front of him and took it. Let's not act like Russ hasn't had issues. He's had problems with teammates, coaches and throws fits on the bench. You don't always get a max deal when you act like a 12 year old at times.

As for the deal, he got 80 mil dollar extension. How many NBA players are making that? He probably thought it was too good to pass on and he would have a great shot at getting a ring with KD.

Lastly, Russ gets the blame because mad people dislike him because of his attitude and the **** he does. That's why he gets the blame. Maybe if he made certain changes, he wouldn't get blamed as much.

Wow Mark Jackson finished 7 and Tom Thibodeau 8 in Coach Of The Year voting. That's a bunch of BS

Nuggets won 57 in the West without a single all star. They probably wont have any all nba players either. I have no problem with Karl winning COY

But, they were suppose to win the West this year, so obviously he had some all star level players.

Aren't ya glad this didn't happen?

Portland's talks with Minnesota for Jamal Crawford are part of a 3-way scenario with Lakers, source says. Michael Beasley would go to LA.

As for Spo. He has a great team, I've never seen him make any adjustments or calls that led me to believe he's a great coach. LeBron seems like he coaches himself and does his own thing.

As I said earlier. All of these coaches were more impressive.

Thibs - people ruled this team out because of no Rose and dealing with the distraction of Rose. I saw plenty of games with 4-6 starters out and they would dominate. This team is the toughest in the league, ask LeBron who's crying about a Ric Flair slap.
Voget - turned this team into a defensive monster. Hibbert has improved, George has improved. Lost their star player along with some other pieces. I don't think he should have won but would have been in my top 5, maybe top 3.
Jackson (whom I hate) - took a young team that no one thought could win anything and did a 180. Overall, this team is playing some of the best basketball in the league in a tough Western conference.
Woodson - my coach, some days I hate him and other days I love him. This team placed second and won 54 games. Very inconsistent and needs to improve. Didn't expect him to win.
Popp - don't need to speak on. He's had an amazing career.

Still not sure what Karl did. I've always thought he was a good coach but he had a lot of pieces with this team. I didn't think he did anything to win the award.

In regards to Spo I can see why he got second even though I dont agree. He has to manage 3 superstar egos, coming off a title win which has been known to cause slacking on the part of the team and coached the second longest win streak in NBA history; he has to get some credit for that.

So leaving 10-20 million on the table so that Presti could have more money to throw at Ibaka or Harden isn't being loyal to the team? Name another guy (aside from LBJ Wade and Bosh) that has done that?

I would love to see the man who voted for LARRY DREW give an explanation as to why he was the COTY.

 some dude really voted for Larry Drew. You gotta be kiddin me.

the big 3 in miami didn't leave THAT much on the table..maybe like 4-5 mil and that is kind of offset with no state income tax in florida

Spo draws up some of the best plays in the league if you really watch heat games. But to say lebron coaches himself is funny,
When a coach wins with great players, the players get the credit but when they lose its because they were outcoached

Have you watched Miami's defense. There's a reason it's so good. Spoelstra. Dudes defensive rotations are making Chalmers look all nba defense

Î have no idea how George Karl go soooo many first place votes. No idea how spo could be second (even though I do think he is a good coach), completley laughable that thibbs wasn't in the top 7

Thought Jackson would be higher. Woodson in the top 5 is cool. I don't think he's amazing but really 2nd record in the east and got jr smith and Felton their best years. had melo playing team ball for like 3 months.

Vogel did a great job. Popovich is popovich he's the best coach in the nba.

But the infatuation with George Karl needs to stop already

So correct me if I'm wrong, but part of the reason why the Thunder traded Harden was because he was gonna command too much money... money that they needed to keep Ibaka, right?

So essentially they chose Ibaka over Harden?

Ibaka can get a few blocks and be a defensive presence... but he's just not bringing enough to the team. I'm not liking his mindset on the court either. I understand someone needs to pick up the slack with the 2nd best player gone, but Ibaka is proving he can't be the guy.

Now I entirely understand that OKC wanted to keep a freakishly athletic, defensive-minded big guy as one of their centerpieces. But if I had to offer the cash to one player and trade the other for four quarters, I'd trade Ibaka.

VDN (and Brooks to a lesser extent) never belong on a COY list.

Clips will regret not hiring Malone, and therefore securing CP3 long-term.

Spo shouldn't be second in the COY race, but his coaching tactics and in-game adjustments have vastly improved in the past two years.

im not trying to be an apologist but GK did an amazing job. playoffs aside, team had no stars and posted up an incredible record. had a bunch of role players to a 3rd seed in the west.

do think spo shouldve won this and mark jackson shouldve been closer

The sad thing is, I wouldn't classify Ibaka as freakishly athletic. He can jump but can't beat anybody off the dribble (probably more a function of him having no handles) or strong enough to back anyone down or hold his own in the post, contributing to low rebound numbers. He reminds me of Udonis Haslem with shotblocking ability.
