***Official Political Discussion Thread***

That's was a hypothetical situation to illustrate that the circumstances of tomorrow are more important to a state's alliances than what politicians are declaring today.

There isn't a single American in 1945 who foresaw that Japan and the US would be allies 80 years later. There aren't many Americans on 9/11 that foresaw the US and Saudi Arabia signing a bilateral defense pact.

So, it is for Palestinians to accept being occupied and dominated by Israel or give up their goal for full independence and full sovereignty. The only thing Israel had agreed was Bantustans and quasi-state.

I am sure I have expressed I am for the end of occupation, and a one state solution for human and equal rights for all. That's not Israel, it'll have to be some new country.

So you believe that “full independence and full sovereignty” means one state and no Israel.

To state the obvious, there is no such thing. Unless you mean only Palestinians should have full independence and full sovereignty while Israelis do not, in which case you’re no different than Bibi. You just are on the other team.

You haven’t posted anything on this forum outside of the Palestine thread or this one in over a year (and some light defense of Kanye’s antics in his thread…) and continue to defend Hamas. I’m not sure what you hope to accomplish on this sneaker forum. You’re not actually serious about a real solution.

I can't imagine a one state solution will be feasible

Like it would probably be unworkable in practice

But I don't see either side doing for it

And I think the people that think it is tacitly imply that the other side has to make the sacrifice.

America’s elites, particularly tech elites, are heavily influenced by Ayn Rand. Even if they have never read her books or even consciously consider themselves to be libertarians, they are all shaped by the notion society, in general, and the state, in particular, are nothing but a liability, an imposition on their brilliance.

As a result, they believe that their fortunes and businesses savvy will be even more valuable than it is now. In reality, tech elites are the most dependent on complex, hierarchical societies.

Typically, the less calloused the hands, the more one is dependent on other people’s daily and often anonymous and undervalued labor.

I haven't been keeping up with the ENTIRE Kristi Noem story, but I finally caught up. This is wild:

1. She's been governor of South Dakota since 2019. She's written TWO autobiographies in the last five years....wait, nevermind, the last TWO years. One in 2022, and the one that released this week. WHO DOES THAT? Ex-presidents don't even write more than one. So, we've establish that she's a full-blown narcissist.

2. She put the dog story in the first biography...sorry, AUTObiography. which means she has complete control over it. The publisher told her it would be a bad idea to include the whole "shoot the innocent puppy" thing, and axed it.

3. She was so furious, she went and found a right-wing publisher who would publish the story, and concocted an entirely different AUTObiography (again, a book she has FULL control over), while also tossing in a story about meeting Kim Jong and dressing him down to make it seem like she'd met a foreign leader and potential adversary. She chose the one world leader that is the easiest to disprove as that dude does NOT leave North Korea and might as well have a tracking device on him from the US government. Now, she has conveniently "forgotten" that she met him because she meets with so many people (lol). Nah, man. If I ever met Kim Jong, I'd start my own damn thread on NT and brag about how I met him. You don't just "meet" Kim Jong and casually mention it in a book. I would bring that up in every bar conversation in my life. She's full of crap.

4. Getting back to the dumb book, while it was ghost written, SHE recorded the audio book. She read her own words, and now she's backtracking harder than Michael Jackson moonwalking around the equator. She's talking about edits to the print edition. THE AUDIO BOOK EXISTS.

5 - 7. Enough words have been spent on this ghoul. This is literally one of the dumbest politicians I've seen in my lifetime. Rich, fake cowboy-*** crap trying to stick it to the Libs and show how tough and hard she is, but she just enjoys killing innocent animals. She's done.
