They were seeking $10bill from the tribunal which the US were afraid they would get or close to it so they convinced them to settle outside of the tribunal for something like $1.7bill back in 2015. I wonder if the $400 bill is the only thing the US will have to pay.

I'm so pissed thinking about how most Americans really don't understand the full history of reagan's prescidency.

Brah it burns me out that people forget the white supremacist piece of **** he was, forget that he ushered in the era of evangelicals having so much influence over the GOP, and think he was a supply side economic prophet

Reagan's economic, social, and foreign policy legacy has all been white washed by the GOP.

I brought the money thing back up cause on (i believe CNN) someone mispoke/slipped up and said they were today.

US says $400M to Iran was contingent on release of prisoners

The Canadian Press The Canadian PressAugust 18, 2016

im not trying to peddle the false narrative, just want the tweet answered before they go back to talkin about the money/hostage thing. (i am aware it has to do with a failed weapons deal from way back)

They were getting the money either way from the tribunal at the Hague or right then & there. It was a unique opportunity to pay less than what we owned the country for decades. They could've just chosen to keep the hostages & wait until they got awarded more money from the Hague.

But to say that money was tied to the hostages being released, no it wasn't.

 @ disingenuous....

Were the hostages getting released if the US did not pay the 400 million that day. Yes or no. Money we both agree they were owed. I can see both sides on this one. I'm not even outraged and i'm always outraged.

They weren't going to release the hostages if they didn't get the money. But the argument that we owed iran that money from a previous circumstance is true. It's definitely a nuanced situation. Saying it has NOTHING to do with the hostages is disingenuous.

I'm more interested in the fact that russia is using Iran's bases to launch attacks. That alliance is getting serious. Russia is also increasing forces on the ukraine border.

Lucky for us, once trump is in office, the Iran-Russia-USA alliance will be completed, and we wont have to worry about either country any more.

“If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest person ever elected to the presidency.”

@ Drumpf being healthier than this guy:

Hillary is a year younger than Drumpf, plus women live longer than men, so another W for Hillary:

 I guess the idiot went back on saying he'd never apologize.

Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don't choose the right words or you say the wrong thing. I have done that. And believe it or not, I regret it. And I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues

But one thing I can promise you is this: I will always tell you the truth.

When pressed what he was specifically apologizing for, he wouldn't provide specifics... What an utter piece of ****...

^ because he was reading off a script that someone else had written for him.

it's like when your mom scolds you and tells you to apologize to your sister and you just say, "I'm sorry" without even knowing what that means.

Clinton's response to Trump

“Donald Trump literally started his campaign by insulting people. He has continued to do so through each of the 428 days from then until now, without shame or regret,” said a statement released only minutes after the speech concluded.

“We learned tonight that his speechwriter and teleprompter knows he has much for which he should apologize. But that apology tonight is simply a well-written phrase until he tells us which of his many offensive, bullying and divisive comments he regrets — and changes his tune altogether.”

So now Trump's replacement campaign chief just quit not long after that NYT piece I posted a few pages back uncovering his numerous ties to foreign dictators and Russia

What a **** show this campaign has been

yup. the apology is pretty hollow unless he lists off everything he regrets and why. not sure he can get through it all by November though.

Drumpf and his supporters right now:

"Everything is fine. Things have never been better for the Drumpf campaign. We're on a roll, the election is ours!"

Hands should be smaller for a more accurate portrayal.

Need to see somebody sneak one of those in a Donald campaign rally

where is the thread balancers when Trump is making a fool of himself?
Licking their wounds and thinking up new deflections to focus on Trillary.

They tend to wait it out hoping something new in the news can take eyes off of it as well.
